What Is The Role of The Big Powers in The World?

All people strive to achieve power and to rule the whole world. This desire passes to a larger level, so, the nations are trying to be powerful too. While some nations give up easily, others seem to have the courage and determination to see a challenge through to the end and some of them succeed. On their way to accomplish what they want, these countries are able to bring themselves on the worldwide arena and prove their legacy as strong and influential states. But what does the power we are speaking about mean? According to the international definition power is a measurement of an entity's ability to control its environment, including the behavior of other entities. In conformity with this explanation a great power is a nation or state that has the ability to exert its influence on a global scale. Great authorities characteristically possess economic, military, diplomatic, and cultural strength, which may cause small powers and small states to consider the opinions of great powers before taking actions on their own. In order to get the status of a big power a lot of countries try to meet the criteria. Different sets of great, or significant, powers have existed throughout history; however, the term "great power" has only been used in scholarly or diplomatic discourse since the Congress of Vienna in 1815. The Congress of Vienna consisted of five main powers: the United Kingdom, the Austrian Empire, Prussia, France, and Russia. These five primary participants constituted the original great powers as we know the term today. The Balance of supremacy between the Great Powers became a major influence in European politics. Over time, the relative power of these five nations fluctuated. So during the 20th and 21st centuries an entirely different balance of power appeared. The United States of America, the Russian Federation, Peoples Republic of China, France, Great Britain, Japan and Germany are the big powers which control the world. They have power over international relations and are the main parts of the influential bodies. These countries have resources to maintain their independence and stability and have an immense influence on the world politics and economics. They can change the world making it a better place to live or a worse one, because they are responsible for the peace and war. It is obvious that the fate of other states and of the international issues depends completely of the Big Powers. Therefore, for every nation it is vital to develop the economical, political, cultural and military fields in order to survive and to attempt to win in the war of interests.
