Everyone shall taste the death. Then unto Us you shall be returned. [29:57] Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, we believe, and that they will not be judged? (Al Quran 29:2) It sounds natural and logical that everyone should reap what he has sown. One should receive the fruit of his deeds. If one has sown flowers he should pluck flowers. If one has sown thorns he should pick thorns. Islam has its own concept of life after death (YowmulAkhir). Our life on earth is meaningless without a test after death on the Day of Judgment in the Court of Justice of Almighty Allah. Definition: Al-Akhira refers to The Last day which is Judgment day. This day every person will be called to account for their actions during life before a judgment is passed to whether they enter heaven, hell or limbo. Muslim doctrine is often summarized in "Six Articles of Faith." According to this list, to be a Muslim one must believe in: One God; The angels of God; The books of God, especially the Qur'an; The prophets of God, especially Muhammad; The Day of Judgment (or the afterlife); and The supremacy of God's will (or predestination).

Concept of Day of Judgment or Life after death in Islam As justice is the main concern of Islam it is necessary that people should get justice in this world and the world hereafter. It sounds natural and logical that everyone should reap what he has sown. One should receive the fruit of his deeds. If one has sown flowers he should pluck flowers. If one has sown thorns he should pick thorns. Virtues breed virtues and vices breed vices. The Day of Judgment in the Quran has been also named as the Day of Reckoning, the Day of Resurrection, the Dooms day or the Day of Accountability. The account of the deeds of everyone is being maintained. Islamic concept of two angels maintaining the record of ever word and movement is scientific. The video has solved this mystery. The alpha and beta rays have special role in photographic process. The Gamma rays play their own part. It is a great lesson. If through material rays we can preserve activities there should be no doubt about our record preserved by the special divine agencies. The Quran in SuraThe Friday Prayers announces: The death from which you flee will truly overtake you; then will you be sent back to the knower of the things secret and open; and He will tell you (the truth) of the things you did. (62:8) Everybodys record is being maintained during his life period. It is veryaccurate record. The Day of Judgment is the day of justice. No body will bewronged. His limbs will be his witness. He will see his record and his videofilm will be shown to him. Everyone will be rewarded or punishedaccording to his deeds. The Quran in SuraThe Israelite says; Everymans fate we have fastened on his own neck. On the Day of Judgment we shall bring out for him a scroll, which he will see spread open. Read thine record sufficient is thy soul this day to make out an account against thee. (17:13-14). As the literal meaning of Arabic word used for the Day of Judgment Qayamah is to rise up, hence the question arise as to why they should be raised up after demise.

The Holy Quran in sura Yonus says: Towards Him is the return of you all, The promise of God is sure fact, Surely he originates and make, Then He causes it to return again, In order that He may reward Those who believe and do good with justice; And as to those who choose disbelief, There is for them a boiling water and a painful agony, On account of what they is believed. (Younus: 4)

And again:

And naught is the life of this world, But a play thing and vanity, And certainly the future home Is better for those who practice reverence. Do you not understand it then? (Al-Anam: 32) The appearance of the Last Day has been vouchsafed by God in the following verse. And those who are given knowledge and faith, will say, certainly tarried according to the ordinance of Allah till the Day of Judgement, so this is the day of Resurrection but you did not know. (Ar-Rum: 56) Signs OF The Day OF Judgement: The day of Judgement is known to God alone, and no one else is entitled to receive any hint about this secret. The following signs will precede the Day of Reckoning. i) Disbelief among man. ii) Spread of sensuality among men. iii) Sedition and tumults iv) Great distress in the world v) Rising of sun in the west vi) A monster will emerge from Mount Safa vii) Coming of Dajjal, who will be slain by God through the hand of Jesus viii) A smoke will fill the whole earth ix) Three eclipse of Moon x) Coming of Al-Mehdi. As regards the future existence the Holy Quran speaks in following manner, And that which comes after (al-Akhirat) is certainly much better for thee than which has gone before. (Ad-Dhuha: 4) There are three reasons for Qayamah. (a) It is the demand of natural and divine justice that everyone should get the result of his life examination. As in academies one is given result of his tests, similarly everyone must get the result whether he passes or fails. About the examination of Life in SuraThe Bee the Quran says: Whoever works righteousness, man or woman, and has Faith, verily to him we will give a new life, a life that is good and pure, and we will bestow on such their reward according to the best of their actions. (16:97). (b) Had there been no concept of the Day of Judgment there would have been no human morality. Might is right would have become the law of the day. The concepts of Hell and Heaven are very essential to keep balance in human conduct. The tyrants, the oppressors, the murderers and the aggressors must be punished. If they escape in this world because of their power, pelf and influence they must be punished on Doomsday. Abraham must be rewarded and Nimrod must be chastised. Moses must be rewarded and Pharaoh be punished. Hussain be rewarded and Yazid be punished. It is divine justice and God promises that. In the Quran in SuraAbraham about the virtuous and righteous people God says; But those who believe and work righteousness be admitted to gardens beneath which rivers flow. To dwell therein for aye with the permission of their lord.(14:23). (c) All the prophets have promised this day. They were sooth Sayers. They were divinely appointed. They were not liars. They were the messengers and warners sent from God. We must believe in their words and vows. We have no reason to reject or refute them. They valiantly, patiently and boldly bore the inflictions and excesses. They were tortured. They were persecuted. They were executed. But they never bowed

before tyrants and vicious forces. Their steadfastness and perseverance testifies the truth of their mission when such truthful people believed in the Doomsday, we have no reason to disbelieve in which they believed. Day of Judgment in Hadith: So many ahadeeth came with the statement like; Whoever believe in Allah and the hereafter ..(do such and such). HadeethJibreel includes this concept. Almost half of the Quran is about hereafter. The Prophet passed by a number of people and asked, What are ye? They said, We are Muslims. A woman nearby was making a fire blaze for her kettle and she had with her a child, her son. When the fire rose high, she prevented it from touching the child. The Prophet came (to her). She said Art thou the Prophet of God? he said, Yes. She said, Ill sacrifice my father and mother for thee! Is not God the Most Merciful of those who show mercy? He said, Yes. She said, Verily the mother would never cast her child into the fire. Implying why would God Almighty punish his creation by putting them in the fire of Hell. On hearing this, the Prophet cast down his head, and wept; then he lifted up his head to her, and said, Verily God punishes none of His servants (that is, God is merciful to all) except the arrogant, the refractory, who rise in rebellion against God and refuse to say that there is no God, but God. Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard Allah's Apostle saying, Allah divided Mercy into one-hundred parts and He kept its ninety-nine parts with Him and sent down its one part on the earth, and because of that, its one single part, His creations are Merciful to each other, so that even the mare lifts up its hoofs away from its baby animal, lest it should trample on it." [Saheeh al-Bukhari] Arguments of Quran: Now let us briefly discuss the Quranic logic about the Day of Judgment. The Quran refutes the plea of the unbelievers who say that how it can happen. After death when we will be turned into dust, then how can we resurrect? The Quran in SuraYasin announces; Does not man realize that we created him from a seed of fluid? Yet he does not believe and forgets even his own creation. He says as to who could revive the decayed bones back to life from nonentity. (36:79). And in Surrah Room it is revealed: And He it is Who originates the creation, then will repeat it (after it has been perished), and this is easier for Him. His is the highest description (i.e. none has the right to be worshipped but He, and there is nothing comparable unto Him) in the heavens and in the earth. And He is the AllMighty, the AllWise. Here it is argued that it is difficult to create a thing, but it is easier to repair or re integrate a thing which has been disintegrated. Similarly, I fit is easy for Allah to create mankind out of particles, how can it be difficult for Allah to resurrect man after death? After giving the argument of first birth the Quran gives the second argument. It says: one of the clear divine signs is that you see the earth dead and motionless, but as soon as Allah pours rain on it, it comes to life and becomes fertile and green. Allah who revives the dead earth to life will also revive the dead man to life. Allah is able to do all things: (41:39). Then in SuraSaad the Quran gives third argument on the basis of Justice. It is related to the Islamic concept of Good and Bad. The Quran says: We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in vain, though this is the belief of the infidels. Woe to the disbelievers; they will suffer the torment of the Hellfire. Do we consider the righteously striving believers equal to the evil doers in the earth? Are the pious ones equal to those who openly commit sins? (38:27-28). Arguments of Hadith: A part of sermon delivered by the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is cited by the way of argument: You will have to die, like you sleep and you will have to get up as you awake. A man however so much he fights against it falls asleep, so the power which forces him to sleep can force him to die..it follows that we may not like to disturb our sleep but we have to wake up, similarly the same power can resurrect us.

Effect of Belief in the Last Day Demonstrates the completeness, greatness, and uniqueness of Allahs Names and Attributes. Increases the love for meeting Allah in the hearts of the believers. Establishes fear from Allah.

Allah SWT will be so angry (Ghadabah) that

The Day when they will (all) come out, nothing of them will be hidden from Allah. Whose is the kingdom this Day? (Allah Himself will reply to His Question): It is Allah's the One, the Irresistible! [40:16] Aids a Muslim in hastening towards good deeds.

O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did).[84:6]

Importance of Day of Judgment: Accountability One of the most important aspects of Islam is the belief in a Day of Judgment. It is one of the six articles of faith and is central to the Islamic concept of accountability. For Muslims, the present life is not the goal; rather, it is the life after death that is the focus. This does not mean that Muslims should not enjoy their lives, but it does mean that they have to be conscious of God in all aspects of their life knowing that they will be asked about their decisions. Every soul will taste of death. And ye will be paid on the Day of Resurrection only that which ye have fairly earned. Whoso is removed from the Fire and is made to enter paradise, he indeed is triumphant. The life of this world is but comfort of illusion. Chapter 3 verse 185
