WE SHARE GODS LIFE NOW Over the past few weeks, second readings at Sunday Mass have been taken from Pauls letter to the Ephesians. Paul has been providing an ongoing instruction on what it means to live and share Gods life now. Paul was writing to people who lived in the midst of pagan activity. That is why Pauls words are still applicable to us. This is not to say that our world is monstrously evil, that nastiness surrounds us, or that everyone is out to get us. Thats not true. What is true, however, is that times are tough. Our society pressures us to look out for ourselves, to take the best advantage we can, often without giving much thought to the other person. Paul also urges us to take the best advantage we can, but with constant regard for the other person. And the best advantage we can take is to remember that Christ is with usis in usnow.
OUR SECOND COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND WILL BE FOR THE SOUND SYSTEM. AS ALWAYS, YOUR SUPPORT WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Happy Wedding Anniversary

Dear parishioners, My name is Sister Marian Coughlin. I have been a professed Sister of Notre Dame for 64 years. I am currently the last member of my family still here on earth as the other 11 have taken their flights into eternity. Among my siblings, seven boys and four girls, was our priest brother, Rev. Howard Coughlin, who went heavenward 4 years th year of priesthood. I had been privileged to enjoy 48 years as a teacher or princiago during his 55 pal in catholic Schools. During my years of retirement, I was delighted to serve our community needs for ten years as a driver for our sick and elderly Sisters. After healing from a serious accident 5 years ago, I am busy every day with time for extra prayer, writing letters on email or snail mail, visiting the sick in a nearby nursing home, preparing second graders in a nearby parish for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist, and responding to various needs of our sick and elderly Sisters. I always enjoy visiting parishes to present appeals for our Global Missions as well as begging for help in the annual appeals for support of the Retired Religious in our country. It is my joy to be with you this week In joyful prayer, Sister Marian Coughlin, SND

KNOW THE MASS, ONE WORD AT A TIME

Get on with it. We hear that all the time. We even say it to ourselves. We do something and then move on quickly. Thats our pace and pretty much the tenor of most of our lives. And how we live does not easily match what we do at Mass. At Mass we stop and linger at the beginning to reflect on our need for mercy, after the readings and homily to consider the Word we have just heard, and after Holy Communion to grasp more surely the mystery now within us. We linger in these moments to deepen our sense of the holy and living one whom we are meeting. We keep returning to the same ritual at Mass. It really doesnt change that much week after week. Even the years of worship repeat the same cycles of Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, and Ordinary Time. Is it just going in circles? No, something else is at work. The cycles deepen the mysterys hold on us and our hold on the mystery. Unlike most of our life, at Mass we go not wide but deep. We stay, we linger, we come to know more.

AMANIE CHLEBA. Podczas odpra-wiania Mszy w. niektre drobne i nie-znaczne gesty mog atwo uj naszej uwadze. Gdy obaj uczniowie zdajcy do Emaus powrcili do Jeruzalem, powiedzieli apostoom, i rozpoznali Pana Jezusa wanie podczas amania przez Niego chleba. Take i dzisiaj ten may gest pozwala na rozpoznanie Jego obecnoci pord nas.
