ST. JOSEPH OF ARIMATHEA

October 26, 2011 Attention: Leadership of Church Ministries & Organizations Dear Friends, I am writing you on behalf of the Finance Committee and Vestry to ask that your church group prepare and submit your yearly report for the annual parish meeting by Sunday, January 8, 2012. This report does not need to be lengthy or tedious to prepare. Instead, look at it as an opportunity to share the inspiring efforts and ministries of your group here at St. Joseph of Arimathea. There are two other requests being made of church organizations this year, in addition to the annual report. First, all organizations are asked to submit a prayerfully considered budget request to the nance committee this year for regular expenditures or for special events your organization may hold that would benet the entire parish. This is primarily intended as a means of improving communication in the parish by providing clear information to the vestry and membership, and making the parish budget into a vehicle for the inspiring mission efforts of the congregation, rather than something to be presented apologetically and shufed from the light of day. Secondly, if your organization is one that maintains its own bank account, and is exempted from the general nancial requirements of the parish, the parish bylaws stipulate that an annual report of income and disbursements be submitted for inclusion in the Annual Parish Report. This requirement does not seem to have been observed uniformly in the past, but obviously needs to be in order for us to be in compliance with our bylaws, diocesan and national church canons, and good nancial practices for non-prots. To that end, a recommended church organization nancial statement form is enclosed. In Christ, The Rev. Joseph B. Howard Priest-in-charge
