Getting Started CAUTION concerning the Power Cord Most appliances recommend they be placed upon a dedicated circuit; That is, a single outlet circuit which powers only that appliance and has no additional outlets or branch circuits. Pay particular attention to plugs, wall outlets, and the point where the cord exits the appliance. To disconnect power from the mains, pull out the mains cord plug. When installing the product, ensure that the plug is easily accessible. This device is equipped with a portable battery or accumulator. This unit plays DVDR/RW and CD-R/RW that contains audio titles, DivX, MP3, WMA and/or JPEG files. Some DVDRW/DVDR or CD-RW/ CD-R cannot be played on this unit due to the recording quality or physical condition of the disc, or the characteristics of the recording device and authoring software. DVD-VIDEO (8 cm / 12 cm disc) Discs such as movies that can be purchased or rented. DVDR (8 cm / 12 cm disc) Video mode and finalized only. DVD-RW (8 cm / 12 cm disc) Video mode and finalized only. Regional Codes
This unit has a regional code printed on the rear of the unit. This unit can play only DVD discs labeled same as the rear of the unit or ALL. M y ost DVD discs have a globe with one or more numbers in it clearly visible on the cover. This number must match your units regional code; or the disc cannot play. I y f you try to play a DVD with a different regional code from your unit, the message Check Regional Code appears on the TV screen.

POWER : Switches the unit ON or OFF. OPEN/CLOSE : Opens and closes the disc Drawer.
VOL (Volume) (+/-) : Adjusts speaker volume. LG EQ (9) : Selects a Natural or Local Specialization equalizer effect by using LG EQ. EQ$ (EQUALIZER effect) : Chooses sound impressions. CLEAR : Removes a track number on the Program List. SUBTITLE : During playback, press SUBTITLE repeatedly to select a desired subtitle language . 0 to 9 numerical buttons : Selects numbered options in a menu. e TV Control buttons : Controls the TV. Speaker Positioning
ront left speaker (L)/ Front right speaker (R): F Place the front speakers to the sides of the monitor or screen and as flush with the screen surface as possible. enter speaker: Place the center speaker above C or below the monitor or screen. urround left speaker (L)/ Surround right S speaker (R): Place these speakers behind your listening position, facing slightly inwards. ubwoofer: The position of the subwoofer is S not so critical, because low bass sounds are not highly directional. But it is better to place the subwoofer near the front speakers. Turn it slightly toward the center of the room to reduce the wall reflections. Unit

y Be careful to make sure children not to put their hands or any objects into the *speaker duct. *Speaker duct: A hole for plentiful bass sound on speaker cabinet (enclosure). y The speakers contain magnet parts, so color irregularity may occur on the TV screen or PC monitor screen. Connections to Your TV
Make one of the following connections, depending on the capabilities of your existing equipment. y Depending on your TV and other equipment you wish to connect, there are various ways you could connect the player. Use only one of the connections described in this manual. y Please refer to the manuals of your TV, Stereo System or other devices as necessary to make the best connections.

y Make sure the unit is connected directly to the TV. Tune the TV to the correct video input channel. y Do not connect your player via your VCR. The image could be distorted by the copy protection system. Set the TVs source to HDMI (refer to TVs Owners manual).

Resolution Setting
You can change the resolution for component video and HDMI output. Press RESOLUTION repeatedly to select the desired resolution - 480i (or 576i), 480p (or 576p), 720p, 1080i, 1080p. The resolution may not be selected depending on the connection or TV. Depending on your TV, some of the resolution settings may result in the picture disappearing or an abnormal picture appearing. In this case, press RESOLUTION repeatedly until the picture reappears. You can set 1080p video resolution to enjoy Full HD picture quality. (Full HD up-scaling) y Changing the resolution when the connection has already been established may result in malfunctions. To solve the problem, turn off the player and then turn it on again. y When the HDMI connection with HDCP is not verified, TV screen is changed to black screen. In this case, check the HDMI connection, or disconnect the HDMI cable. y If there is noise or lines on the screen, please check the HDMI cable (High Speed HDMI Cable). y When you use HDMI connection, you can change the resolution for the HDMI output. Press RESOLUTION repeatedly to select the desired resolution - 480i (or 576i), 480p (or 576p), 720p, 1080i, 1080p.

Connect the MONITOR jack on the unit to the video in jack on the TV using a video cable. You can hear the sound through the systems speakers.

PORT.(Portable) IN Connection
Connect an OUTPUT of portable device (MP3 or PMP etc) to the PORT. IN connector.
Antenna Connection
Connect the supplied FM antenna for listening to the radio. Connect the FM Wire antenna to the FM antenna connector.

USB Connection
Connect the USB port of USB Memory (or MP3 player, etc.) to the USB port on the front of the unit. Be sure to fully extend the FM wire antenna. After connecting the FM wire antenna, keep it as horizontal as possible.

Menu Language
Select a language for the Setup menu and then on screen display.
DISPLAY
TV Aspect
Select which screen aspect to use based on the shape of your TV screen. [4:3] Select when a standard 4:3 TV is connected. [16:9] Select when a 16:9 wide TV is connected.
Display Mode
The Display Mode setting works only when the TV Aspect mode is set to 4:3. [Letterbox] Displays a wide picture with bands on the upper and lower portions of the screen. [Panscan] Automatically displays the wide picture on the entire screen and cuts off the portions that do not fit. (If the disc/file is not compatible with Pan Scan, the picture is displayed at Letterbox ratio.)

TV Output Select
Select an option according to the TV connection type. [RGB] When your TV is connected with the SCART jack. [YPBPR] When your TV is connected with the COMPONENT/ PROGRESSIVE SCAN jacks on the unit.
If you change TV Output Select to RGB from YPbPr on the setup menu especially when connecting the unit in the way of component video connection, the screen turns black. In that case, connect the video cable to MONITOR jack and select YPbPr on the setup menu again.

AUDIO
5.1 Speaker Setup
Make the following settings for the built-in 5.1 channel surrounds decoder. 1. Press SETUP. 2. Use WS to select AUDIO menu and then press D. 3. Use WS to select [5.1 Speaker setup] menu and then press D. 4. Press ENTER The [5.1 Speaker setup] appears.
[Speaker] Select a speaker that you want to adjust. Certain speaker settings are prohibited by the Dolby Digital licensing agreement.
, Note
[Size] Since the speaker settings are fixed, you cannot change the settings. [Volume] Press AD to adjust the output level of the selected speaker. [Distance] After you connected speakers to your unit, set the Distance between the speakers and your listening point if the distance of Center or Rear speakers is bigger than the distance of Front speakers. This allows the sound from each speaker to reach the listener at the same time. Press AD to adjust the Distance of the selected speaker. This distance is equivalent to a difference of the distance between Center or Rear speaker and Front speakers. [Test] Press AD to test the signals of each speaker. Adjust the volume to match the volume of test signals memorized in the system.

Vocal
Select [On] to mix karaoke channels into normal stereo. This function is effective for multi-channel karaoke DVDs only.
HD AV Sync
Sometimes Digital TV encounters a delay between picture and sound. If this happens you can compensate by setting a delay on the sound so that it effectively waits for the picture to arrive: this is called HD AV Sync. Use WS (on the remote control) to scroll up and down through the delay amount, which you can set at anything between 0 and 300m sec.

Rating
Blocks playback of rated DVDs based on their contents. Not all discs are rated. 1. Select [Rating] on the [Lock] menu then press D. 2. Input a password and press ENTER. 3. Select a rating from 1 to 8 using the WS buttons. [Rating 1-8] Rating one (1) has the most restrictions and rating eight (8) is the least restrictive. [Unlock] If you select unlock, parental control is not active and the disc plays in full. 4. Press ENTER to confirm your rating selection.

You can enter or change password. 1. Select [Password] on the [Lock] menu and then press D. 2. Input a password and press ENTER. To change the password, press ENTER when the [Change] option is highlighted. Input a password and press ENTER. Enter it again and press ENTER to verify.

ABOUT DIVX VIDEO: DivX is a digital video format created by DivX, Inc. This is an official DivX Certified device that plays DivX video. Visit www. divx.com for more information and software tools to convert your files into DivX video. ABOUT DIVX VIDEO-ON-DEMAND: This DivX Certified device must be registered in order to play purchased DivX Video-on-Demand (VOD) movies. To obtain your registration code, locate the DivX VOD section in your device setup menu. Go to vod. divx.com for more information on how to complete your registration. [Register]
3. Press SETUP to exit the menu. If you forget your password, you can clear it using the following steps: 1. Press SETUP to display the Setup menu. 2. Input the 6-digit number 210499 and press ENTER. The password is cleared.

Enter the code of the area whose standards were used to rate the DVD video disc, based on the list on page 33. 1. Select [Area Code] on the [Lock] menu then press D. 2. Input a password and press ENTER. 3. Select the first character using WS buttons. 4. Press ENTER and select the second character using WS buttons. 5. Press ENTER to confirm your Area code selection.
All the downloaded videos from DivX VOD can only be played back on this unit.

Basic Operations
1. Insert the disc by pressing OPEN/CLOSE or connect the USB device to the USB port. 2. Select the DVD/ CD or USB function by pressing FUNCTION. 3. Select a file (or track/ title) you want to play by pressing WSAD. When playing a disc or USB Flash Drive containing with DivX, MP3/ WMA and JPEG files together, you can select menu of files which you would like to play by pressing MENU. If This file has non-supported type on the unit pops up, select an appropriate file by pressing MENU.

Listening to music from your portable player or external device
The unit can be used to play the music from many types of portable player or external devices. 1. Connect the portable player to the PORT. IN(PORTABLE IN) connector of the unit. Or Connect the external device to the AUX connector of the unit. Or Connect the external device to the SCART connector of the unit.
y You can check the recording percentage rate for the USB record on the screen during the recording. y During recording MP3/ WMA, there is no sound. y When you stop recording during playback, the file that has been recorded at that time will be stored. y Do not remove the USB device or turn off the unit during USB recording. If not, an incomplete file may be made and not deleted on PC. y If USB recording does not work, the message like NO USB, ERROR, USB FULL or NO REC is displayed on the display window. y Multi card reader device or External HDD can not be used for USB recording. y A file is recorded by 128Mbyte when you record for a long term. y When you stop recording during playback, the file will not be stored. y You may not store more than 999 files. y The numbering of the recording file is entered from the lowest number. PROBLEM No power CORRECTION Plug the power cord into the wall outlet securely. Select the appropriate video input mode on the TV so the picture from the unit appears on the TV screen. Connect the video cables securely to both the TV and unit. Select the correct input mode of the unit so you can hear the sound from the unit. There is little or no sound Connect the audio cables into the connection terminals correctly. Replace with a new audio cable. The DVD picture quality is poor Clean the disc using a soft cloth with outward strokes. Insert a disc. Insert a playable disc (check the disc type, colour system and regional code). Place the disc with the label or printed side facing upwards. Enter your password or change the rating level. Clean the disc using a soft cloth with outward strokes. Humming noise heard while a DVD or CD is playing Move unit and audio components further away from your TV. Check the antenna connection and adjust its position. Radio stations cant be tuned in properly Attach an external aerial if necessary. Tune to the station manually. Preset some radio stations, see page 28 for details. The remote is not pointed directly at the unit. Point the remote directly at the unit. The remote is too far from the unit. Use the remote within 23 feet (7m) of the unit. Handling the Unit
When shipping the unit
Please save the original shipping carton and packing materials. If you need to ship the unit, for maximum protection, re-pack the unit as it was originally packed at the factory. Keeping the exterior surfaces clean y Do not use volatile liquids such as insecticide spray near the unit. y Wiping with strong pressure may damage the surface. y Do not leave rubber or plastic products in contact with the unit for a long period of time.
Notes on Discs
Handling Discs
Do not touch the playback side of the disc. Hold the disc by the edges so that fingerprints do not get on the surface. Never stick paper or tape on the disc.
Storing Discs
After playing, store the disc in its case. Do not expose the disc to direct sunlight or sources of heat and never leave it in a parked car exposed to direct sunlight.
Cleaning Discs
Fingerprints and dust on the disc can cause poor picture quality and sound distortion. Before playing, clean the disc with a clean cloth. Wipe the disc from the center to out. Do not use strong solvents such as alcohol, benzine, thinner, commercially available cleaners, or anti-static spray intended for older vinyl records.
