About the Author : Mr. Lonetree holds several degrees in the fields of Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications and Data Acquisition. Introduction It is my hope this book will explain in laymans terms what Schumann Resonance is all about and how it played a role in our well being before the advent of modern day Electromagnetic pollution. First an explanation of Schumann Resonance is in order. Schumann is a product of lightning discharges occurring in the Earths Ionospheric Cavity. Simply put, picture the surface of the Earth as the surface of a big ball. Above the Earth we have the atmosphere . The atmosphere is composed of layers, one being the Ionosphere. This layer has the ability to act as a reflector or mirror. Picture this layer as another ball surrounding the ball we call Earth. Between the surface of the Earth or inner ball and the D-Layer or outer ball we end up with a cavity or hollow area. This cavity contains the air we breathe and where weather is created. At any given second somewhere on the planet up to one hundred lightning discharges are occurring. As a product of the shape, volume and area of the cavity, seven independent resonances or vibrations occur as a result of lightning discharge. To explain it another way picture a bell. The inside or hollow area of the bell when struck by the clapper produces a sound or vibration. Usually just one fundamental tone is produced. The Earths Ionospheric cavity however produces seven independent sounds or vibrations as a product of lightning acting just as the clapper striking the bell. The seven resonances or vibrations occur at the following frequencies: The first at 7. 83 Hz. or cycles. The second at 14 Hz. The third at 21 Hz. The fourth at 26 Hz. The fifth at 31 to 33 Hz. The sixth at 39 Hz. And the seventh at 45 Hz. Some like to refer to resonances after the first as harmonics. This is not quite true. They are related Mathematically but are not true harmonics. Each one is its own vibration and not a product of the first resonance at 7. 83 Hz. Others like to refer to Schumann Resonance as the Earths heartbeat or pulse. Another nice thought but the Earths own resonant vibration is closer to 10 Hz. or cycles. The mass and shape of the Earth play a role in Schumann Resonance but they are not the heartbeat. Personally I refer to the resonances as the Earths Voice. I This diagram should make things more clear. One would think these vibrational resonances occur only when lightning abounds. This is not the case. The resonances in scientific terminology are actually standing waves. Constant as long as lightning the catalyst keeps ringing the Ionospheric Cavity.

II Research Begins I moved to the Desert Southwest in 1999 to experience the desert with all its history and mystery. Being involved with a project in Flagstaff, my love of seeing new places brought me to Sedona. I had heard of its beauty and magic back in my native Midwest but was amazed at what else I discovered. Another research project I am involved with is listening to Sferics. Short for atmospherics. Without going into detail, listening to our atmosphere is listening to all the electrical discharges occurring at very low frequencies. The electronic equipment necessary is quite uncomplicated. One evening while listening to Sferics I noticed they were extremely strong in comparison to what I observe back in the Midwest. Several trips to the same location in Sedona produced identical results. A query of local storeowners brought up the subject of Vortex energy. Vortex Energy ? Good grief Whats this all about? Another New Age fabrication to attract the tourists? Though I hail from the Upper Midwest I should have been from Missouri. The Show Me State. Being a scientist at heart but having learned fact can originate from myth and legend I decided to begin a detailed analysis of this alleged Vortex Energy. After all, something was causing very low frequency signals to enhance in Sedona. The project in Flagstaff brought me in contact with a gentleman from the Navajo Nation. He asked if I had experienced Sedona yet and stated that is where the Earth speaks . His comment alone provided the needed inspiration and drive to explain scientifically what my equipment detected at very low frequencies. Additional observations in Sedona once again confirmed very low frequencies were enhanced at times. Visiting a few of the local stores I noticed quite a few books were dedicated to Vortex Energy. Several were purchased written by different authors. Though

the contents aroused my curiosity they did not satisfy my scientific need to either prove or disprove Vortex existence. I had no idea this need would take another three years to produce results. The first year was spent reading publication after publication on Power Spots and Sacred Sites. Correspondence with several Schumann Resonance Experts likewise ensued. One expert mentioned the possibility of Schumann Resonance being enhanced in a given location provided there was a very large deposit of a Magnetic substance close to the surface of the Earth. OK A large Magnetic Deposit close to the surface of the Earth. Why not? Sedona is full of rock formations composed of Iron Oxide and Silicon. Many other metals and minerals abound so why not a big piece of Magnetite several feet below the surface? Finding a large Magnetic deposit turned out to be more than walking around with a compass waiting for it to spin in circles. At this time I met another Schumann Resonance researcher from Flagstaff who told of an experience while he was in England at Stonehenge. Equipped with his electronic gear to observe the resonances he noticed they were affected at Stonehenge in comparison to other locations. Another thought entered my mind. If very low frequencies were being enhanced in Sedona why not ultra low frequencies as well? Schumann Resonance occupies a range known as ultra low frequencies. Design and construction of necessary equipment for the observation of Schumann Resonance proved to be quite an undertaking. Not something you can purchase at your local electronic store. Details of all the equipment used for this research can be found on my web site, listed at the end of this book. Lets discuss Schumann Resonance a bit more. Schumann is the scientist credited with first observing these vibrations back in 1952. Since then, it is now known Nikola Tesla discussed their existence many years prior to Schumann. It is my belief the ancients new of their existence thousands of years ago and learned to use these vibrations to their benefit. Chambers have been found within some of the minor pyramids in Egypt where certain sounds cause the chambers to resonate. Likewise I believe certain chambers were used to focus Schumann Resonance for the benefit of those meditating inside. An excellent book by Christopher Dunn called The Giza Power Plant sheds light on this subject. Consider our Human brain waves, Alpha and Theta in particular. I am not the first to speculate Schumann Resonance can alter brain wave activity in Humans. Many others have made this claim but to my knowledge this is the first scientific study to either prove or disprove the idea. Alpha occupies a frequency range of approximately 8 to 13 Hz. Theta a frequency of 4 to 7 Hz. Delta a frequency of 1 to 3 Hz. and Beta a frequency of 18 to 22 Hz. These four brain waves fall within the range of at least the first three Schumann Resonances. If we consider high Beta brain wave activity, above 22 Hz. more resonances can be utilized. One of Dr. Schumanns students came up with the theory that our nervous systems and brain waves developed as a process of being subjected to the Resonances. An interesting concept but we should keep in mind these vibrations are six times less than the Earths magnetic field in intensity! Very subtle indeed to say the least. On the other hand if we were located at a place where these vibrations were enhanced (amplified), then it is possible they could interact and influence brain wave activity. A Possible Biblical Connection The Book of Enoch is not contained in the Bible but portions of it were discovered among the Dead Sea Scrolls. Revelations took the place of Enoch. Or so I have been informed. Enoch was quite an interesting man who had many visions and experiences. I will not discuss his story here other than to make reference to one of his conversations with God. From the Book of Enoch

Chapter 27 Of how God founded the water, and surrounded it with light, and established on it seven islands. 1 And I commanded that there should be taken from light and darkness, and I said: Be thick, and it became thus, and I spread it out with the light, and it became water, and I spread it out over the darkness, below the light, and then I made firm the waters, that is to say the bottomless, and I made foundation of light around the water, and created seven circles from inside, and imaged the water like crystal wet and dry, that is to say like glass and the circumcession of the waters and the other elements, and I showed each one of them its road, and the seven stars each one of them in its heaven, that they go thus, and I saw that it was good. After attempting to decipher Enochs passage I know why I am not a Biblical scholar! These words can be taken to mean different things. What I find interesting is the reference to seven. If one reads the passage a similarity to the seven vibrations can be seen as described in this passage on the creation of water and the atmosphere. From my childhood I remember another quote quite possibly a product of Enoch. I am unable to locate the passage in the Bible or his book but the story goes something like this: Enoch upon leaving his body and meeting God asks about the sounds he heard as his Soul traveled to Heaven. God replied they were the sounds of the Earth between Heaven and Earth. Perhaps someone who reads this book can refresh my memory on where this story is from. My words are just a brief description from what I remember. Either way, again could these sounds / vibrations be the Schumann Resonances? Before finally getting to the hard core research Ill discuss a bit on Eastern Philosophy , The Chakras in particular and a possible connection to the seven Schumann Resonances. The Chakras are associated with different parts of the body but they are also assigned a vibrational frequency. The Chakras and their respective musical note: The Base Chakra resonates to the note C The Sacral Chakra resonates to the note D The Solar Plexus Chakra resonates to the note E The Heart Chakra resonates to the note F The Throat Chakra resonates to the note G The Brow or Third Eye Chakra resonates to the note A The Crown Chakra resonates to the note B

It is interesting that the Base Chakra corresponding to the note C is the 33rd octave of the first Schumann Resonance. Middle C on the musical scale has a frequency of 261.63 Hz. If we divide this frequency by 7.83 Hz. the result is 33, the 33rd. octave. I have not taken the time to see where the other resonances fall on the musical scale but would not be surprised if they correspond. Most music Ive been told is primarily based on the note C. Is it possible the musical scale can be traced to the Schumann Resonances? Did ancient Man and Woman have a first hand knowledge of these vibrations? In my opinion yes. Imagine the ancient Egyptians along with other cultures being exposed at Power Spots to Schumann Resonance where it has been amplified. Perhaps the healing arts as well as music can be linked to these natural vibrations. It has also been said that Human consciousness occurs at a frequency of 39 Hz. The sixth Schumann Resonance. (Vibration). Note: Since this book was first published I have received correspondence from Johnathan of Pickerel, WI. Johnathan has been kind enough to correlate the Schumann Resonance frequencies with their respective Chakras. You will find his calculations vary slightly from the frequencies I list for the resonances. This is acceptable as the resonances are very broad frequency wise. Each can occupy a space of up to 1hz. Also keep in mind there is Diurnal variation with the resonances. Both these factors allow for the slight variation in frequency Johnathan has calculated.

The following are Johnathans findings: First, I looked into 7.83Hz, which I found to best match with B# (7.71675Hz). I dont think that it is a mere coincidence that B is also the crown chakra resonant value! Then 14Hz, which I found to best match A (13.75Hz), which again fits into the chakra arrangement as the third eye. I also find it interesting that both of these frequencies are beyond our hearing range, while the others are within our range! Onto 21Hz, I found it best matched to E (20.601Hz), which corresponds with the solar plexus chakra. 26Hz I found to best match with G# (25.956Hz), corresponding with the throat chakra. 33Hz I found to best match with C (32.703Hz), which corresponds with the base chakra. 39Hz I found best matched D# (38.89Hz), corresponding with the sacral chakra. Finally, I looked at the 45Hz resonant, which best matched F#, which corresponds with the heart chakra. Again, I find this to be beyond coincidence! Furthermore, in your book you mention that human consciousness resonates at 39Hz. If you lower 39Hz by two octaves you get 9.75Hz, which is very close to 10Hz, as you state is approximately the heartbeat of Mother Earth! Mere coincidence, I think not! Each of these frequencies best fit somewhere between D# (9.7225Hz) and E (10.3005Hz)! My thanks to Johnathan for providing these calculations. We live on quite a marvelous planet indeed ... For now we will leave speculation as to early Humans working with these natural vibrations. Lets get on with exploring the theory that these vibrations can be amplified by certain Earth-related activity. To be precise Geomagnetism. I would like to add at this point that the Earths magnetic field was 20 times stronger in intensity in ancient times than it is today. A year had passed and needed equipment to observe and measure the resonances was still in the design stage. I had spent many hours hiking the Sedona outback with simple electronic equipment and a compass. At certain locations and for extended periods in time the compass would not detect Magnetic North. I thought I had located the suspected large deposit of Magnetite beneath the Earths surface. To my surprise in time the compass stabilized. Ok No deposit here as the compass would remain unable to find North if this were the case. Now I

really had a dilemma on my hands! Whatever the source of this magnetic disturbance it was intermitte My thoughts traveled back to the alleged Vortex Energy theory. Could the magnetic source be

Geomagnetic in origin? Months of research via the internet revealed a study by a certain US Geologic group on the Earths Geodynamo. A partial excerpt from this report reads Non-Dipole Field That portion of the velocity field associated with the non-dipole magnetic field, which constitutes 10% of the earths total magnetic field, fluctuates significantly over decade time scales apparantly reflecting the unsteady exchange of angular momentum between the core and the mantle. Initially at 1900, there are three major high-velocity zones: one in the northern hemisphere, one in the southern hemisphere, and one in the equatorial region. By 1950, these three high-velocity zones have combined into single convulated structure, circumnavigating the CMB. Regardless of the high-velocity zone topology over the course of the 20th century, it appears that about 80% of the known Hotspots are distributed on or near these zones. These graphics depict a rich behaviour of velocity patterns including shearing, rifting, Vortex motions, Upwelling and Downwelling.

To simplify the above report they are speaking of the Geodynamo within the Earth that produces the Earths magnetic field. The keywords in the report above are in bold print.To explain Non-Dipole magnetics, as we know the Earth has a North and South Pole. What the report is saying is that certain locations on the planet have inward and outward flows of magnetism that are not polarized. In other words, no North and South. Just pure magnetic energy. This would explain the action of my compass. If I were standing in an outflow of magnetic energy or inflow the compass would behave just as it did. When the outflow or inflow ceased things returned to normal and the compass once again pointed North. To prove this theory took another year. Equipment was finished with the help of a friend in Australia. He had designed the necessary electronic equipment for observation of the resonances. Not an easy task. Our designs were similar and a few adjustments on my design proved to be the right combination for use here in the United States. One nemesis researchers face is 60 Hz. power line noise. At low frequencies it interferes with sensitive equipment. Many people have speculated as to power line radiation propagating on a global basis, the same as a radio transmission. The answer is yes. Below you will see a spectra sent to me from a friend in Italy. Italy and Europe use 50Hz. for power generation verses 60Hz. used here in the states. In the spectras we can see not only the very strong signature of 50Hz. in Italy but also 60Hz. after it traveled from the US to Italy. Easy to see why if you consider the miles upon miles of power lines we have strung across North America. You have one massive antenna radiating 60Hz. into the atmosphere.

The signature of 60Hz. power line radiation originating from North America as seen in Italy is the fine thin line just above the brighter one at 50Hz. I have observed the same thing in reverse. Europes power line radiation at 50 Hz. is easily detected by my equipment here in the United States. With the equipment for Schumann Resonance observation complete a plan was necessary. Observations of Schumann would be made at different locations around Arizona to see any special occurrences, particularly in Sedona. Below is a map indicating the different locations field research was conducted.

Schumann Resonance was recorded at all the locations indicated on the map. An interesting thing about observing the resonances is you see them from two different prospectives. First you can observe the resonances as they occur on a global basis. The second is how they appear when influenced by near by lightning producing storms. Nearby can mean a storm in the immediate area or within several hundred miles. Lets begin with a spectra without any storms occurring within hundreds of miles. Most of the spectras contained in this book will only show the first two resonances. This was due to equipment design in order to filter out interfering 60 Hz. power line noise. Today further design improvements allow me to observe all the resonances. The resonances are the horizontal lighter shaded lines in the spectra. The first is located just below 10 Hz. The second between 10 Hz. and 20 Hz. at 14 Hz.

Near By Lightning Activity This next spectra shows the effect near by lightning discharge has on the resonances. Cloud to ground lightning occurred within 3 miles of this research outing. Eventually equipment was shut down and I retreated to my tent as the atmosphere became too electrically hot! Exhilerating but dangerous at an elevation of 7,000 feet.

The brightening you see in the above spectra is lightning discharge. It is evident the first resonance is really getting its bell rung. The two red horizontal lines are marker frequencies. The thin blue line is noise from 60 Hz. power lines five miles away. If you again look at the spectras it should be easy to see what Ive explained as seeing Schumann on a global basis as well as locally. For the next several pages I have provided spectras from varying locations around Arizona so you can see what normal observations are like. By normal I mean a quiet atmosphere with no lightning activity. These spectras will provide a point of reference when I discuss and demonstrate Geomagnetic affect on the first resonance. Vortex Action. The scale on the left of each line plot graph is amplitude or strength of Schumann. The scale at the bottom of each line plot graph, frequency. Please note the amplitude of Schumann at each location. A normal amplitude never quite makes it beyond minus 40. This equates to approximately 1 Picotesla for those of you with a scientific bent. Just the first two resonances are displayed in the following line plot graphs.

The equipment used eventually was modified to observe all the resonances. The seventh resonance which is the weakest, is not displayed in this next spectra. I have provided this one to illustrate what at least six of the vibrations look like. Recorded Near Sedona ( Boynton Canyon Area )

In this book you have seen two different spectra formats. The graph style spectras are called Line Plot graphs and the colored spectras called scrolling graphs. Line plot mode is suited for measuring the amplitude or strength of each resonance as well as frequency. Scroll mode is preferable when one wishes to observe Schumann Resonance along with the lightning discharges that maintain it. If necessary please review the two different formats until you have an understanding of their purpose. Strength of each resonance in scroll mode is indicated by a lighter shade of color. Strength in line plot mode is indicated by the scale on the left side of each line plot graph. Next we will cover observed anomalies with the first resonance while subjected to an intense Geomagnetic Outflow or Inflow of magnetism near Sedona. Back on page 9 I discussed my compass not being able to locate Magnetic North at certain times. This observation led to the completion of equipment called a Fluxgate Sensor. It is used to observe and record changes in the Earths Magnetic Field both on a global basis and locally. A basic normal chart is shown next.

The chart on the previous page shows normal magnetic field intensity. When observing the Earths field major changes especially during a magnetic storm still take several hours to indicate on the chart. In other words a sharp upswing in activity in a short time period is not normal. Repeated field expeditions to the area where I first noticed compass instability soon revealed an unpredictable pattern of magnetic upswings and downswings in field intensity. It looked as though I had located one of the proverbial Vortexes. In the chart below you will see local field magnetic activity dramatically increase. So much so I had to change the settings of my Fluxgate equipment to one third scale. Sudden Magnetic Impulse Begins

You may be wondering what my handheld compass was doing during this event. As observed on previous field trips it once again could not locate Magnetic North. The chart below shows the entire Sudden Magnetic Impulse event after the Fluxgate equipment was set to one-third scale.

On field outings I use two computers, one observing Schumann Resonance and the other observing local field magnetic intensity. You have seen the charts on a recorded Sudden Magnetic Impulse event but now lets have a look at what Schumann Resonance was doing at the start of this event.

As we can see the first resonance at 7.83 Hz. is increasing in intensity, (strength). From the chart we can see it has surpassed its normal level of one Pico-Tesla. As the Magnetic impulse continues Schumann likewise changes. As the magnetic impulse continued amplitude of the first resonance likewise increased. Remember The closer to 0 on the left hand scale the higher the amplitude.

Finally at the peak of strongest magnetic impulse event reading the first resonance likewise reached its highest amplitude. Over 2 Pico-Tesla!

Once the magnetic impulse event ceased Schumann Resonance returned to normal and my compass once again found North.

It is my belief the past three years of research indicates Vortex phenomena to be a reality. This phenomenon is also Geomagnetic in origin. Ideally my equipment should be established at a permanent location somewhere in the surrounding area of Sedona. As Ive discussed earlier, power line radiation is my nemesis. A permanent location would provide continuous observation of both local field Magnetic activity along with Schumann Resonance. Updated charts and spectras would be posted to my web site every 15 seconds allowing any one with internet access the means to observe and verify this fascinating phenomena. Perhaps one day a site will be found to serve this purpose. Until that day arrives field research and outings will be the norm as time permits. The monitoring of Schumann Resonance on a continuous basis also provides another benefit. Several major universities are able to keep an eye on Global Warming by observing any changes in the resonances. There is much to learn regarding these vibrations. I would like to add that man-made electromagnetic pollution is at a high. Since the dawn of radio communication, electricity and its distribution, microwave and other electromagnetic energy producing devices, etc. the amount of pollution has increased 200,000 times.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to connect with the Earths subtle energies. Of course I am not an advocate of stepping backwards as technology if used in a wise manner can be a great and wonderful thing. What I do advocate is the implementation of alternative sources of power and tougher guide line on electromagnetic radiation standards. The technology is already there. We are told by many organizations including the academic world that alternative sources of energy are not cost affective at this time. Personally I have worked with and observed alternative methods in use and completely disagree with these statements.

My research has also brought me in contact with people who suffer from electromagnetic pollution. Harmonics from power line distribution systems along with many other devices can and do interfere wi certain peoples brain wave functions. Research in a laboratory setting with electromagnetic energy affecting Human thought and feelings is being conducted by Dr. Michael Persinger at Lawrence University in Canada to name one. To learn more about the research it may be found on the internet. One final comment The Sedona area is more than likely not the only place you will find Vortex ener but! If you have the opportunity to remove yourself from the mainstream and spend a bit of time locate in Sedonas outback you will not only see its beauty but feel it as well! Sitting on top of a magnetic outflow while the first Schumann Resonance promotes a state of Alpha / Theta is an experience you w never forget! Speaking From Experience Ben Lonetree I have included this photo at the end of this book for speculation purposes only. It was taken three years ago simply as a nice photo of some of the Sedona landscape. Later I noticed the distortion you see between the lines in the second image. At first I suspected a dirty camera lens or faulty film. Additional photos taken with three different cameras including digital and normal optical over a one year period revealed the same distortion. I might add this was not the case each and every time.
