Three-fold objective of selfassessment

1.
To identify the knowledge and skills areas that the respondent perceived to be important to their work

2.

To gauge the respondents proficiency level in those areas.

3.

To determine what are considered to be HRD priority.

Identification of HRD Needs

HRD needs analysis is a method of matching the staff skill base with the requirements of the organization. It can be undertaken in-house by organizational representatives but in these circumstances it is often linked to management strategies. As a result it can sometimes alienate the employees by not necessarily taking into account of their own professional development needs. A balance has to be achieved between the needs of the organization and those of the employees . This can be best achieved using a more robust model and involving an external reviewer.
