General Information
Important Information
Classes fill quickly. Payment is due at the time of registration. Students unable to pay will be placed on a waiting list until payment is received. Multi Arts Center accepts cash, checks, and credit cards. Checks should be made payable to Multi Arts Center and checks for supply fees to the class instructor.

Supplies
If no supply fee or list is shown, supplies are included in the cost of the class. Supply fees can only be paid by cash or check; checks should be made out in the name of the instructor. Students are responsible for purchasing their own supplies if a class indicates a supply list. Students should keep their receipts in the event items need to be returned.

Refund Policy
Classes with insufficient enrollment will be cancelled and all fees returned. No refunds will be granted after the first class, or if a student misses any classes. Cancellations by a student must be made no later than one week prior to the class for fees to be refunded. No refunds or credits will be given for student cancellations less than one week prior to the class.

How About a Party?


We do Birthday Parties, Girls Night Out Parties, Teen Parties and More! Most of our birthday parties are for children, but we can also do teens and even adults. How cool would it be to have a surprise birthday party at Multi Arts Center for a co-worker? We provide the materials and a host/instructor for many types of art projectssuch as drawing/cartooning, fused glass pendants, slumped glass dishes, beaded jewelry and more! Open Studio
Open studios are ongoing, year-round opportunities to advance your skills by working independently. Students must be able to demonstrate previous experience in their chosen media. Fees apply to students who are not currently enrolled in the corresponding class at Multi Arts Center. The space is available during regular hours, when it is not being used by a scheduled class. Any changes in the Open Studio Policies will be posted at the center or emailed to those who participate in open studio ten days prior to the date they go into effect.

Ceramics and Sculpture Studio


Fee: $12 per week. You are responsible for providing your own clay. You may make clay in the pug mill for $10.00 per 25 pounds of clay. Students who have not taken a ceramics class at Multi Arts Center must take an orientation class to determine eligibility. Orientation fee: $25

Weaving Studio Fee: $10 per month Quilting Studio Fee: $10 per month
You are responsible for providing cutters and a sewing machine. Grand Quilter Machine-$4 per hour

Stained Glass Studio


Fee: $10 per month Special permission from the instructor is needed to participate. You are responsible for providing all expendable materials, including glass, foil, copper, solder, etc.

Jewelry & Metals Studio Fee: $20 per month


Only students who have successfully completed Jewelry & Metals II and have permission from instructor Joseph Richardson may participate in this open studio. Fee includes the use of solder, acetylene, wax and vestment. All other supplies are the responsibility of the student.

Glass Fusing Studio


Fee: $20 per monthincludes two large tray firings per month; additional fees apply for slumping and over two firings per month: large shelf firings (over 2) are $2; slump firing is $1 for molds up to 5 and $2 for molds over 5 in size. Permission from the instructor is needed to participate. You are responsible for providing all expendable materials, including glass, glue, etc.

Darkroom Studio Fee: $12 per week.

Beginning Glass Fusing
Class Fee: $20 per session Supply fee: $25 Instructor: Claire Zevnik Learn the basic techniques of glass fusing. Learn to cut, design, layer, and fuse glass to turn your ideas into eye-catching sun-catchers, jewelry pieces, and more! Glass is provided in supply fee. Two sessions from which to choose. Introduction to Glass Bead Making


Class Fee: $45 plus MAPP gas Instructor: Lori Bode This is an introductory class on glass bead making. It will cover the characteristics of a good bead, equipment and supplies needed to create beads, and how to make glass beadsfrom forming beads to working with frit to making twisty beads! Class dates: Session 1: Sept 10 Oct 1 (Mondays for 4 weeks) Session 1: Oct 15 Nov 5 (Mondays for 4 weeks) Ages: 14 and up Minimum students: 3 Maximum: 6 NOTE: Students will need to supply MAPP gas (available at hardware/plumbing stores)

Garden Glass Workshop


Class Fee: $20 Supply Fee: $25 Instructor: Claire Zevnik Create fused glass items for your garden in this class. We will create fused glass flowers, critters and small tiles! We will attach them to metal stakes to decorate the garden or house plants or use them to create wind chimes. Glass, stakes, and stringing materials will be provided for the supply fee. Beginning Fundamentals Using TiffanyStyle Stained Glass Technique


Class Fee: $55 per session Instructor: Oro Briscoe Would you like to capture the sunlight in vivid rainbow colors for your own window? Learn how to cut glass, foil, and solder your own stained glass piece at your own pace. Tools and materials provided. Pumpkin Plates
Class Fee: $20 Supply fee: $20 Instructor: Claire Zevnik Create a fun decoration or a useful dining tool in this class! You will make two glass plates with fun pumpkin designs in this class in time for Halloween and Thanksgiving! Class date: Oct 6 from 10 1 (Saturday) Ages: 14 and up Minimum students: 3 Maximum: 8

Glass Slumping Workshop


Class Fee: $40 Supply Fee: $10 and your own base glass Instructor: Claire Zevnik Learn to create glass dishes, plates, and more! Students will fuse a base piece that will then be slumped into a mold to give them shape. Students must provide the base glass. Glass must be either 90 COE or 96 COE and can be purchased online or from Art Glass Emporium on Highway 33 just west of Langston. Molds and small amounts of 90 COE colored scrap glass are included in class fee. Class dates: Sept 8 & 15 from 10 - 1 (Saturdays) Ages: 14 and up Minimum students: 3 Maximum: 8

Instructor: Jack & Maggie Gordon Class Description: Students will learn techniques for shaping glass in a kiln. Prerequisites: basic fusing knowledge, glass cutting and grinding skills. Praying in Color
Class Fee: FREE - Call to reserve your spot! Instructor: Mo Wassell If you love color and youve ever found you dont know what to pray for, or you find your mind wandering, or you just hunger for a new way to interact with God, then you can do this! No drawing experience necessary. Using doodle techniques and simple materials like paper and colored pencils/crayons/ markers (or your favorite journal), you will take your prayer life into a new and meaningful place. Fiber Arts
Beginning Floor Loom Weaving
Class Fee: $55 Supply Fee: $5 Instructor: Pat Brainard This class is great for beginners or weavers who need a refresher course. Students will learn to wind a warp, warp a floor loom and read a simple draft to create a beautiful woven projects. Experienced student can design their own projects with help from the instructor. Supplies included for beginning students, advanced students should expect to purchase their own fibers. Confetti Building Crazy Quilt


Class Fee: $20 plus Supply List Instructor: Sherrill Lewis Chain piece, press and slice your way to a happily haphazard, easy and fast way to piece a crazy quilt! If you dont care for the 5-side-center bullseye effect, then you will enjoy this fun method! Class date: Oct 27 from 9 - 3 (Saturday) Ages: 14 and up Minimum Students: 4 Maximum: 20

Making Slacks and Shorts that Fit


Class Fee: $25 Supply Fee: $3 Instructor: Dr. Jan Wilson Workshop will be hands on, making a pattern for pants and shorts. Students will alter a commercial pattern to fit comfortably, prepare a permanent pattern in muslin. Students must bring: 1 commercial pattern, pins, sewing machine and thread and 4 yards inexpensive, 45 wide muslin. Pre-requisite: basic sewing skills required Class Date: Oct 4 from 6-9 (Thursday) Ages: 15 and up Minimum: Maximum: 6

SOS Surviving Occasional Sewing Basic Hand Sewing


Class Fee: $40 Instructor: Barbara Fulton This is a beginner class that will introduce participants to basic hand sewing tools, techniques and applications. Participants will learn how to use pins, needles, thread, pliers, and thimbles. They will explore the components of fabric and their importance in clothing construction and design, and learn the structural difference between printed vs. woven fabric where mending is concerned. The highlight will be when participants sew on a button, mend a button hole, mend torn seams as well as repair a hem, zipper and garment tear. Cooking
Authentic Asian Indian Cooking
Class Fee:$55 Instructor: Vandana Jaiswal Students will learn to cook simple, authentic Asian/ Indian foods (Tandoori Chicken, Naan, briyani). Recipes and methods will be demonstrated in a step-by-step manner. There will be an overview of ingredients, including spices, and students can re-create the dishes at home and bring questions to the second class. Students will get to sample food and ask questions during class. Recipes will be provided to take home. Table Loom Weaving

Class Fee: $30 Supply Fee: $10 Instructor: Gina Levesque This class will introduce students to the basics of winding warps, warping the loom and basic types of weaves. This is a good introduction for those with an interest in weaving, but without the space for a full size floor loom. Each student will take home their sampler and handouts detailing the basics of weaving. Class Date: Nov 17 from 9-5 (Saturday) Ages: 14 and up Minimum: 4 Maximum: 8

What Do I Do with the Rest of that Roast?


Class Fee: $30 Supply Fee: Announced at first class Instructor: Jaquie Savage The first day the class will prepare a beef roast, pork roast and a whole chicken. While the meats are cooking the class will learn about how to use herbs in their everyday cooking & get tips on making dishes from left overs. The following day the class will slice and dice then stir up 3 dishes using the meats that were cooked the day before. So Sew
Class Fee: $15 Supply Fee: $5 plus fabric and other necessities of choice Instructor: Jan Wilson Students will make two projects. In the first four weeks students will learn how to make an A Line skirt. A tote bag or purse will be made during the next four weeks. Students who have a portable sewing machine are encouraged to bring in their own; a limited quantity is available for use at Multi Arts Center. Painting and Drawing


Landscapes Impressionist Style
Class Fee: $90 plus Supply List Instructor: Linda Kerth This class is for beginning art students or those new to oil painting, but students of any skill level are welcome. Classes will have short lectures and demonstrations by the instructor. Most of your class time will be used to create your own Impressionist-style painting. Students will learn color theory, composition, color mixing, value scales, use of brush stroke and texture, and the visual language of art! Class Dates: Oct 16 Dec 4 from 6:00 8:30 (Tuesdays for 8 weeks) Ages: 16 - 106 Minimum students: 3 Maximum: 10

Beginning Drawing
Class Fee: $70 plus Supply List Instructor: Lewis Moses This class will explore the fundamentals of shape, form, perspective, shape, contrast, lights, and darks. The instructors goal is to have each student draw more realistically and to have fun working toward that goal! Class dates: Sept 5 Oct 24 from 6 - 8 (Thursdays for 8 weeks) Ages: 9 - adult Minimum students:3 Maximum: 12

Drawing (Beginner)
Class Fee: $50 plus Supply List Instructor: Morgan McClellan The course is essentially a How to drawing course. The range and depth of study will present the tools necessary to work representational and creatively. The goal is that students will simultaneously develop technique and begin the process of finding their voice in 2-dimentional art. Class Dates: Aug 14 Sept 18 (Tuesdays for 6 weeks) Ages: 16+ Minimum: 5 Maximum: 15

Amazing Acrylics
Class Fee: $50 plus Supply List given first day of class Instructor: Corianne Thompson Acrylics are certainly amazing! User friendly acrylics are the way to go for anyone interested in learning about painting and how great it can be. Through this introductory course student swill learn various acrylic painting techniques and the basics of painting. By the end of the course students will have created three projects. Foundations in Drawing
Class Fee: $95 plus Supply List Instructor: Joseph Richardson This drawing class is designed for the beginner student, based on the belief that anyone who can hold a pencil has the ability to draw. Students will alternate between drawing exercises and still life pieces to build their skills from the foundational level to the finer mechanisms of drawing. Intermediate/Advanced Oil Painting


Class Fee: $60 plus Supply List Instructor: Morgan McClellan This course will help students to strengthen their command over oil paint and propel them to evaluate and fulfill their own personal goals with in the medium. While everything from old master techniques in figure painting to a stripped-down focus on mark making will be covered, the idea is that students will sift through the possibilities of painting and refine their voice in the medium. Watercolor
Class Fee: $95 plus Supply List Instructor: Joseph Richardson Beginning lessons covering the fundamentals of watercolor. Students must already possess rudimentary drawing skills. This class alternates between lessons that focus on technique and theory, and still-life sessions. Digital Photography
Class Fee: $35 Instructor: Mark Waits Take your digital photography to the next level. Stop taking snapshots and start making impactful photos that you can be proud of. Feel confident using your digital camera and learn simple but effective editing techniques using Adobe Lightroom, an easy to use software program. Learn the digital photography workflow from shooting to editing to printing. Students should have a basic understanding of their camera's functions and basic computer skills such as transferring files from a camera to a computer. Class dates: Sept 11-Oct 9 from 6 to 8 plus a Saturday field trip on 09/22 (Tuesdays for 4 weeks) Ages: 13 and up Minimum Students: 4 Maximum: 15

Gourd Art
Gourd Dolls
Class Fee: $30 Supply Fee: $20 Instructor: Rick Crawford Students will learn to clean gourds and prepare them for design and dressing. They will also sculpt and paint clay faces, and create and design clothing from leather, cloth, feathers, and beads as well as personal items brought from home. Class date: Oct 8 - 22 from 4 to 7 (Mondays for 3 weeks) Ages: 13 and up Minimum Students: 4 Maximum: 10 Gourd Vessel Class Fee: $35 Instructor: Iris Eby Students in this class will make a bowl/vessel with a woven pine needle rim. Digital Photography (beginner)


Class Fee:$15 Instructor: Jason Wallace Lets figure out how to take photos! You will learn an overview of camera terminology, learn the basics of what makes a photograph work, and this will get you started shooting! No camera required, but it would be helpful. Threat, Check, & Checkmate! by Oklahoma Chess Academy
Class Fee: $ 60 Supply Fee: $10 Instructor: Cristian Spencer Learn determination, confidence, and mental focus through the age-old game of chess in a fun and interactive classroom! In our beginner class students will learn chess theory, tactics, and strategy resulting in a full knowledge of a game proven to advance memory, math, and problem solving skills. Intermediate students will enter the exciting world of competitive chess. Bring a good attitude and desire to learn! Digital Photography (intermediate)


Class Fee: $35 Supply Fee:$15 Instructor: Jason Wallace You really want to get into photography. You will learn what is required for a shoot, how to set up the camera, and how to develop and organize the images using Adobe Lightroom. This class will require a digital camera- SLR preferred with raw capture capability. A computer is recommended, but not necessary to bring to class. Sculpture
Clay Sculpture of the Human Form
Class Fee: $80 Instructor: Mike Smolen The class will use a live model and photographs to create a portrait (and a full figure if time) in waterbased clay. All ability levels are welcome. This will be a fun class for both experienced and novice sculptors. No experience is required. Instruction will be provided primarily for beginning students. Sculptures will be fired as permanent artwork. Class dates: Sept 4 Oct 23 from 7-9 (Tuesdays for 8 weeks) Ages: 18 and up Minimum students: 4 Maximum: 8

Jewelry
Jewelry and Metals II
Class Fee: $145 Supply list: discussed in first class. Instructor: Joseph Richardson Description: Students will continue building upon their techniques in metalsmithing, including casting, enamel, mokume gane, and project requests from the class. Pre-requisite: Jewelry and Metals I, taken during a previous semester. Class Date: Wednesdays for 12 weeks TBA (no class Nov 12 or 26) Ages: Adult

Sparkling Spiral Bracelet


Class Fee: $15 Supply Fee: $20 Instructor: Katie Arroyo Make a beautiful beaded bracelet using crystals, seed beads, and accent beads. The Sparkling Spiral Bracelet takes less than 3 hours to make. In this class students will use a simple spiral weaving technique to make a sparkling bracelet with toggle clasp closure. Techniques learned can be used to create other beautiful pieces of jewelry. Intro to Silver Metal Clay


Class Fee: $15 Supply Fee: $55 must be paid by Aug 15 Instructor: Claire Zevnik Silver Metal Clay is a pliable material that can be easily molded and shaped using the hands or simple tools. When fired, the clay becomes a solid precious metal, 99% silver. Students will create simple jewelry pieces. Class Date: Aug 24 from 1:30 - 4:30 (Saturday) Ages: 13+ Minimum: 3 Maximum: 8

Flat Spiral Bracelet

Techniques learned can be used to create other beautiful pieces of jewelry. Basic beading experience is preferred but not required. . Mixed Media
Inner Landscapes: The Series
Class Fee: Session 1:$20, Session 2:$25, Session 3:$35 Supply Fee: $2 per workshop Instructor: Mo Wassell A series of 3 workshops using collage and journaling techniques. Focus will be on personal creativity and letting art reveal to you rather than creating a product for view by others. Workshop #1: In This House Houses can symbolize so many aspects of us and our lives. What will yours reveal? We will build a 3D house using paper mache form. Workshop #2: See Me Dolls We will create a 2D doll using papers, fabric, magazines, and various embellishments. Workshop #3: Freedom Painting Following the inspiration of artist Flora Bowley, we will create a large painting using acrylics and a variety of tools, which will then be cut and bound into a journal. Pottery and Clay


Pottery Class Fees include 25 pounds of clay. If a students wishes to use more clay they may purchase it for $10 per 25 pounds.

Mixed Media
Autumn Inspiration
Class Fee: $15 Supply Fee: $5 Instructor: Evelyn Quillen Artists, beginner to advanced, will be inspired using a leaf motif to create 3 projects; a sketch journal, note cards, and wearable art, using leaf prints, rubbings, stenciling, collage, drawing and painting. They will learn design elements of line, shape, texture, contrast, space, & balance to compose their own unique designs in a relaxing class inspired by nature. Class dates: Sept 6 - 20 from 11:30-1:30 (Fridays for 3 weeks) Ages: 18+ Minimum students: 3 Maximum: 8

Playing with Clay


Class Fee: $130 Instructor: Tandi Memmott Students will have the opportunity to experiment with clay and learn techniques in wheel throwing and hand building. This great introductory class has a relaxed atmosphere that allows students to experiment while learning the basic skills needed (wedging, centering, throwing, slab building etc.) to create their own projects. Learn to make beautiful and functional ceramic glazed pieces. Class dates: Sept 10 - Nov 12 from 6-9 (Mondays for 10 weeks) Ages: 13 and up Minimum students: 3 Maximum: 10

Paint a Mask
Class Fee: $15 Supply Fee: $10 Instructor: Evelyn Quillen Beginners to advanced will enjoy creating their own design by using a mask shape as a canvas. A face can become a landscape, an animal, a disguise or a statement about society. Well use a variety of materials to take a face from nothing to something special that expresses feelings. Class date: Sept 29 from1- 4 (Saturday) Ages: 14+ Minimum students: 3 Maximum: 8

Beginning and Intermediate Pottery


Class Fee: $65 Instructors: Helen Jordan and Charlotte Ownby Students will be introduced to basic techniques of wheel throwing and glazing in this fun class. Class dates: Oct 12 Nov 16 from 1 3 pm (Fridays for 6 weeks) Ages: 18 and up Minimum students: 3 Maximum: 12

Recycled Witches & Scarecrows Pottery Progression


Class Fee: $140 Instructor: Hunter Wade This class will take the student through the different methods of clay building from simple hand building to complex wheel throwing and using molds. Advanced Pottery with Buck Dollarhide

Christmas Gingerbread Cookies: Edible and Non-Edible
Class Fee: $20 Supply Fee: $5 Instructor: Evelyn Quillen Well make gingerbread cookies we can eat and salt dough cookies to keep. Rollout, bake, and decorate both. Fun for all, edible dough with icing and sprinkles and salt dough provided with paint. Well bake salt dough first, then gingerbread. Recipes provided so you can make again at home. Tie Dye like a Pro


Class Fee: $45 plus Supply List Instructor: Teri Ann Harvey Students will learn the basics of tie dying, including mixing chemicals and dyes, folding and dying of beginning and intermediate patterns, and many tips and tricks to help the student achieve stunning results. We will be using Dharma Fiber Reactive Procion dyes for these projects and by the end of class they will have learned how to tie dye spirals, hearts, marbles, Vs, and peace signs. Quillow
Class Fee:$10 Supply List: 2 yds of cotton fabric, 2 yrds of contrasting /coordinating cotton fabric, thread to match fabric, and sewing machine Instructor: Tanya Barngrover This class will make a personal sized blanket that has its own pillow. This quilt will fold into a pocket and travels easily. No previous sewing skills are needed.
