Subject: US Congress Pa.

9th To: Chambersburg Public Opinion The following is a comment or question for the editors or webmaster: Publisher Public Opinion It has become apparent that the US Congress is in disarray with continued infighting, confrontation, lack of leadership, plus a denial of cooperation resulting in partisan politics without concern for 99 percent of the citizens of this country. Allow me to introduce myself, Adam C. Sedlock, Jr., Democrat, Licensed Psychologist, a candidate for the Pennsylvania 9th District, House of Representatives of Congress of the United States of America. When I became aware that the Pa. 9th District was remapped to include our area and that the incumbent Republican Congressman was running unopposed in the primary, I was appalled. In this day and age, I could not believe that the local and state Democratic Party could have permitted this error. I began the process of inquiry as to why the Democratic Party did not put up a challenger. Attempts of contacting the Fayette County and State Democratic Party leaders proved fruitless until after the primary election. Therefore I began a grass roots write in campaign, a long shot, but ultimately approved in accordance with the bylaws of the Pa. State Democratic Party Unfortunately, career politicians have only listened to those who fund their campaigns. I will not subscribe to this train of thought. Our founding fathers did not envision a career politician. They envisioned a Democracy where citizens would represent themselves, not corporations. Citizen leaders would serve their country for a termed period and then return to the private sector and carry out their profession. We need representation of the people, by the people and for the people. I pledge to provide such. The top 1 percent should and must pay their fair share of taxes. They are not the job creators, we all are. Every one of us are in this boat together and must row equally in order to continue out of this economic storm. I envision a tax system where we all pay fairly, individuals and corporations. We must all pay our fair share in taxes. After all, do we not use the same roads and receive protection from the same military? If we all pay fairly, we will all benefit fairly! Our country is at a crossroads. After the unprecedented failed economic strategies of the Bush administration propelled us into a great Depression, we have begun an economic recovery based on innovation and change. However, the radical Republican fueled agenda of a lack of mediation and cooperation have led to a lowering of this countrys credit rating, purposeful slowed recovery, and the demonstrated need for replacing control of the Pa. 9th District. Cooperation in Congress is the key to success for the United States. Our founding fathers provided for rule by a system of checks and balances. Out of the three branches of government, the Executive, Legislative and Judicial, the Legislative branch has stalled in progress due to a lack of dialog and rapport. We must make a change to ensure a system that perpetuates what the creators of this Word Leader Democracy envisioned. I wish to inform you of my commitment to represent the Democratic party when elected to Congress and to seek your support.

I am the only candidate born in the Ninth District, educated (St. Johns Elementary, Perryopolis; Frazier High School, Perryopolis; California University of Pa., California) in the Ninth District, life- long resident of the Ninth District, and work in the Ninth District. As a the owner of a behavioral health care practice, I am a small businessman. I am fully aware of the needs of a family-owned businesses where employees are treated with respect as a family member, not just a number. I represent the 99 percent who pay their fair share of taxes. I come from a middle class family whose grandparents traveled to this country from Poland and Czechoslovakia in order to have a chance to better themselves and their children. This fundamental concept of freedom and drive to succeed is what has made this country a world leader. It is We the People who are this democracy, not We the Corporations. It is now time to place control of this countrys destiny in the hands of the 99 percent majority! Cooperation across the table, in the best interest of the middle class, is the key to success. We need to look at the broken legislative system in our country. The lack of professionalism coupled with a lack of work ethic has resulted in a stagnation of our democracy. Growing up and working on my grandfathers farm, where everyone pitched in to bale hay instilled a work ethic of cooperation in order to receive the benefits of the harvest. This great country is made up of many nationalities and as The Great Melting Pot we must find a way to communicate and cooperate in order to succeed. My professional training and education as a psychologist, a people expert, provides me the ability to aid in this process of legislative dialog while representing our interests. I have received leadership training and experience over the past decades, as a member of the Board of Directors, Chair- Legislative and Governmental Affairs, Rural Health Coordinator and Disaster Response Network Coordinator of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association (the second largest psychological association in the US with over 3000 professional members) and the American Psychological Association. I fully support the constitutional Affordable Care Act and the Presidential policies of our Democratic Party! As you are well aware, this is a grassroots write-in campaign, as the Independent Party and recently flip-flopped Democratic Party candidate will appear on the November ballot along with the incumbent Republican. This is what Democracy is all about, we can make it happen! Your support is greatly appreciated! I would like the opportunity to meet you and the Editorial Board members in order to explain my views.
