Mt. 13:13-16 (NIV) This is why I speak to them in parables: "Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand. 14 In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: "'You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving. 15 For this people's heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.' 16 But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.

Read Luke 24:1-53 I. WHY DIDN T THEY RECOGNIZE JESUS? They had the facts wrong Vs. 16 Perverted eyes (in such a state) Vs. 17-20 Spoke wrongly (saidwas a prophet) Vs. 21 Lost hope (was a prophet) Vs. 22 Astonished at womens report

II. HOW DID THEY RECOGNIZE JESUS? He opened the scriptures to them (vs. 27) They invited Jesus into their situation (vs. 28-30)

III. RESULT: HE REVEALED HIMSELF TO THEM! Truth was made known (vs. 31) Sadness was gone (vs. 32) Hope was revived (vs. 33-48) They shared real facts with joy (vs. 49-53)
