Pastor Stanley Pace of Oaklawn Avenue Presbyterian Church, Lafayette, Louisana, Gays are Worthy of Death Sermon downloaded

July 12, 2012 27:16 (At the beginning he is quoting form some non Christian he read) The homosexual character is governed by an abnormal fear of aging and death. As a result the homosexual insists on dressing and acting the part of perpetual youth, in particular immature youth. This faade is maintained at all times as a religious thing. The worship of youth leads to an adoption of styles which dress youth and especially recall the innocent child, the young preadolescent child. This is a non Christian who is not against homosexuality, this is his observations about homosexuality in a culture. What he says that the homosexuals (they) are looking for is an amoral world, a world without morality of perpetual childhood. To be beyond good and evil, because maturity means responsibility, law standards, a working world. Therefore in mental attitude, style, perpetual

pose this attitude of childhood and youth is cultivated. In effect we are never going to grow up into the world of law, responsibility, and morality. Im not saying all that he says is true and accurate, an accurate perspective, but look at the perspective he has, a non Christian. Its just interesting that he has made observations about this movement as a whole, that are not flattering. He says it is governed by an abnormal fear of aging and death. Doesnt that make you think of something we have just read here in Romans? They know the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, and it terrifies them. And this grasping after perpetual youth is a manifestation of their terror at what they know to be the coming judgment of God. Here is another non Christian writer not hostile towards homosexuality, Because there is this instance on being immature never growing up and assuming responsibility there is a war against standards (this is the same one I am just

continuing) if there is a standard that has to be attacked and an anti standard has to be made and thus homosexuals delight in making studied vulgarity. high style (Note- said with a sneer). They delight in making studied vulgarity high style, its the anti standard. Whatever is vulgar is opposed to all the standards and norms of society, and they study that vulgarity, that anti standard and set it up as the standard. And if you watch videos of those who are promoting their agenda, it is, every other word is the F-Bomb, FULL of vulgarity. And that is exactly how Paul describes them here, in this theyre inventors of evil things. Theyre filled with awe and righteousness, malicious evil-minded haters of God, violent, violent against all standards, violent against all who would hold to a Biblical standard of morality. Theyre violent, Im saying they, I am speaking in broad strokes just as these non Christians are speaking in broad strokes, again Im not dealing in this moment with an individual homosexual, nor am I giving you instructions on how you ought to speak and relate to an individual

homosexual. Im not yet saying what your agenda, as a Christian ought to be, I havent even said what our agenda of the church ought to be. Im simply making the observation about the movement as a whole, and I think we have to be able to make those observations, and right now all I am doing is reading what non Christians have observed about the movement as a whole. And this non Christian says that these homosexuals as a whole, and as a movement, delight in making studied vulgarity high style. Prominent fashion editor in New York 30 years ago Marvin Bender (name?) was not hostile towards homosexuality, comments on camp taste, camp was, is, the slang for homosexuals, soon known for homosexuality and the movement, and makes the same observations as to how they are anti standards, as how they try to subvert standards. How they set up an anti standard in the way they speak, I, the way they dress, and the way they act and pose, and this is an attempt to subvert law standards, with anti law, law. To replace esthetic standards with vulgarity as a standard.

Here is another observation, homosexuals are bitterly, bitterly hostile to families, to small town culture, and to small town cultures stability. Thats a fascinating observation by a non Christian who is not opposed to homosexuality. See we have to understand that the homosexual agenda is a hatred of Gods reality. It has an insistence of warring against Gods reality, and living in a world of make believe, and thus theatre is its natural place. And the theatre has always been a place where homosexuals are prominent. Homosexuals control of theatre has been prominent from the Roman times and its, heres something interesting its particularly characterized by its prostituting of women and the delight in exposing them to degradation and shame. Thats a manifestation of the homosexual agenda in theatre, of degrading women, well talk about that later and see if we can make a connection as to why. 35:13

Lets look for a moment of the Biblical view well go through the Old Testament, then well come back to Romans. The Bible without reservation is emphatic in its condemnation of homosexuality and is very clear that the penalty for homosexuality the righteous penalty for this act is death. That it requires on a cultural level in a society, as part of any righteous societies legal code, the death penalty. Thats what the Bible says. If we, unless we take the alternative view that the Old Testament doesnt matter and its completely different than grace that we see in the New Testament when we set up this false dichotomy of law and grace. But if we just say the Bible, what does the Bible say, how does the Bible instruct a righteous society which was Israels society that God was setting up? I think we at least have to say that the death penalty for the homosexual act, I dont say for the homosexual Im not speaking about orientation, Im just saying for the act is death, thats a righteous penalty. Its something God administered at one time in history and we cant say that anything God administered is unrighteous, we have to at least say that its

righteous. Whether or not we promote it, whether or not we say it ought to be implemented in any culture our society says, then we can at least say that it is a righteous administration. Leviticus 18:22 Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, that is detestable Leviticus 20:13 If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman both of them have done what is detestable, or abomination. They are to be put to death. The two men are to be put to death their blood will be on their own hands. Interestingly enough God doesnt require the death penalty for lesbians, well talk about that in a moment, maybe if we get there, Im only to page 2 and Ive got 6 pages so we probably wont. But here we have Leviticus and those who object that this is not a universal, cannot be a universal law, it cannot apply to every culture, the morality pictured here, regardless of the

penalty for the act, that this verse says that the act is wrong and immoral. We, if we are not going to settle on that, then we have to look at the next verse and not settle on it either because the next verse doesnt deal with the homosexual act, the next verse deals with bestiality. The next verse says, do not have sexual relations with an animal and defile yourself with it. A woman must not present herself to an animal to have sexual relations with it, that is perversion. And so if were not willing to say that homosexuality is a perversion, we cant say that bestiality is a perversion either. But if the text in Leviticus 18:23 applies to bestiality and condemns it as a perversion, I mean it is pretty obvious isnt it, that a man and a beast dont go together they cant make babies, well then, also a man and a man is a perversion. Thats what it says, regardless of the penalty. That all aside whether or not if it should be implemented, I think we can at least conclude from Leviticus, these two passages, that both of these things are perversions, theyre detestable, they are an abomination.

Paul though when he talks about it Romans 1:26 and he talks about this, when we looked when we looked at Leviticus we were looking at the individual act, the individual person committing the individual act. When Paul talks about it he speaks about it corporately, he talks about it as a cultural marker when it happens as a whole in society they, he says they, and they and they, are given over you see and its a sign then of cultural apostasy., as a whole. Thats not to say that an individual if they are in this situation because the situations vary from individual to individual is apostatizing and has no hope of coming back. But when it happens in a culture, culture wide that culture is on the verge of judgment and that is what Paul is driving at, one of the things he is driving at in Romans 1. What he says here is that this is a culmination in 1:26 and 1:27 is a culmination of mans apostasy, man burns in their lust towards one another that is the real translation is that man is burned up, that is hes burning out. His life is burning out, some people translate it or take it to mean its a burning of fire of judgment, of flames of judgment, but ??? takes it to mean that man,

corporately speaking, man is burning out as a culture. And he goes on, Paul goes on to give the consequences of a culture that manifests this sin, the concomitant aspects of it as we saw is a total hatred of law in every sphere, thats the burning out of man. Its the burning out of his society and structures that comprise it, the structure of the family, the structure of Godly Government. And they receive in themselves that retribution which was the consequent which was necessary, its the nature of the case because deviation from nature that their culture would burn out. There was a pastor recently that was strongly ridiculed the things he said and the way he said it as he preached a sermon, I think it was up in the Carolinas somewhere. He said something to the effect that uh, homosexuals we know we ought to take them all and put them in a fenced off area, put them all there and theyll all die there because they cant reproduce. Oh man it made a lot of Christians angry because Christians ought not say anything like that.

Granted maybe he wasnt so tactful in the way he said it and he wasnt all that articulate, but maybe that is exactly what his congregation needed. They needed to hear it just like he said it, and they knew exactly what he meant, but I certainly didnt take his meaning to be that we ought to round up all the homosexuals and put them in a fence in an isolated area and let them die. Thats not what he was saying if that were this hypothetical situation were the case they would die off because they cant reproduce. His point was its unnatural and its obviously unnatural because they cant reproduce. And part of nature, part of what it means to be human is that a man and woman have babies. Its really very simple I got from just a very short clip of it I got the news what his point was. They tried to edit it and make it look like some angry Christian who wants to kill homosexuals. Hes probably a Methodist (giggle) no I think he was a Baptist. So its unfortunate how the media jumps on the bandwagon and tries to condemn a Godly condemnation of it.

But the homosexual agenda very clearly, is very clearly portrayed as that which constitutes a war against God, it is a denial of Gods natural order and law in the ultimate form and that is why it manifests all these other anti God anti structure anti law manifestations. The Bible says it is a perversion that has a prominent theological aspect as we said it occurs at the end of an age . Its singled out a symptomatic of a world about to face judgment or of a nation about to face judgment, of a nation in radical apostasy. When it becomes characteristic of a nation that nation is in radical apostasy and is about to face judgment. Indeed it is already facing judgment in the very form of the perversion. Well theres some other things I really would like to get to today but Im not going to. Were going to leave off with having read the Leviticus passages having made some points from the Romans passages, next time we are going to look at, we also looked at the objections and the reconstruction of these Biblical texts, we are going to look at that a little closer next week. And also how Christians subvert not only the Bibles perspective but a historical perspective

of the churches understanding of homosexuality. Thats one of the raising items nowadays that confuse and upset a lot of unsuspecting Christians who thought that the church always had a unified voice against homosexuality. It has actually, but there are some very influential scholars who have come out saying the opposite, saying that the church allowed for in this place and that place and even hat liturgical rights for, we are going to speak to that next week. But I want to end with what I began with and that is the question where is the church in all of this, because the judgment begins with the household of God. We are to be salt and light, we are to be preservative if the salt looses its savor wherewith shall it be salted you cant salt salt if its lost its flavor how will it be salted? Its good for nothing and it ought to be thrown away. We are the salt and were not to loose our savor as a church but we are to preserve the culture by the uniqueness of salt and we are to flavor it and make it good like Thomas Charmer says for every Christian the gospel make, it makes ten good men. But when Christians deconstruct what the scriptures teach in any area they stand

to loose the most and they end up shaping culture as they try to accommodate culture they end up shaping culture to be anti Biblical and anti God. And judgment begins with us so we have to be salt and light and one of the ways to be that preservative is to preserve the truth from the pulpit which I hope this contributes a very small piece to you and for you to be strong in your own understanding and nuanced in it as well as we continue to seek to do as we go through this series. He who heeds the Word wisely will find good and whoever trusts in Jehovah happy is he.
