HCOM 475: Senior Capstone

Workshop: Literature Review

The Study Group should read each member’s Literature Review and give each other
feedback. Always point out what works first before suggesting what could be revised.
Remember that the goal of the Study Group is to help each other produce an excellent
Capstone Project. You can use the questions below as a guide.

(1) Does the Literature Review serve its purpose or does it read more like an Annotated
Bibliography? Discuss the purpose of a Literature Review.

(2) Are the essential “elements” or “sections” of a Literature Review covered? See
handout.
• Introduction
• Body of Review
• Conclusion

(3) Are the main sources described in the body of the Literature Review? Are they
grouped by discipline or by categories? Does the author describe how they relate to
the topic of the Capstone Project?

(4) Are all sources referenced inside of the Literature Review or footnoted with a Works
Cited page (MLA) or a Bibliography (Chicago Style) at the end of the review?

(5) Does the organization of the review work?

(5) Is the grammar and spelling correct?

(6) Other Feedback.
