ABSTRACT
Refrigerator is commonly used in live. Need of this refrigerator increase as well as growing of people. So, optimal design is needed to increase performance of this device. Consider high performance with low energy, many refrigerant is used to find suitable condition. Other way is manipulate design of wire and tube condenser attached in refrigerator to find optimal condition. Many research about suitable refrigerant have developed well in this country. But, study about optimum design of wire and tube condenser in this country is still rare. Furthermore, it is needed to develop study optimization about optimal geometric to local wire and tube condenser. Wire-and-tube condensers have been used in domestic refrigerators for decades. This type of condenser consists of a single steel tube bent into a serpentine tube bundle with pairs of steel wires welded onto opposite sides of the tube to serve as extended surfaces. Wire-and-tube condensers employ either natural convection or forced convection heat transfer on the air side. Natural convection wire-and-tube condensers typically consist of a single bank attached to the back of a refrigerator. They are coated in black paint to increase the emissivity to increase the radiation heat transfer. This optimization study is worked using Bansal and Chin Model to calculate heat capacity remove from wire and tube condenser. This model will be validated using data from previous research with local operational condition. Variables optimization are diameter and pitch of wire. Objective function is heat load per mass of wire and tube. Hooke-Jeeves method is used to optimize this model. In this experiment oil is used as fluid work inside wire and tube with temperature inlet 500 C. The total weight of basic design of previous wire and tube is 3,088 Kg and produce 46,26 watt heat load. Base on this Project the optimal optimation factor is 1,2976, 7 mm in pitch wire and 0,8 mm in diameter. Using this design, mass total used about 73% of basic design and provide 94% heat load of previous design. Key words : wire and tube heat exchanger, heat load per mass of wire and tube, optimization of geometric.
