What Are Ear Disorders?

Otitis Media The basic underlying problem causing most forms of otitis is eustacian tube dysfunction. Most otitis occurs in patients whose eustacian tube, the tube between the nose and the middle ear (the area behind the eardrum), does not work properly. When air cannot adequately get through this tube to the middle ear,the negative pressure created can suck fluid out of the lining of the middle ear/mastoid, filling the middle ear and mastoid air cells with fluid. A mild hearing loss usually accompanies the fluid. The hearing loss disappears when the fluid is gone as long as there are no other causes for the hearing loss. Cholesteatoma Cholesteatoma is skin cells that grow in the wrong places in the middle ear and mastoid. Less commonly, it can invade the inner ear, brain, or any other structure of the ear area/brain. As the skin mass expands, it can destroy anything in its path. Infection often accompanies a cholesteatoma. The ossicles (ear bones) are often destroyed by even the smallest cholesteatoma. These masses are not cancerous but must be removed to prevent the ear from being severely damaged. Otosclerosis Otosclerosis is a kind of ear disease in which the otic capsule, the hard and different bone that is present only around the inner ear, is replaced in patches by soft bone at random locations around the inner ear. When this soft bone starts growing at the edge of the stapes footplate, the stapes bone cannot move like it should and sound is not passed properly from the middle ear to the inner ear, creating a conductive hearing loss. This is often repairable. When otosclerotic bone replaces bone in other parts of the otic capsule, a sensorineural hearing loss can result. The nerve hearing loss cannot be repaired surgically. Menires Disease Menires disease is caused by an imbalance in the fluid in the sacs in the inner ear. When the sacs of the endolymphatic system of the inner balloon within the inner ear, a sudden hearing loss, vertigo, ringing (tinnitus), and/or pressure in the ear occur. This disease is episodic (by definition) and erratic in its progression. If left to its natural course, it may progress to total deafness in the affected ear. At that point, the episodes of vertigo and the tinnitus may spontaneously subside. Acoustic Neuroma An acoustic neuroma is a benign tumor of the balance nerve between the inner ear and the brain. It grows veryslowly. It can cause vertigo (dizziness), hearing loss, and loss of function of the facial nerve. It causes its damage by local enlargement with destruction of the structures it presses against. It is especially noted for creating a loss in understanding ability (discrimination) of the ear that is significantly worse than the actual hearing loss. When hearing loss is not equal between the two ears (unless there is a known reason for this), an acoustic neuroma should be suspected. An MRI scan enhanced with gadolinium is the test most often used to diagnose an acoustic neuroma. If diagnosed when tiny, it may be observed or removed surgically depending on its size at the time of diagnosis and the age of thepatient. Larger tumors should generally be removed surgically. This is generally done by a neurotologist with or without the assistance of a neurosurgeon Symptoms And Causes For Ear Disorders
Ear symptoms vary depending on the underlying disease, disorder or condition. Typical ear symptoms include:

1. Burning sensation in the ear 1

2. Drainage of pus and blood from the ear canal followed by pain relief, which indicates that the eardrum has ruptured 3. Ear pain or discomfort 4. Feeling of fullness in the ear 5. Hearing loss 6. Hearing unusual sounds such as ringing 7. Itching in the ear 8. Low-set ears (caused by genetic disorders, such as Down syndrome and Turners syndrome) 9. Spot, sore or growth on the skin of the outer ear or ear canal 10. Tugging or rubbing at the ear in infants and young children Causes of Ear Disorders A small tube connects your ear to your throat. These two tubes are called Eustachian tubes (say yoo-STAY-shee-un). A cold can cause this tube to swell. When the tube swells enough to become blocked, it can trap fluid inside your ear. This makes it a perfect place for germs to grow and cause an infection. Ear infections happen mostly to young children, because their tubes are smaller and get blocked more easily. Ayurveda And Ear Disorders Ayurveda medicinal plants that benefit nervous system. Ayurveda medicinal plants are useful in the restoration of consciousness, lack or sleep or acting as hypnotic plants, sleepiness or drowsiness, painful conditions acting as analgesic or anodyne, fits acting as anti-convulsant. These are good for our senses beneficial for vision, and as mydriatics, myotics and as relieving many of ear disorders. Ayurveda system of healthcare aims to restore the balance of the body to that of nature to heal any disorder. The body has three life energies called doshas namely tridoshas. Disturbance of these doshas lead to diseases and by correcting the imbalance body is brought back to its healthy condition. Herbal medicines, therapies and yoga are prescribed in Ayurveda for curing various disorders. The aim is to heal both the body and the mind to restore the body back to health. The medication does not cause any side effect. Ayurveda has given the name Pitikarna to all ear ailments. The disorders occur due to the vitiation of kapha dosha. The cold season and common colds during the winter and are associated with ear infection. When the infection is detected in children, it should be treated without delay, as it can damage to their hearing permanently.

What Is Diabetes?
Dibaetes is a metabolic disorder where in human body does not produce or properly uses insulin, a hormone that is required to convert sugar, statches, and other food into energy. Diabetes mellitus is characterzed by constant high levels of blld glucose (sugar). Human body has to maintain the blood glucose level at a very narrow range, which is done with insulin and glucagon. The function of glucagon is causing the liver to release glucose from its cells into the blood for the production of energy. Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes impede a persons carefree life. When breakdown of glucose is stopped completely, body uses fat and protein for producing the energy. Due to this mechanism symptoms like polydipsia, polyuria, polyphegia, and excessive weightloss can be observed in a diabetic. 2

It is investigated that cows urine beta cells has anti-diabetic agent which strongly helps to repair metabolic disorder. Though, Diabetes mellitus is not completely curable even with modern science, but according to Panch Gavyan Type 1 and Type 2 is completely curable with cow urine therapy. Symptoms Of Diabetes & How It Affects Human Body. In both types of diabetes, signs and symptoms are more likely to be similar as the blood sugar is high, either due to less or no production of insulin or resulinsistance. Increased fatigue : Due to inefficiency of the cell to metabolize glucose, reserve fat of body is metabolized to gain energy. When fat is broken down in the body, it uses more energy as compared to glucose, hence body goes in negative calorie effect, which results in fatigue. Extra urine production and dehydration (Polyuria) : Increase in urine production is due to excess glucose present in body. Body gets rid of the extra sugar in the blood by excretine it through urine. This leads to dehydration because along with the sugar a large amount of water is excreted out of the body. Motivate hunger (Polyphegia) : The hormone insulin is also responsible ofr stimulating hunger. In order to cope up with high sugar levels in blood, body produces insulin which leads to increased hunger. Weight flactuation : Factors like loss of water (polyuria), glucosuria, metabolism of body fat and protein may lead to weight loss. Few cases may show weight gain due to increased appetite. Eye focus problem (Blurry vision) : Hyperosmolar hyperglycemia nonketotic syndrome is the condition when body fluid is pulled out of tissues including lenses of the eye, which affects its ability to focus, resulting blurry vision. Irritability : It is a sign of high blood sugar because of the inefficient glucose supply to the brain and other body organs, which make us, feel tired and uneasy. Infections : The body gives few signals whenever there is fluctuation in blood sugar (due to suppression of immune system) by frequent skin infections like fungal or bacterial or UTI (urinary tract infection). Poor wound healing : High blood sugar resists the flourishing of WBC, (white blood cell) which are responsible for body immune system. When these cells do not function accordingly. wound healing is not at good pace. Secondly, long statnding diabetes leads to thichening of blood vessels which affect proper circulation of blood in different body parts. Causes Of Diabetes Diabetes mellitus occours when the pancreas doesnt make enough or any of the hormone insulin, or when the insulin produced doesnt work effectively. In diabetes, this causes the level of glucose in the blood to be too high. In Type 1 diabetes the cells in the pancreas that make insulin are destroyed, causing a severe lack of insulin. This is thought to be the result of the body attaking and destroying its own cells in the pancreas known as an autoimmune reaction. 3

Its not clear why this happens, but a number of explanations and possible triggers of this reaction have been proposed. These include: 1. Infection with a specific virus or bacteria; 2. Exposure to food-borne chemical toxins; and 3. Exposure as very young infant to cows milk, where an yet unidentified component of this triggers the autoimmune reaction in the body. However, these are only hypotheses and are by no means proven causes. Type 2 diabetes is believed to develop when : 1. The receptors on cells in the body that normally respond to the action of insulin fail to be stimulated by it-this is known as insulin resistance. In response to this more insulin may be produced, and this over-production exhausts the insulinmanufacturing cells in th pancreas; 2. There is simply insufficient insulin available; and 3. The insulin that is available may be abnormal and therefore doesnt work properly. The following risk factors increase the chances of someone developing Type 2 diabetes: 1. Increasing age; 2. Obesity; and 3. Physical inactivity. Rarer causes of diabetes include: 1. Certain medicines; 2. Preganancy (gestational diabetes); and 3. Any illness or disease that damages the pancreas and affects its ability to produce insulin e.g. pancreatitis. Diet And Healthy Food For Diabetes Diet plays a significant role in controlling the diabetes. Main objective of diabetic diet is to maintain ideal body weight, by providing adequate nutrition along with normal blood sugar levels in blood. If we want to control blood sugar we have to limit the consumption of simple carbohydrate. This helps you to decide on the type of food to be taken. But there is no common diet that works for everyone. Nor is there any particular diet that works perfectly for any diabetic over a long period. While planning diabetes diet you should adhere to certain important factors, they are as follows: 1. Fiber should be at least 1.4 oz / day. 2. Instead of 3 heavy meals, we should go for 4-5 small mid intervals. 3. Replace bakery products and fast foods by simple whole cooked cereals, and dont eat carbohydrates 2 hours before bedtime. 4. Consume fresh fruit and vegetables at least 5 exchange/ day. Diabetics always need to take care of their diet and also about the food they eat. Care has to be taken because all foods contain not only carbohydrate, but also some energy value. Protein and fat available in the food are converted to glucose in the body. This glucose has some effect on the blood sugar level, which has to be taken care of. Furthermore, you neednt have to eat only the bland boring diet. Instead, you can eat more fruits, vegetables and whole grains. All it means is that you need to select foods that are high in nutrition and low in calories. 4

Foods that control diabetes APPLE : Apple is the delicious fruit and most of the people enjoy eating apples. It has been found beneficial in the treatment of diabetes because of its rich pectin content. It is a natural ingredient found in the inner portion of apple. It helps in detoxification of the body by providing galacturonic acid which is needed for the elimination of various harmful substances from the body. This food also decreases the bodys insulin requirements. It has been strongly said that An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Apple is one of the wonderful gift of God to man for a healthy diet. Apples are also rich source of potassium. It is also a fighter against dangerous bacteria and viruses. PROTEINS: Diabetics should eat proteins in moderation and prefer fish or soy protein, poultry on meat. High fat meat should be strictly avoided. CURD: A cup or two of curd a day boosts immune functioning by stimulating production of gamma interferon. It also increases the activity of natural killer cells that attacks viruses and tomours. A daily cup of curd reduces colds and other upper respiratory infection in human. ONION: It is known to cure virtually everything. It is an exceptionally strong antioxidant. It words off diabetes, hay fever, blood clot, fights asthma, chronic bronchitis etc. Onion extract is found to reduce blood sugar levels during oral and inter venous glucose tolerance. OATS: Oats help stabilize blood sugar, have estrogenic and antioxidant activity. High doses can cause gas, abdominal bloating and pain and some. BEANS (LEGUMES, SOYABEANS): It is excellent food for diabetics. They are very highly in fibres. It is also a potent medicine in lowering cholesterol. One half cup of cooked beans daily reduces cholesterol an average 10 percent. They regulates the blood sugar levels in human body very well. GARLIC: Garlic have significant blood sugar lowering action. The active ingredients in it are believed to be allyl propyl disulphide (APDS) and diallyldisul-phide oxide (allicin). There may be some other constituents such as flavonoids, which also plays an important role. These ingredients lowers the blood glucose levels by completing with insulin for insulininactivating sites in the liver. This results in an increase of free insulin. The additional benefit of the use of the garlic is its beneficial cardiovascular effects. They are found to lower lipid levels, inhibit platelet aggregation and are hypertensive. So, the liberal use of garlic is recommended for diabetic patients. SOYABEANS: Soyabeans in any form like whole beans or sprouts, soya flour, Soya milk, have been proved to control the blood sugar levels in diabetics. It is also best in preventing neurological complications like, numbness of feet and shivering of hands that is very common among many diabetics.Soyabean bread is known to form a very good food for diabetes. It contains very little amount of starch but contains high amount of fat and proteins, both are of excellent quality. Hence, along with its richness in proteins, it also exerts a valuable effect in lowering urinary excretion of sugar in people suffering from diabetes. GROUNDNUT: They shows a great influence in controlling the blood sugar level in diabetics. It has been advised that diabetic patients should eat handful of groundnuts per day. Along, with its use in diabetics, it is also used to prevent malnutrition. It reduces the deficiency of Vitamin B or niacin. It also prevents the development of any vascular complications. 5

GRAPEFRUIT: It is an excellent fruit for diabetics. It not only controls the blood sugar level diabetics but also prevents diabetes in person who are at greater risk/or have tendency to develop diabetes. Grapefruit is included in Citrus fruits category because it has very good flavourer it has very good flavour, produces appetite in patients and refreshers the patient. Hence, this anti-diabetics like-lettuce, Tomato, Almond, Banana (uripe banana which is cooked as a vegetable is beneficial for diabetics), legumes, Tea (tea made from the parsley or leaves of walnut are good for controlling diabetes), buttermilk (The lactic acid present in the butter milk, activities the pancreas and thus more insulin is secreted which controls the blood sugar levels the blood sugar levels), Brewers Yeast (This contains high source of mineral chromium and this mineral causes increased secretion of insulin from pancreases. Ayurveda And Diabetes According to ayurveda, diabetes is a metabolic kapha type of disorder in which diminished functioning of agni leads to a tendency toward high blood sugar. According to the unique assessments of ayurvedic concepts diabetes is the disease which occurs when toxins get accumulated in the tissue and result in circulation blockage. The various root causes of diabetes that ayurveda enlists are poor nutrition and poor digestion, inequity of nervous system, physical and mental stress, and disturbance in natural biological cycle. It can be said in a way that the Ayurvedic remedies for diabetes mellitus are the oldest among all the available therapies. The approach of Ayurveda towards diabetes mellitus is that, diabetes mellitus is a disease caused due to doshic imbalances. The doshas are the three humors that govern the human body. These are the vata dosha, pitta dosha and kapha dosha. These three humors must be present in a proper balance within the body in order to keep the body in the normal state of its functioning. If even one of the doshas is vitiated, then it can lead to diseases, and diabetes mellitus is one of them. Ayurveda includes diabetes mellitus in the prameha category. Pramehas are a list of urinary disorders, especially characterized by profuse urination with several abnormal qualities. There are twenty kinds of pramehas in Ayurveda. According to the doshic causes, these pramehas are classified as follows:1. Vataja pramehas There are totally four vataja pramehas. 2. Pittaja pramehas There are totally six pittaja pramehas. 3. Kaphaja pramehas There are totally ten kaphaja pramehas. Out of these, diabetes mellitus is termed as madhumeha. It is one of the four vataja pramehas. Most of the other treatment methods for diabetes mellitus regard it as a largely dietary disease. But Ayurveda here differs widely in its outlook. Ayurveda does not regard diabetes mellitus as a disease that can be treated by mere medicine or by a dietary regimen. The Ayurvedic treatment for diabetes mellitus is based on an entire change in the lifestyle of the person. Along with medication and diet, the patient is also advised to lead a healthy lifestyle and live an active life. Even mental aspects of the disease are stressed. Most vataja disorders originate in the brain, and since madhumeha is classified as vataja, it is highly important to keep the brain in its right manner of functioning. Another basic difference is in the treatment of the complications that diabetes mellitus causes. Diabetes mellitus can cause several complications in the long run such as kidney failure, paralysis and gangrene. Each of these can be fatal conditions individually. Conventional medical science tries to reduce the blood sugar level, but does not put more 6

weight on the treatment of the complications. However, in Ayurveda, madhumeha is a broad concept which does not include just the hyperglycemia; it also takes into account all the possible complications. The body is taken as a whole and the treatment is done accordingly. Ayurveda is very closely knit with yoga for the treatment and control of diabetes mellitus. For example, the paschimottasana, is highly recommended for patients of madhumeha. In this manner, Ayurveda is not restricted in its treatment of diabetes, but takes a much broader perspective. Cow Urine Therapy And Diabetes In a significant breakthrough in treatment of diabetics, the scientists in Bangalore have found that cow urine reduces the blood sugar level. A study conducted by Professor K Jayakumar of the Government College. Bangalore has shown that cows urine has anti-diabetic properties. According to research it was found that the cows urine lowers the blood glucose level and stimulates beta cells, as in the case anti-diabetic. The activity was tested in experimentally induced diabetic rats. The rats were orally given a small dose of cows urine daily. It was noticed that rates treatedith the cows urine had lower Blood-sugar level as compared to non-treated diabetic rats,. Cow urine can cure diabetes Hindustan Times ( Bangalore, June 07, 2008) http://www.hindustantimes.com/Cow-urine-can-cure-diabetes/Articlel-315828.aspx Cow urine : a diabetes cure! Reuters.com Jun.9 Indian scientists say cow urine can reduce blood sugar levels. http://www.in.cow/videos/watchvideo-cow-urine-a-diabetes-cure-994311.html According to ancient knowledge, half the types of diabetes (Madhuprameha) can be cured. Unfortunately, a large proportion of patients found now-a-days belong to incurable (asadhya, type I) or controllable kashtsadhy ) thpe of diabetes. And since they get attracted to diabetes industry referred to the article quoted in the reference message, word cure has entirely disappeared from diabetes world. The cow urine is used in the preparation of Ayurvedic medicines for centuries. This sceintific study promises to give a ray of hope for millions of diabetic patients in the country, the report said. NNN-BSS Cow urine is a powerful medicine as suported by ancient texts. It restores the intelligence of body cells to use the glucose in presence of insulin. The author gives some ways to try for a cure below, for those who can get cow urine of Indian cow in the neighbourhood. If few such lucky ones read this mail, how to obtain this urine will be told to them if there is a request. Since prakruti of a person can not be judged remotely, the patients can undertake this trial and see if they find significant benefits.

What is Cancer?
7

Many people will know a name that has had cancer. It is predictable that one in three of us will develop cancer at some point in our lives. Cancers can arise at any age, but the risk of developing cancer increases as we get older. Over 7 in 10 (70%) of all newly diagnosed cancers occur in people aged 60 or over. Some cancers are common; others are very rare. In the India, lung and prostate cancer are the most common cancers in men, while breast and lung cancer are the most common in women. The cause of most cancers is not known, but we do know that certain risk factors increase our chances of developing cancer. For example: Smoking Poor diet Radiation Exposure to hazardous substances Obesity and lack of exercise. Many people with cancer can be cured with jains cow urine therapy treatment, but in cases where this is not possible jains cow urine therapy can help to get better life eminence of patient, the illness can often be controlled with treatment for months or years. Cancer is not a single disease with a single type of treatment. There are more than 200 kinds of cancer, each with its own name and treatment. The organs and tissues of the body are made up of tiny building blocks called cells. Cancer is a disease of these cells. Cells in different parts of the body may look and work differently but most reproduce themselves in the same way. Cells are constantly becoming old and dying, and new cells are produced to replace them. Normally, cells divide in an orderly and controlled manner. If for some reason the process gets out of control, the cells carry on dividing, developing into a lump which is called a tumour. Tumours can be either benign or malignant. Cancer is the name given to a malignant tumour. Doctors can tell if a tumour is benign or malignant by examining a small sample of cells under a microscope. This is called a biopsy. In a benign tumour the cells do not spread to other parts of the body and so are not cancerous. However, if they continue to grow at the original site, they may cause a problem by pressing on the surrounding organs. A malignant tumour consists of cancer cells that have the ability to spread beyond the original area. If the tumour is left untreated, it may spread into and destroy surrounding tissue. Sometimes cells break away from the original (primary) cancer. They may spread to other organs in the body through the bloodstream or lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is part of the immune system the bodys natural defense against infection and disease. It is a complex system made up of organs, such as bone marrow, the thymus, the spleen, and lymph nodes. The lymph nodes (or glands) throughout the body are connected by a network of tiny lymphatic ducts. When the cancer cells reach a new area they may go on dividing and form a new tumour. This is known as a secondary cancer or metastasis. It is important to realize that cancer is not a single disease with a single type of treatment. There are more than 200 kinds of cancer, each with its own name and treatment. Cancer Symptoms 8

Some of the symptoms of cancer can be quite general and some are only likely to occur with particular types of cancer. It is worth remembering that symptoms are more commonly caused by other medical conditions, but its important to discuss any concerns you have with jains cow urine therapy clinic. Cancer can often be managed more easily when it is diagnosed in the early stages. Being aware of your body and what is normal for you, and reporting symptoms to your doctor, can help to make sure that if you do have cancer it is diagnosed as early as possible. There are some common signs and symptoms that may alert you to the fact that something is new or different. Lump / Swelling Knowing how your body normally looks and feels can help you spot any early changes that could be caused by cancer. You should see your doctor if you notice a lump anywhere in your body. It can be useful to tell them how long its been there and whether it is getting bigger, or causes discomfort. Cancerous lumps are often (but not always) painless. It can be difficult to tell what a lump is just by feeling it, but if your doctor suspects that you might have a cancer, you should contact jains cow urine therapy clinic immediately. It is important to remember that lumps and bumps often occur in the body, and most of these will not be cancer. Cough, breathlessness or hoarseness that doesnt go away There are many medical conditions that can cause chesty symptoms like coughing and breathlessness (for example, infections and inflammations), but in some cases these symptoms may be a sign of lung cancer. If you have a cough or feel breathless for more than two weeks you should see your doctor. You should also tell your doctor if you have any blood in your sputum (phlegm) when you cough. Laryngitis (inflammation of the larynx) is common and can cause a hoarse voice. In a small number of people, a hoarse voice may be a sign of cancer of the larynx (voice box). If hoarseness continues for longer than two weeks, you should tell your doctor. Changes in bowel habit Symptoms of bowel cancer may include blood in your stools (bowel motion). The blood would usually be dark but can be bright red in colour. Fresh, bright red blood is usually a sign of piles (hemorrhoids). You may notice a change in your normal bowel pattern (such as diarrhea or constipation) for no obvious reason. Some people also notice that they have pain in the abdomen or back passage. Remember that altered bowel habits arent always caused by cancer, but can be caused by changes in diet, some medicines, anxiety, and other medical conditions. If any changes last for more than a few weeks its important to rule out cancer as a possible cause, so you should see your doctor. Abnormal bleeding Any unexplained bleeding is a sign that there is something wrong and should always be checked out by your doctor. As previously mentioned, bleeding from the back passage is most commonly caused by piles, but can sometimes be due to cancer of the bowel or rectum. 9

Cancer of the womb or cervix can cause women to bleed between periods or after sex. Women who have any vaginal bleeding after they have had their menopause should see their doctor. If necessary your doctor will refer you to a gynecologist. Blood in your urine may be caused by bladder or kidney cancer. It can also be caused by infection. If you notice blood in your urine it is important to see your doctor for a check-up. Coughing up blood in your sputum may be caused by serious chest infections, but can sometimes be a sign of lung cancer. Vomiting blood can be a sign of stomach cancer, although it can also be due to a stomach ulcer. Therefore, it is important to have this checked out by your doctor. Bruising and nosebleed are rarely signs of cancer, but can in some cases be caused by leukaemia . However, people with leukaemia often have other troublesome symptoms too Changes in a mole Malignant melanoma is a type of skin cancer that often starts with a change in the appearance of normal skin. This can look like an abnormal new mole. Less than a third of melanomas develop in existing moles. It can be difficult to tell the difference between a mole and a melanoma, but any of the following changes should be checked out:

Asymmetry moles are usually regular and symmetrical in shape. Melanomas are likely to be irregular or asymmetrical. Border moles usually have a well-defined regular border. Melanomas are more likely to have an irregular border with jagged edges. Colour moles tend to be a single brown. Melanomas often have more than one colour. They may be varying shades of brown mixed with black, red, pink, white or a bluish tint. Size moles are normally no bigger than the blunt end of a pencil (about 6mm (1/4 inch) across). Melanomas are usually more than 7mm (1/2 inch) in diameter. Itching, crushing or bleeding may also occur in melanomas these are less common signs but should not be ignored.

It is important to see your doctor if you have any unusual marks on the skin that last more than a few weeks, or an existing mole which shows any of the above signs. Unexplained weight loss If you have lost a lot of weight over a short period of time (a couple of months), that cannot be explained by changes in your diet, increased exercise or stress, it is important to tell your doctor. Other symptoms, such as sickness, pain and fatigue also tend to occur when a person experiences weight loss due to cancer. Some of the symptoms of cancer can be quite general and some are only likely to occur with particular types of cancer. It may come back in the same area in which it first started; this is known as a recurrence. This can happen because tiny cancer cells, that may have been left behind when the tumour was removed, or that werent destroyed by treatments such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy, have begun to divide again and form a tumour. Or it may develop in a different part of the body, often referred to as a metastasis or secondary cancer. This can happen because a cancerous (malignant) tumour consists of cancer cells which have the ability to spread beyond the original site. If left untreated they may invade and destroy surrounding tissues. People sometimes worry about whether they might get cancer and whether they can do anything to reduce their risk. Usually, when a person has a cancer, the specific reason; why it developed isnt known. But we do know some things which may increase the risk of 12

developing a cancer. Some of them such as our lifestyle we can do something about. Others, such as our genes, we may not be able to change. CausesThere are over 200 different types of cancer. We dont know the causes for each one of these cancers, but we do know about some. It is important to note that for many cancers, there may be more than one cause. Diet and lifestyle We make lifestyle choices everyday some we know increase our risk of developing cancer, others may have an influence on our risk. For example, smoking is a major cause of lung cancer and is a factor in other cancers, such as bladder cancer and cancers of the head and neck. Other factors that can influence our risk of developing cancer include heavy alcohol consumption and exposure to sunlight. It is also thought that diet can influence the development of some cancers, although the evidence is less clear. Diets high in animal fats have been linked with breast cancer, bowel cancer and prostate cancer. A diet that is low in fresh fruit and vegetables may also increase your risk of developing some types of cancer. Obesity has been linked to some cancers, such as cancer of the breast or kidney. Environmental and occupational causes Contact with certain harmful substances in the environment or workplace can cause cancer. Substances that are known to cause cancer are called carcinogens. We know, for example, that 9 out of 10 people who develop mesothelioma (a rare type of cancer affecting the linings of the lung and abdomen) have had contact with asbestos. People who have worked in industries such as ship-building and construction may have come into contact with asbestos. Its use is now banned in the UK. Certain chemicals used in dye factories, rubber production, gas works and other chemical industries have all been linked to bladder cancer. Fortunately these chemicals have now been banned. Environmental causes include natural radiation, for example, from the sun. We know that most skin cancers, including melanoma, are caused because of prolonged exposure to the sun. Naturally occurring radon gas has also been linked to some types of cancer, namely lung cancer. Viruses It is important to remember cancers are not infectious and cannot be caught from someone. However, there are a number of viruses that are thought to be contributing factors in the development of cancer. For example, exposure to HPV (human papilloma virus) is known to increase the risk of developing some types of cancer. For further information about this, see the section about HPV and cancer. Other viruses include the Epstein-Barr virus, which is linked to some types of lymphoma. There is also a bacterial infection known as H-pylori which is linked to a rare type of stomach cancer. Ayurveda And Cancer Ayurveda describes that in cancer, the blood becomes impure due to aggravation of one or more dosha. This impurity of the blood is actually related to the subtle part of blood (rakta dhatu), and is not detected by physical tests. The dosha may get aggravated due to a number of factors including improper food and lifestyle. Smoking, chewing tobacco, breathing in chemical fumes or eating foods and fruits that have been heavily processed with chemical during cultivation also aggravate dosha in the body. 13

According to Ayurveda this happens due to the impurity in blood (rakta dhatu). The blood along with the aggravated dosha circulates in the whole body and relocates in a region that has weak immunity. As a result the normal function of blood in that region (organ/system) is disrupted. One of main functions of blood is transporting prana (life air) to each cell, the smallest functional unit in the body. Prana, according to Ayurveda, is not only oxygen but also contains a subtle force or energy, which empowers the cell to perform its normal functions including its division. Due to localization of improper rakta dhatu, the prana reaching the cells of that particular region also becomes impure. This leads to improper cell division, which is termed as cancer. If this is not detected at an early stage and proper measures are not taken, the impurity spreads to other regions having weak immunity. Thus the cancer spreads to other organs of the body. In India, traditional medicinal knowledge is very scientific and rich due to it is in practice since more than 5000 years, where many natural products are used as medicine. After the famous bio-piracy case of U.S. patent TURMERIC for healing (patent No. 5,401,504 ), The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (C.S.I.R) in India have digitalize more than 35,000 prescriptions and remedies for various diseases under the project Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (TKDL). On the other side, patients and the relatives of the patients start to search out alternate magical cure for cancer and mostly they meet quacks on the road. Being an Ayurveda practitioner, I have experienced the bitter truth that they expect MAGICAL CURE no matter whether the disease is in stage 4 or with or without metastasis. As there is a myth in society that Ayurveda can do magic and can cure any condition. But let me accept the truth that as an Ayurvedic Consultant we have our scope & limitations too. But there are many quacks claiming to cure all kinds of cancers & that to without examining the patients, without going through their reports. In fact such mal practice leads to mis-impression for entire pathy, Ayurveda. Ayurveda verbally means Science of life is mostly based on timeless classics better known as Samhitas like Charaka Samhita, Sushrut Samhita etc. written by Rishis. The Rishis were aware of chronicity and complications of the diseases and they have honestly classified the diseases according to the prognosis in 4 categories. Keeping this truth in mind it can be stated that that Ayurveda can be helpful in the management of cancer many ways, as prophylactic, palliative, curative & supportive and no doubt it helps to improve. Cow Urine Therapy And Cancer Cow urine therapy is the first and significant medical modality of cancer, which involves introduction of strong medicines. The target is fast growing cells. However the important obstacle is the toxicity it causes to normal tissues of the body and presence of mutations that confer resistance to these chemotherapeutic agents. The use of Cow urine therapy reduce the generation of oxidative stress induced aldehydes. Natural drugs which are used as Rasayans have been proved earlier to have antioxidant activities.

The cow urine therapy is capable of curing several curable and incurable diseases like cancer. The holy texts, such as Atharva Veda, Charak Samhita, Rajni Ghuntu, Vridhabhagabhatt, Amritasagar, Bhavprakash and Sushrut Samhita, contain beautiful 14

description about these things. Jains Cow Urine Therapy Clinic has conducted a lot of research in the past few years and reached at the conclusion that it is capable of helping cancer patients problems and several other diseases. The analysis of cow urine has shown that it contains nitrogen, sulphur, phosphate, sodium, manganese, carbolic acid, iron, silicon, chlorine, magnesium, maleic, citric, tartaric, succinic acids and calcium salts, vitamin A, B, C, D, E, minerals, lactose, enzymes, creatinine, hormones and gold acids. A person falls ill when there is deficiency or excess of the substances inside the body. The cow urine contains those substances, which are present in the human body. Therefore, consumption of cow urine maintains the balance of these substances and cures incurable diseases.Ancient Indian Vedic Scriptures including Manu Smriti, Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita quoted the use of cow urine with herbal extract helps in many incurable diseases like cancer. Cow urine or Goumutra is careful holy in the Hindu religion. Gomutra is used for special propose for its therapy standards. Gomutra can be used for ailments ranging from all types of cancer disease to fatness and tumor. Gomutra also comes in medicine or a ointment diverse with other usual therapeutic herbs and req

What Is Blood Disorder?

A blood disease is a disease which affects the blood. Many blood diseases are congenital, the result of inherited genetic disorders. Others may be acquired, typically in response to some sort of stress in the body. Blood diseases or blood disorders as they are sometimes called are distinct from blood-borne diseases, diseases which are carried in the blood. One of the key differences between a blood disease and a blood-borne disease is that blood diseases are not contagious. There are four types of blood disease. Coagulopathies are disorders which concern bleeding and clotting, such as hemophilia. Anemias concern the lack of hemoglobin, a substance in red blood cells which is vitally necessary for oxygen transport. Hematological malignancies like leukemia are cancers which affect the blood and bone marrow, while hemoglobinopathies are blood diseases which have to do with the structure of red blood cells. Sickle cell anemia is a classic example of a hemoglobinopathy. In the case of a blood disease that is caused by genetics, the treatment for the disease is usually focused on managing the symptoms to keep the patient comfortable and help him or her lead a normal life. In hemophilia, for example, the patient is provided with clotting factors so that the blood clots normally. These diseases cannot be cured, but they can often be managed very effectively. With the use of gene therapy in the future, it may be possible to address the underlying cause of such disorders. Blood diseases with external causes such as disease leading to anemia can be treated by addressing the cause, which also clears up the disease. In the case of blood malignancies, the blood may be treated with chemotherapy and radiation to kill the malignant cells, with more extreme procedures like marrow transplants and blood infusions being used in particularly aggressive cases. Many blood diseases are identified early, because the symptoms can be very debilitating for the patient. In the case of genetic diseases, people who know that their children are at risk may request testing shortly after birth to see if the genetic disorder is present, and some parents use genetic testing in assisted reproduction to select embryos which are free of the genetic disorder. In other instances, people go to the doctor for symptoms like fatigue, pale gums, excessive bleeding or clotting, joint pain, and so forth, and the blood disease is diagnosed with the assistance of medical tests. 15

uire is at present outstripping deliver. Asthma refers to airways (breathing tubes) that are chronically sensitive and inflamed. Inflammation (redness and swelling) is the basis and this result in airways that are hypersensitive to trigger factors such as dusts, smog, the haze, certain foods (particularly the preservatives and artificial colourings used in food preparations), some pets etc. When the airways react with these trigger factors, they can result in asthmatic symptoms, which can be sometimes dramatic and severe. It is important to understand that Asthma is usually part of a spectrum of clinical disorders which is commonly termed Atopic Tendencies. Besides sensitive lower airways, many patients would suffer from sensitive upper airways (Allergic Rhinitis), skin (Atopic Dermatitis), eyes (Allergic Conjunctivitis) too. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), around 300 million people currently suffer from asthma. It is the most common chronic (long duration) disease among children. The WHO report also states that asthma affects about 25-30 million in India alone. Asthma is a chronic disease that affects your airways. Your airways are tubes that carry air in and out of your lungs. If you have asthma, the inside walls of your airways become sore and swollen. That makes them very sensitive, and they may react strongly to things that you are allergic to or find irritating. When your airways react, they get narrower and your lungs get less air. This can cause wheezing, coughing, chest tightness and trouble breathing, especially early in the morning or at night. The airways are tubes that carry air into and out of your lungs. People who have asthma have inflamed airways. This makes the airways swollen and very sensitive. They tend to react strongly to certain substances that are breathed in. When the airways react, the muscles around them tighten. This causes the airways to narrow, and less air flows to your lungs. The swelling also can worsen, making the airways even narrower. Cells in the airways may make more mucus than normal. Mucus is a sticky, thick liquid that can further narrow your airways. This chain reaction can result in asthma symptoms. Symptoms can happen each time the airways are irritated. Sometimes symptoms are mild and go away on their own or after minimal treatment with an asthma medicine. At other times, symptoms continue to get worse. When symptoms get more intense and/or additional symptoms appear, this is an asthma attack. Asthma attacks also are called flareups or exacerbation. Its important to treat symptoms when you first notice them. This will help prevent the symptoms from worsening and causing a severe asthma attack. Severe asthma attacks may require emergency care, and they can cause death. While earlier, asthma had a lot of stigma attached to it, today, with the help of Janis cow urine therapy and Ayurveda you can live a normal, active life despite your asthma. Film stars have asthma, cricketers have asthma, prominent business people have asthma and they have not allowed it to come in the way of their success. So theres no reason why you should let asthma stop you or your loved one from making the most of life. You online need to believe in cow urine therapy and Ayurveda, and you will get out from this.

What Causes Asthma Symptoms To Occur?

The condition of asthma is basically an interaction of constitutionally sensitive airways with the environment. It is therefore important to understand that trigger factors precipitate attacks of asthma, but is not causative. Many things and circumstances in the sufferers environment can thus be trigger factors. Common trigger factors include dusts, house dust mites in bedding and draperies, pollution, strong odours/sprays, pests/insects such as cockroaches, animal dander, tobacco smoke, pollens, viral and bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, certain medicines and even exercise. A number of things can bring about or worsen asthma symptoms. Your doctor will help you find out which things (sometimes called triggers) may cause your asthma to flare up if you come in contact with them. Triggers may include: Allergens found in dust, animal fur, cockroaches, mold, and pollens from trees, grasses, and flowers Irritants such as cigarette smoke, air pollution, chemicals or dust in the workplace, compounds in home decor products, and sprays (such as hairspray) Certain medicines such as aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and nonselective beta-blockers Sulfites in foods and drinks Viral upper respiratory infections such as colds Exercise (physical activity) Other health conditionssuch as runny nose, sinus infections, reflux disease, psychological stress, and sleep apneacan make asthma more difficult to manage. These conditions need treatment as part of an overall asthma care plan. Asthma is different for each person. Some of the factors listed may not affect you. Other factors that do affect you may not be on the list. Talk to your doctor about the things that seem to make your asthma worse. Why Asthma Trigger Knowing what triggers your asthma is the first step to avoiding those triggers, which may help prevent some symptoms. Triggers vary from person to person, so you will have to figure out which of the potential triggers are problems and which are not. Smoking Cigarette smoke makes your asthma worse by irritating your airways and causing them to narrow. To reduce your exposure to smoke, try the following: If you smoke and have asthma, the best thing you can do is quit. Ask people not to smoke around you. If a family member smokes and refuses to quit, ask that person not to smoke inside the house, the car, and any enclosed spaces. Dust Mites Dust mites are tiny bugs you cannot see that live in cloth and carpet. To reduce the number of dust mites in your house, try the following: Encase your mattress and pillow in a special dust-proof cover. Replace old pillows with new ones. Wash your sheets and blankets each week in water hotter than 130F. Keep stuffed animals and toys out of your bed. 17

Wash stuffed animals and toys regularly in water hotter than 130F. Reduce room humidity to less than 50 percent by using a dehumidifier. Pets Some people are allergic to the dander (the flakes of skin) or dried saliva that come from animals with fur or feathers. If your symptoms get worse around pets, try the following tips: If you cannot keep pets out of your home, which can be hard to do, keep your pet out of your bedroom by keeping your bedroom door closed. Place filters on the air vents in your bedroom. Remove carpets and furniture covered with cloth from your home. If you cant remove carpets and cloth-covered furniture, keep your pets out of the rooms where these are located. Cockroaches Many people with asthma are allergic to the dried droppings and remains of cockroaches. Keep all food out of your bedroom. Keep food and garbage in closed containers (never leave food out). Use bait or traps to eliminate cockroaches. If a spray is used to kill roaches, stay out of the room until the odor goes away. Indoor Mold Moisture causes mold, so getting rid of excess water in your house or workplace may help get rid of mold. Fix leaky faucets, pipes, and other sources of water. Clean mold off of surfaces with a cleaner that has bleach in it. Replace or wash moldy shower curtains. Reduce room humidity to less than 50 percent. Strong Odors, Sprays, And Wood Smoke If you have asthma, you may be very sensitive to strong odors or chemicals in the air. If possible, do not use a wood-burning stove, kerosene heater, or fireplace. Try to stay away from strong odors and sprays, such as perfume, talcum powder, hair spray, and paints. Ask your family members to limit their use of perfumed products. Pollen Or Outdoor Mold Allergy season can be hard if you have asthma and allergies. During your allergy season, you should: Try to keep your windows closed. Stay indoors with your windows closed during the late morning and afternoon hours, if possible, because pollen and some mold spore counts are highest at that time. Ask your doctor if you need to adjust your current asthma treatment regimen before your allergy season starts. Exercise If you can prevent most asthma symptoms, you can still be active and participate in sports or other athletic activities. Warm up for about 6 to 10 minutes before you exercise by stretching or walking. Cool down afterward. 18

Pace yourself and dont do too much. Make sure to take any prescribed medication according to instructions from your doctor. Colds And Infections If colds and infections trigger your asthma, try the following: Talk with your health care professional about developing a treatment plan to follow when you start feeling sick. Get a flu shot every year. Get plenty of rest, eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, and drink plenty of fluids. Avoid contact with others who have colds or the flu. Weather If you are sensitive to very cold or very hot temperatures, try the following: Cover your nose and mouth with a scarf while outdoors on cold, wintry days. If warm weather irritates you, try to avoid other triggers during very hot days, such as high pollen or mold counts. Use the air conditioner during those days rather than opening windows

What Are Gastroentrology Disorders

Common Gastroentrology Disorders Constipation Constipation means different things to different people. For many people, it simply means infrequent stools. For others, however, constipation means hard stools, difficulty passing stools (straining), or a sense of incomplete emptying after a bowel movement. The cause of each of these types of constipation probably is different, and the approach to each should be tailored to the specific type of constipation Acidity The food we eat needs to be digested properly. In this process of digestion our stomach secrets acid that is extremely important for digestion. This acid helps to break down the food. But on certain situation or condition there is excess production of acid than what actually requires. In this condition you feel the heartburn and also a painful or irritating sensation in the esophagus (passage between the pharynx and the stomach). This condition is known as acidity or Acid Peptic Disease (APD). So the acidity is the surplus of gastric glands of the stomach. Ulcer A stomach ulcer (also called a peptic ulcer) is small erosion (hole) in the gastrointestinal tract. The most common type, duodenal, occurs in the first 12 inches of small intestine beyond the stomach. Ulcers that form in the stomach are called gastric ulcers. An ulcer is not contagious orcancerous. Duodenal ulcers are almost always benign, while stomach ulcers may become malignant. Dyspepsia Dyspepsia is a pain or an uncomfortable feeling in the upper middle part of your stomach. The pain might come and go, but its usually there most of the time. People of any age can get dyspepsia. Both men and women get it. About 1 of every 4 persons gets dyspepsia at some time. 19

Symptoms And Causes Of Gastroentrology Disorders Common Constipation symptoms include: 1. 2. 3. 4. The inability to have a bowel movement for several days or passing hard, dry stools Abdominal bloating, cramps or pain Decreased appetite Lethargy

Common causes of constipation are 1. not enough fiber in the diet 2. lack of physical activity (especially in the elderly) 3. medications 4. milk 5. irritable bowel syndrome 6. changes in life or routine such as pregnancy, aging, and travel 7. abuse of laxatives 8. ignoring the urge to have a bowel movement 9. dehydration 10. specific diseases or conditions, such as stroke (most common) 11. problems with the colon and rectum 12. problems with intestinal function (chronic idiopathic constipation) Symptoms of Acidity 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Burning sensation in the stomach. Heartburn Feeling of Nausea Dyspepsia Burping Lack of interest in foods Sour blenching

Causes of Acidity The most common cause of acidity are bad eating habits, not chewing food properly and not drinking adequate water. Eating junk food and spicy food can also be the causes of acidity. Eating too fast and eating on a bad mood can cause the acidity. Smoking, consumption of alcohol is common causes of acidity. Sometimes heavy meal can create acid too. Possible Signs of Ulcer 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Feel better when you eat or drink and then worse 1 or 2 hours later (duodenal ulcer) Feel worse when you eat or drink (gastric ulcer) Stomach pain that wakes you up at night Feel full fast Heavy feeling, bloating, burning or dull pain in your stomach Vomiting Unexpected weight loss

Causes Of Ulcer Most ulcers are caused by an infection. The infection is caused by a bacteria (germ) called Helicobacter pylori (say: hell-ee-ko-back-ter pie-lore-ee), or H. pylori for short. Acid and other juices made by the stomach can contribute to ulcers by burning the lining of your 20

digestive tract. This can happen if your body makes too much acid or if the lining of your digestive tract is damaged in some way. Physical or emotional stress may not necessarily cause an ulcer, but it can aggravate an ulcer if you have one. Ulcers can also be caused by anti-inflammatory medicines. Although most people take these medicines without problems, long-term use may damage the stomach lining and cause ulcers. Anti-inflammatory drugs include aspirin, ibuprofen (one brand name: Motrin), naproxen (brand name: Aleve), ketoprofen (brand names: Actron, Orudis KT) and some prescription drugs for arthritis. Signs of dyspepsia 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. A gnawing or burning stomach pain Bloating Heartburn Nausea (upset stomach) VomitingBurping If you have these signs, or any kind of stomach pain or discomfort, talk to your family doctor.

Causes of Dyspepsia Often, dyspepsia is caused by a stomach ulcer or acid reflux disease. If you have acid reflux disease, stomach acid backs up into your esophagus (the tube leading from your mouth to your stomach). This causes pain in your chest. Your doctor may do some tests to find out if you have an ulcer or acid reflux disease. Some medicines, like anti-inflammatory medicines, can cause dyspepsia. Sometimes no cause of dyspepsia can be found.</P< p> Ayurveda And Gastroentrology Disorders Healthy digestion assures that all of the nutrients taken in through eating are assimilated in a healthy manor into the cells that become you. In other words, you are what you digest! If your digestion is healthy, your body can produce healthy tissues (dhatus). When digestion is weak, the tissues of your body such as muscle, blood and nerve become weak susceptible to disease. The cause (Nidanam) of digestive disease lies in our actions. By indulging our sense of taste in an unhealthy manor we upset the balance of the bodily doshas. Vata is upset by cold, dry and light foods such as raw vegetables. Pitta is upset by warm, oily, light foods such as deep fried vegetables and Kapha is upset by cold, heavy, moist foods such as cold ice cream and yogurt. In addition, taking foods in an improper manor can be even more harmful than choosing inappropriate foods. Healthy food taken in the wrong way will still cause digestive disease. The symptoms of poor digestion include excessive gas, constipation, diarrhea, burping, burning, vomiting, indigestion, bloating and pain. In various forms, Western medicine has given them names such as irritable bowel syndrome, ulcers, colitis and pancreatitis among many others. Through the eyes of Ayurveda, the practitioner comes to an understanding of the cause through examining ones lifestyle. Faulty eating practices are the number one culprit, poor food choices and poor food combing are next in line. Together they make up the major causes of digestive disease. The Ayurvedic Specialist examines the patient and also comes to an understanding the pathogenesis (Samprapti) of the disease or how the disease unfolded within the body of the patient. By understanding the pathogenesis, the Clinician can develop a treatment plan to 21

reserve the condition. This treatment plan includes both constitutional treatments to address the patients lifestyle and direct treatment to target the compromised area of the body. The key players in the Ayurvedic pathogenesis of digestive disease are as follows. The nature of their imbalance and how they are interacting determines the presentation of the disease. Jatharagni: This is the digestive fire that governs the catabolism (breakdown) of the food into smaller molecules for digestion. When it is healthy, the body is capable of proper assimilation. When it is too weak the initial digestion of food is compromised and either malabsorption will take place or ama will form. When it is too strong, burning results. Samana Vayu: This is a subdosha or type of Vata which governs the absorption of nutrients into the body. Assuming they were broken down properly, samana vayu can guide their absorption. Not only does samana vayu govern absorption but it also directly affects agni as would wind when it blows upon a fire. If the wind is strong, the fire is strong. If the wind is weak, the fire burns low. If the wind fluctuates so does the fire. Faulty samana vay can lead to gas, diarrhea and malabsorption. Apana Vayu: This type of Vata governs the downward motion. Particularly the excretion of toxins and feces. When it is healthy, elimination is normal, the bowel movements are solid but soft. When apana vayu is faulty, a variety of problems can manifest including both constipation and diarrhea. Kledak Kapha: This type of Kapha governs the protective mucous lining of the digestive system. Particularly that of the stomach. When healthy it is in equilibrium and agni and vayu protecting the membranes from too which heat or dryness. When excessive, mucous forms and nausea results. When diminished, the membranes become susceptible to the irritating effects of agni and the drying effects of vayu. In addition, an increase in the solid nature of Kapha can block the digestive tract and cause constipation. Packak Pitta: This type of pitta contains the agni. This is called Pachak agni. This aspect of Jatharagni is responsible for the breakdown of food. Its role is essentially that of Jatharagni. However, since Pitta is fire and water in combination, it is possible to have high pitta and low agni. A metaphor often used to explain this is how water can put out a fire. If fire and water increase together, eventually it is possible that the water will put out the fire. This ist he case in chronic pitta digestive disturbances. This results burning as well as ama formation due to poor digestion. Ama Dosha: Ama is the end result of poorly digested food. It has sticky qualities which adhere to the channels (srotas) of the body obstructing flow. It is a toxin which accumulates in the digestive system and is later deposited into the organs and tissues of the body where it contributes to disease. Ama leads to foul odors in the breath and body as well as foul smelling gas

What Is Gynecological Disorder ?

Gynecological or gynecdogy has derived from Greek Gynaika meaning woman, is the medical practice dealing with the health of female reproductive system (uterus, Vagina and ovaries etc). Literally outside medicine it means the science of woman. 22

A gynecological disorder pertains to the diseases of female but the term is generally used for diseases related to female genital tract.

Causes & Symptoms Of Gynecological Disorder Amenorrhea: It is defined as absence of menstruation. Amenorrhea can be classifieds 1. Physiological: Prepulertal, Pregnancy, Lactation, Post Menopausal. 2. Pathological: -Primary, Secondary. A) Primary: When menstruation fails to begin by age of 16 inspite of well developed secondary sex character. B) Secondary: Amenorrhea of 6 month is more with previous normal menstrual function. General Symptoms of Gynec Disorder: Discharge from vagina weakness malaise, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, irritability, giddiness, pain lower abdomen, heaviness in abdomen, itching in put parts. 23

Ayurveda And Gynecological Disorder Ayurveda describes that in female disorders there is aggravation of one or more doshas. The doshas may be aggravated due to a number of factors including in proper food, lifestyle improper posture and improper sex. According to Ayurveda this happens due to improper doshas. The blood along with the aggravated doshas circulate in the whole body and relocates in the region that has weak immunity. As a result the normal function of blood in that region (organ) is disrupted which results in irregular bleeding or formation of cyst or fibroid. In India traditional medicinal knowledge is very scientific and rich due to its practice since more than 5000 years where many natural products where used as medicine. Ayurveda verbally means science of life is mostly based on samhitas like charak samhita, sushruta samhita, sharagdhar samhita writen by rishis. The rishis were aware of chronicity and complications of diseases and they have honestly classified the diseases accordingly. Cow Urine And Gynecological Disorder The original scriptures of Ayurveda consider cow urine to be the elixir of life cow urine is basically an excellent germicide that kills a variety of germs. There all the diseases that are caused by germs are destroyed through cow urine therapy. And if it is taken alone or mixes with herbal drugs daily it improves the immunity in such a way that resists almost every disease. Gynaec disorders have been proven to be cured by cow urine therapy medicines. In fact if cow urine is taken regularly it keeps our doshas vatpitta kapha in samma state. It removes the toxins from our blood thus maintaining good health and disease free body. Cow urine contains various elements which are present in our body and required by our body. It tries to balance those elements if they are more or less hence is reestablishing the equilibrium for a healthy body.

What are Heart Diseases?

The heart gives us life. It pumps the blood we need to various parts of our body. It is the central point of all our actions. Along with the brain, the heart is responsible for all our actions. Notice that if a person suffers from a stroke caused by atherosclerosis or a blockage in his cardiovascular system, sooner or later, the brain also deteriorates and follows henceforth, possibly resulting to a comatose. There are different kinds of heart diseases. All of them triggered by too much stress and too much cholesterol. That is why doctors often recommend their patients to have a rest, get some exercise and lessen the cholesterol intake by dining on saturated fat and saturated salts instead. To those who have a history of coronary heart disease, the case is different because they are at a higher risk in getting the disease for good. The root cause of most cases of coronary artery disease or cardiovascular disease is a build up of atheroma a fatty deposit within the inside lining of arteries. A blockage caused by the development of complex atheromatous plaques, composed of inflamed tissues and fatty deposits on the inner surface of the artery. These plaques develop slowly over time and may cause chronic restriction of blood flow leading to pain on exertion (angina) or it may lead to as acute blockage. This most often occurs when the irregular, inflamed surface of the plaque leads to the formation of a blood clot. When this occurs a region of heart muscle is suddenly deprived of blood and gets damaged. This is what is known as a heart 24

attack. If the damage is relatively limited the heart can recover but major damage can lead to death. Similar degeneration of arteries in the brain leads to loss of blood supply and stroke or death. Smoking and high levels of blood cholesterol, associated with high intakes of saturated fat, are both major risk factors for these plaques, coronary artery disease and strokes. Heart Disease Symptoms As heart disease also refers to the problems with the blood vessels, symptoms of peripheral blood vessel disorders should also be placed under scrutiny. This disorder varies depending on the location of the affected blood vessels. Symptoms in such cases may include pain, shortness of breath, muscle cramps, muscle fatigue, light-headedness, swelling, numbness, and changes in the color of the skin of the affected part of the body.

Chest Pain:

Symptoms like chest pain arises when stiffness or grasping sensation in the chest (angina) is experienced due to inadequate supply of blood. This is caused when the muscles in the heart do not get enough blood (a condition referred to as ischemia), and enough oxygen, to be carried to tissues by the blood.

Fatigue:

Feelings of weakness and fatigue can be considered as symptoms arising out of inadequate blood flow to the heart muscles mostly during any physical activity. This is caused when the heart pumps inefficiently as it does in heart failure.

Palpitation:

The rate of heartbeats is very difficult to judge. Irregular heart beats or palpitations occur with other symptoms, such as shortness of breath, chest pain, fatigue, or fainting, are more likely to result from an abnormal heart rhythm or a severe disorder. It can be properly diagnosed by the doctor with the help of electrocardiography (ECG).

Shortness of Breath:

Shortness of breath or dyspnea is regarded as a common symptom of heart failure. It occurs due to the condition called pulmonary congestion or pulmonary edema when fluid seeps into the air spaces of the lungs. Shortness of breath occurs mostly in people suffering from coronary artery disease and usually occurs during physical activity. However, in serious cases it may occur even during rest or minimal activity.

Limitation of Physical Activity:

A very frequent and common symptoms of heart disease is a persons limitation in physical activity or in performing any kind of chores. One of the measures taken to evaluate the severity of heart disease is to determine the scale of limitation in each case; which can be graded on that basis as mild, moderate and severe.

Swelling & Numbness:

Swelling is caused due to the accumulation of fluid (edema) in tissues. It occurs when blood collect in the leg veins, increasing pressure in the leg veins and forcing fluids out of the veins into tissues. This collecting or pooling of blood may be an indication of heart 25

failure or a venous disorder, such as deep vein thrombosis. Similarly numbness may be caused along with swelling if the blood supply to the affected area is inadequate.

Changes in Skin Color:

In cases of inadequate supply of blood, due to anemia, or if the veins do not drain adequately, there might be changes in the color of the skin when the skin may appear pale, bluish or purplish.

Light Headedness and Fainting:

Inadequate flow of blood, due to irregularities in the heart rate or rhythm, the heart cannot pump adequately resulting in light-headedness, faintness, or fainting (syncope). Causes Of Heart Disease Coronary heart disease is usually caused by a condition called atherosclerosis, which occurs when fatty material and other substances form a plaque build-up on the walls of your arteries. This causes them to get narrow. As the coronary arteries narrow, blood flow to the heart can slow down or stop. This can cause chest pain (stable angina), shortness of breath, heart attack, and other symptoms, usually when you are active. Many things increase your risk for heart disease :1. Men in their 40s have a higher risk of heart disease than women. But as women get older (especially after they reach menopause), their risk increases to almost equal that of a mans risk. 2. Bad genes (heredity) can increase your risk. You are more likely to develop the condition if someone in your family has a history of heart disease especially if they had it before age 50. Your risk for heart disease goes up the older you get. 3. Diabetes is a strong risk factor for heart disease. 4. High blood pressure increases your risks of coronary artery disease and heart failure. 5. Abnormal cholesterol levels: youre LDL (bad) cholesterol should be as low as possible, and your heart (good) cholesterol should be as high as possible to reduce your risk of heart disease. 6. Metabolic syndrome refers to high triglyceride levels, high blood pressure, excess body fat around the waist, and increased insulin levels. People with this group of problems have an increased chance of getting heart disease. 7. Smokers have a much higher risk of heart disease than nonsmokers. 8. Chronic kidney disease can increase your risk. 9. Already having atherosclerosis or hardening of the arteries in another part of your body (examples are stroke and abdominal aortic aneurysm) increases your risk of having coronary heart disease. 10. Other risk factors include alcohol abuse, not getting enough exercise, and having excessive amounts of stress. Cow Urine Therapy And Heart Disease They have identified cow urine as one of the most effective medicines for lungs, heart, gastro-intestinal systems, and liver and for many other body organs. It has a great healing potency in diseases like leprosy, leucoderma, liver diseases, AIDS, diabetes, blood pressure, heart diseases, epilepsy, obesity, infertility, asthma, cough- cold, constipation, jaundice, sleep disorder, anemia etc. Modern scientific researches have also proved its healing potency and various research organizations are now developing drugs for various 26

diseases using cow urine. According to researcher cow urines is a rich source of various vitamins, minerals and acids. It contains Vitamin A, B, C, D, E, Carbolic acid, Uric acid, Sodium, Potassium, Urea, Nitrogen, Phosphate, Manganese, Iron, Copper, Gold salt and other useful components that are rare elsewhere. A milk-giving cows urine contains lactose which is considered very beneficial for patients suffering from heart diseases and brain disorders. Urine got from those cows that graze in forest areas and natural vegetations is considered most beneficial. Cow urine destroys miseries and diseases. It purifies both body and mind. Thus mental disease does not persist. It is in the mode of goodness (Satvik). A lot of poisonous herbs mentioned in Ayurveda are purified from their poison by cow u

What Is HIV AIDS ?

AIDS stands for Acquired immunodeficiency (or immune deficiency) Syndrome. It results from infection with a virus called HIV, which stands for human immunodeficiency virus. This virus infects key cells in the human body called CD4-positive (CD4+) T cells. These cells are part of the bodys immune system, which fights infections and various cancers. When HIV invades the bodys CD4+ T cells, the damaged immune system loses its ability to defend against diseases caused by bacteria, viruses, and other microscopic organisms. A substantial decline in CD4+ T cells also leaves the body vulnerable to certain cancers. There is no cure for AIDS, but medical treatments can slow down the rate at which HIV weakens the immune system. As with other diseases, early detection offers more options for treatment and preventing complications. Early infection with HIV often produces no symptoms. When there are symptoms, they can include flu-like symptoms that occur about four to eight weeks after infection. These symptoms generally go away within several weeks. There then may be no symptoms for months to years. The most serious complication of HIV infection is AIDS. For more details on complications and symptoms, refer to symptoms of HIV. Any person that engages in sexual activity can contract and pass on HIV. This includes heterosexual, homosexual, and bisexual men and women. The more sexual partners a person has, the greater the risk of catching and passing on HIV. Having another type of sexually transmitted disease, such as chlamydia, genital herpes, HPV or gonorrhea, also puts a person at greater risk for contracting an HIV infection and AIDS. HIV AIDS Symptoms The earliest symptoms of HIV infection occur while your body begins to form antibodies to the virus (known as seroconversion) between six weeks and three months after infection with the HIV virus. Those who do show early HIV symptoms will develop flu-like symptoms. This can include: fever, rash, muscles aches and swollen lymph nodes and glands. However, for most people, the first symptoms of HIV will not be apparent. Although the infection is slowly taking hold of your body, the majority of those infected with HIV will be asymptomatic. Only by being tested for HIV can you know for sure if you have been infected. Yet, despite the absence of HIV symptoms, you are still highly contagious during this time making it very much a possibility to infect others, including your baby. Depression : Everyone has had days where they were feeling a little blue. We all have been down in the dumps or felt blah But when these feelings last longer than a couple weeks you may be suffering from depression. How do you deal with HIV and depression? But never fear because with one good brushing, your mouth is as fresh as a daisy. But what if the bad taste and and white coating doesnt go away with a simple brushing? Then you may have the most common HIV opportunistic infection; the opportunistic infection known as thrush. Weight Loss :- Weight loss is a common HIV symptom. Unless you are actively trying to lose weight by exercising and watching what you eat, weight loss is a serious problem. This feature can help you address weight loss due to HIV. Lipodystrophy :- People infected with HIV are living longer and more productive lives. The reason is the introduction of HIV medication combinations into standard HIV care. But with the benefits of HIV medications also comes some unforeseen problems. One such problem is fat redistribution syndrome or lipodystrophy. Lactic Acidosis :- With all the benefits of HIV medications comes some potential serious side effects. One of the most serious is a condition known as lactic acidosis. This feature will tell you everything you need to know about this serious side effect of HIv medications. Sinus Infections :- Your head feels congested and full. The pressure behind your eyes makes it hard to concentrate. The pounding in your head and face is relentless. Theres nothing like the pain of a sinus infection and sinus headache. Sinusitis (sinus infection) is a common problem for people living with HIV. Here is some help for those dealing with this uncomfortable condition. Fatigue :- Fatigue can be a common problem for those living with HIV. Increase your energy level by first identifying the cause of your fatigue. This feature will help you do just that. Nausea / Vomiting :- Nausea is not only aggravating and can make you feel sick, when associated with vomiting it can be dangerous. People living with HIV are often troubled by nausea; either because of their HIV medications or because of some opportunistic infection. This feature will help you deal with this sickening symptom. Burning and Tingling of the Feet and Hands :- Its probably the most common cause of pain for people living with HIV. The burning and tingling of peripheral neuropathy can make a person feel miserable. Causes Of HIV AIDS The earliest symptoms of HIV infection occur while your body begins to form antibodies to the virus (known as seroconversion) between six weeks and three months after infection with the HIV virus. The virus can be transmitted through unprotected sex, via infected blood or from an infected pregnant woman to her unborn child. Its a very fragile virus that doesnt live outside the body for long and it certainly cant penetrate unbroken skin. For many years there have been mass publicity and education programs designed to inform people how HIV is transmitted. In the early days there were mixed messages some health campaigns led people to believe they should avoid practically all contact with an infected person. This led to people with HIV and AIDS being ostracized from society.

28

These days were a bit more switched on about HIV. More is known about the virus and how it is transmitted. The most common method of transmission is though unprotected sexual intercourse with an infected person. HIV is found in vaginal and penile fluids which are produced before and during sex. When an infected man ejaculates inside a woman during intercourse his infected semen can pass into the blood stream through even a microscopic cut inside the body. An infected womans vaginal fluid can pass on HIV through a possible raw patch on the penis. The risk of contracting HIV with anal intercourse is greater than with vaginal intercourse because the anus lining is very delicate and can be more easily damaged. This allows the infection to get into the blood through any damaged tissue. Infection from oral sex alone is very rare, although it can happen. For example if a person sucks on the penis of an infected partner and HIV carrying semen gets into the mouth, it could get into the blood stream if there is a cut or ulcer in the mouth. The same applies to a womens vaginal fluid during oral sex. Transmission through infected blood occurs in several ways. These days the most common is through using dirty needles to inject drugs. These needles could carry a small amount of blood from an infected person which could be injected straight into the next user. Likewise a doctor or nurse could accidentally stick themselves with an infected needle while treating a person with the virus. This however is extremely rare. Back in the early 1980s, before blood was screened for HIV, the infection was transmitted through contaminated blood during transfusions. In the late 80s a large number of people started displaying the symptoms of HIV after receiving blood several years before. Hemophiliacs in particular were affected. An HIV positive pregnant woman can pass on the virus to her child before or during birth because of the sharing of blood. She can also pass it on through her breast milk. There are many urban myths surrounding how HIV is transmitted. You CANT get it from kissing, coughing or sneezing and certainly not from swimming pools, showers or toilets. Its not spread through mosquito bites and provided an unbroken condom is used it wont get through while having sex anal or vaginal. Basically HIV transmission requires very close contact with vaginal fluids, semen, breast milk or infected blood. Ayurveda And HIV Aids According to Ayurveda the AIDS disease may be correlated with Kshaya or Ojakshaya meaning loss of energy. The Symptoms and causative factors and treatment for the latter are found mentioned in many ancient Ayurvedic tests like, Charaka Samhitha, Bhavaprakasha,Vaidyachintamani and Chakradatta etc., Shosha is another condition, which results from loss of energy that is similar to AIDS. The disease is caused by the dominant kapha dosha along with the other doshas tends to block the path for the flow of rasadi dhatus in their respective locations thus resulting in the deterioration of saptha dhatu Rasa(plasma), Rakta (blood cells),Mansa ( muscular tissue), Meda (adipose tissue), Asthi (bony tissue), Majja (bone marrow) and the Shukra (reproductive tissue). thus resulting into the disease. The major symptoms are: 29

Cow Urine Therapy And HIV AIDS Cow urine has a unique place in Ayurveda and has been described in Sushrita Samhita and Ashtanga Sangraha to be the most effective substance/secretion of animal origin with innumerable therapeutic values. It has been recognized as water of life or Amrita (beverages of immotality), the nector of the God. In India, drinking of cow urine has been practiced for thousands of years. It is an important ingredient of panchgavya, a term used to describe five major substances (urine, milk, ghee, curd and dung), obtained from cow. All the five products possess medicinal properties, and are used singly or in combination with some other herbs against many diseases, even those not curable by allopathic treatments. Ayurvedic practitioner in India, claims that ayurveda identified AIDS over 2,000 years ago. The ancient malady was termed Rajayakshma (the king of diseases) and its symptoms were identical to AIDS going by the descriptions of Vagbhata in Ashtanga Hridayam (Chikitsitam section) and its supplementary text, the Ashtanga Sangraham, as well as in another ayurvedic classic, Charaka Samhita (Nidanam section). As per the ayurveda cow urine with combincation of herbals boost immunity levels. Subsequently, counter the virus in patient. A special medicine build with five element of cow (prepared from cows urine, cows milk, ghee and herbal extract) is help to improve strengthen the system and stimulate appetite. Cow urine can kill the number of drug resistant bacteria and viruses. Recently the cow urine has been granted U.S. Patents (No. 6,896,907 and 6,410,059) for its medicinal properties, particularly for its use along with antibiotics for the control of bacterial infection and fight against cancers. This kind of alternative treatment, termed as panchgavya therapy or cowpathy, has been reported to be beneficial even for dreaded diseases like cancer, AIDS and diabetes. Cow urine enhances the immunocompetence and improves general health of an individual; prevent the free radicals formation and act as anti-aging factor; reduces apoptosis in lymphocytes and helps them to survive; and efficiently repairs the damaged DNA, thus is effective for the HIV Aids. rine. Cow urine keeps mind happy & calm. So body remains healthy

What Is Hypertension ?
The heart pumps blood into the arteries with enough force to push blood to the far reaches of each organ from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet. Blood pressure can be defined as the pressure of blood on the walls of the arteries as it circulates through the body. Blood pressure is highest as its leaves the heart through the aorta and gradually decreases as it enters smaller and smaller blood vessels (arteries, arterioles, and capillaries). Blood returns in the veins leading to the heart, aided by gravity and muscle contraction. 30

Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is defined as a reading of 140/90 on three consecutive measurements at least six hours apart. The definition varies for pregnant women, where hypertension is defined as 140/90 on two consecutive measurements six hours apart. Consistently high blood pressure causes the heart to work harder than it should and can damage the coronary arteries, the brain, the kidneys, and the eyes. Hypertension is a major cause of stroke. Hypertension or high blood pressure is a condition in which the blood pressure in the arteries is chronically elevated. With every heart beat, the heart pumps blood through the arteries to the rest of the body. Blood pressure is the force of blood that is pushing up against the walls of the blood vessels. If the pressure is too high, the heart has to work harder to pump, and this could lead to organ damage and several illnesses such as heart attack, stroke, heart failure, aneurysm, or renal failure. According to medical dictionary, hypertension means High blood pressure; transitory or sustained elevation of systemic arterial blood pressure to a level likely to induce cardiovascular damage or other adverse consequences. The normal level for blood pressure is below 120/80, where 120 represent the systolic measurement (peak pressure in the arteries) and 80 represents the diastolic measurement (minimum pressure in the arteries). Blood pressure between 120/80 and 139/89 is called prehypertension (to denote increased risk of hypertension), and a blood pressure of 140/90 or above is considered hypertension. Hypertension may be classified as essential or secondary. Essential hypertension is the term for high blood pressure with unknown cause. It accounts for about 95% of cases. Secondary hypertension is the term for high blood pressure with a known direct cause, such as kidney disease, tumors, or birth control pills. Going by the trends in the incidence of cardiovascular diseases in India, the country is likely to have 100 million heart patients, i.e. nearly 60 per cent of the worlds heart patients by the year 2020, according to an observation made by Dr Anil Kumar, president of the Cardiological Society of India (CSI). Hypertension Symptoms High blood pressure usually causes no symptoms and high blood pressure often is labeled the silent killer. People who have high blood pressure typically dont know it until their blood pressure is measured. There is no guarantee that a person with hypertension will present any symptoms of the condition. 1. Severe headaches 2. Problems with vision or blurred vision 3. Chest pains 4. Breathing problems 5. Irregular heartbeat 6. Blood in the urine 7. Frequent headache 8. Dizziness 9. Heart attack 10. Heart failure 11. Kidney failure 12. Peripheral arterial disease causing leg pain with walking (claudication) 13. Outpouchings of the aorta, called aneurysms 31

Causes Of Hypertension In 90% of people with hypertension, the cause of high blood pressure is not known and is referred to as primary or essential hypertension. While the specific cause is unknown, there are risk factors that can contribute to developing high blood pressure. Factors that can not be changed :1. Age: The older a person is, the greater the likelihood that he or she will develop high blood pressure, especially elevated systolic readings. This is largely due toarteriosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries. 2. Race: African Americans develop high blood pressure more often than Caucasians. They develop high blood pressure at a younger age and develop more severe complications sooner in life. 3. Socioeconomic status: High blood pressure is found more commonly among the less educated and lower socioeconomic groups. Residents of the southeastern United States, both Caucasian and African American, are more likely to have high blood pressure than residents of other regions. 4. Family history (heredity): The tendency to have high blood pressure appears to run in families. 5. Gender: Generally men have a greater likelihood of developing high blood pressure than women. This likelihood varies according to age and among various ethnic groups. Factors that can be changed :1. Obesity: As body weight increases, the blood pressure rises. Being overweight increases the risk of high blood pressure..Obese people are two to six times more likely to develop high blood pressure than people whose weight is within a healthy range. 2. Sodium (salt) sensitivity: Some people have high sensitivity to sodium (salt), and their blood pressure increases if they use salt. Reducing sodium intake tends to lower their blood pressure. Fast foods and processed foods contain particularly high amounts of sodium. 3. Alcohol use: Drinking more than one to two drinks of alcohol per day tends to raise blood pressure in those who are sensitive to alcohol. 4. Birth control pills (oral contraceptive use): Some women who take birth control pills develop high blood pressure.Lack of exercise (physical inactivity): A sedentary lifestyle contributes to the development of obesity and high blood pressure. 5. Medications: Certain drugs, such as amphetamines (stimulants), diet pills, and some medications used for cold and allergy symptoms such aspseudoephedrine, tend to raise blood pressure. Ayurveda And Hypertension According to Ayurveda, high blood pressure involves all the doshas, the heart, and the blood vessels. We can see signs and symptoms of derangement of vata dosha mainly that of Vyana vayu in high blood pressure. The treatment is to correct the balance of vata dosha.Pitta visiation is also seen often and should be trated. People with Pitta and Vata predominante constitution and Pitta and Vata imbalance, are more prone to hypertension than any other. Unprocessed anger, frustration, irritability, anxiety and fear leads to maladaptation of the endocrine system, which then leads to conditions like hypertension. Treatment is based on bringing these imbalances back to normal. In the treatment of hypertension; nutrition, exercise, breathing exercises (Pranayama), yoga, meditation, behavioral modification along with various herbs and minerals are prescribed. 32

Ayurvedic treatment for hypertension or high blood pressure can help you get rid of it if you are aware of when it would be fruitful for you. Hypertension or high blood pressure is the silent killer of modern times. People end up with stroke, heart disorders and renal failure due to hypertension. Most of the antihypertensive drugs have their own side effects like low libido, anxiety, renal toxicity etc. So the best approach is live with a preventive mindset and if you find yourself in the pangs of hypertension, use by all means one or alternative approaches Ayurveda, herbs, yoga, relaxation, exercise and diet to get rid of high blood pressure. Following the principles of Ayurveda encourages a persons balance within themselves and within their environment. Heart diseases, including hypertension, involve imbalances in all three doshas (psychophysiological energies). An Ayurvedic course of treatment is individualized based upon the predominating dosha (Vata, Pitta, and Kaphathree main bodily humours that make up the basis for Ayurvedic medicine) imbalance that a person is experiencing. 1. The Vata dosha is responsible for the heartbeat and for the overall circulation of the blood. An imbalance in this dosha is frequently associated with nervous system disorders and will be characterized as anxiety, worry, or stress. Ayurvedic treatments for these psychological imbalances often include herbs such as raulfia serpentine, garlic, and nutmeg. 2. The Pitta dosha is associated with the enzymes in the heart. When Pitta is the dominant dosha that is out of balance, symptoms such as anger, nosebleeds, irritability, and fluctuations in the high blood pressure will be seen. Herbs which provide a calming effect will be used. These may include Brahma Rasayana Saraswat powder and Indian sarsaparilla. 3. The Kapha dosha is related to the strength of the heart. When a Kapha imbalance predominates, signs will be swelling of the hands and feet, lethargy, obesity, and a consistently high blood pressure. Ayurvedic practitioners recommend that the person stay away from dairy products, eggs, and meat. Herbs that are prescribed in this imbalance are guggulu, cardamom, and cinnamon Cow Urine Therapy And Hypertension Recent scientific studies reveal that cow urine doses with herbal extract are beneficial in hypertension. They decrease blood lipids and glucose and increase clot dissolution. Cow urine lowers blood pressure, by relaxing the smooth muscles of the blood vessels, allowing them to dilate. Cow urine with herbal extract contains adenosine, the smooth muscle relaxant. Additionally, cow urine contains small amounts of prostaglandin A1 and E, substances with blood-pressure-lowering effect. Cow urine also possesses potent fatlowering properties. Blood pressure control is a lifelong challenge. Hypertension can progress through the years, and treatments that worked earlier in life may need to be adjusted over time. Blood pressure control may involve a stepwise approach beginning with diet, weight loss, and lifestyle changes and eventually adding medications as required. In some situations, medications may be recommended immediately. As with many diseases, the health care practitioner and patient work together as a team to find the treatment plan that will work for that specific individual. The rust is a traditional ingredient in Indian Ayurvedic medicine: the former prime minister Morarji Desai used to drink his own urine daily, and several important gurus argue that even cow pee helps cure cancer, diabetes or hypertension. 33

Direct and indirect benefits of cow urine in hypertension :1. Mental tension hurts nervous system. 2. Cow urine is called medhya and hradya, which means it, gives strength to brain and heart. Thus cow urine protects heart and brain from damages caused by mental tension and protects these organs from disorders and diseases. 3. Cow urine has amazing germicidal power to kill varieties of germs. All germ generated diseases are thus destroyed. 4. According to Ayurveda the cause of all diseases is the imbalance in three faults (tridosas) i.e. mucous, bile and air. Cow urine balances the tri-dosas, thus diseases are cured. 5. Cow urine corrects functioning of liver. So, liver makes healthy pure blood. It gives disease resistance power to the body. 6. There are some micronutrients in our body, which give life strength. These micronutrients are flushed out through urine. Therefore gradually ageing steps in our body. Cow urine has all elements, which compensate for deficiency of nutrients in our body, which are required for healthy life. Thus Cow urine stops ageing process. So it is called an elixir and also life giving. 7. Cow urine contains many minerals especially Copper, gold salts, etc. It compensates for bodily mineral deficiency. Presence of gold salts protects body against diseases. 8. Excessive use of any medicine leaves some residue in our body. This residue causes diseases. Cow urine destroys the poisonous effects of residues and makes body disease free. 9. Electric currents (rays) which are present in the environment keep our body healthy. These rays in form of extremely small currents enter our body through Copper in our body. We get Copper from cow urine. To attract these electric waves is quality of Copper. Thus we become healthy. 10. By acting against the voice of soul (immoral & sinful action), the heart and mind become narrow minded. Due to this the functioning of body is effected and causes diseases. Cow urine provides mode of goodness. Thus helps us to perform correct activities by mind. Thus protects from diseases. 11. In scriptures some diseases are said to be due to sinful actions performed in previous lives which we have to bear. Ganga resides in cow urine. Ganga is destroyer of sins, thus cow urine destroys such previous sins and so diseases are cured. 12. The diseases caused by entrance of ghosts in body are cured by intake of cow urine. The Master of ghosts is Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva holds Ganga on his head. Ganga is in cow urine also. Thus by taking cow urine, the ghosts get to see Ganga over their masters head. So they are calmed and become peaceful. So they do not trouble the body. Thus, diseases caused by entrance of ghosts are also destroyed. 13. By regularly taking cow urine before sickness, we get so much immunity that any attack of diseases is repulsed. 14. Cow urine being miraculous poison destroyer, destroys the disease caused by poison (Toxin). Extremely dangerous chemicals are purified by cow urine. Cow urine provides immunity power by increasing resistance power against diseases in human body. It is anti toxin. 15. Sarve rogaah hi mandagnau All diseases begin with mandagni (Low fire i.e. digestive capacity). If fire is strong, diseases wont occur. Cow urine keeps the fire strong

What are Kidney Disorders

34

The kidneys play key roles in body function, not only by filtering the blood and getting rid of waste products, but also by balancing levels of electrolyte levels in the body, controlling blood pressure, and stimulating the production of red blood cells. The kidneys are located in the abdomen toward the back, normally one on each side of the spine. They get their blood supply through the renal arteries directly from the aorta and send blood back to the heart via the renal veins to the vena cava. (The term renal is derived from the Latin name for kidney.) The kidneys have the ability to monitor the amount of body fluid, the concentrations of electrolytes like sodium and potassium, and the acid-base balance of the body. They filter waste products of body metabolism, like urea from protein metabolism and uric acid from DNA breakdown. Two waste products in the blood can be measured: blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine (Cr). When blood flows to the kidney, sensors within the kidney decide how much water to excrete as urine, along with what concentration of electrolytes. For example, if a person is dehydrated from exercise or from an illness, the kidneys will hold onto as much water as possible and the urine becomes very concentrated. When adequate water is present in the body, the urine is much more dilute, and the urine becomes clear. This system is controlled by renin, a hormone produced in the kidney that is part of the fluid and blood pressure regulation systems of the body. Kidneys are also the source of erythropoietin in the body, a hormone that stimulates the bone marrow to make red blood cells. Special cells in the kidney monitor the oxygen concentration in blood. If oxygen levels fall, erythropoietin levels rise and the body starts to manufacture more red blood cells. After the kidneys filter blood, the urine is excreted through the ureter, a thin tube that connects it to the bladder. It is then stored in the bladder awaiting urination, when the bladder sends the urine out of the body through the urethra. Kidney Disorder Symptoms Kidney disease often proceeds silently over many years, with no signs or symptoms the patient can recognize or with signs that are too general for the patient to suspect kidney trouble. For that reason, routine blood and urine tests are especially important; they detect blood or protein in the urine and abnormal chemical levels in the blood, such as creatinine and blood urea nitrogen (BUN), early signs of kidney disorder and failure. The following problems may, however, be warning signs of kidney disease and should not be ignored. Prompt medical attention is required when any of these conditions are present. 1. Swelling or puffiness, particularly around the eyes or in the face, wrists, abdomen, thighs or ankles 2. Urine that is foamy, bloody, or coffee-colored 3. A decrease in the amount of urine 4. Problems urinating, such as a burning feeling or abnormal discharge during urination, or a change in the frequency of urination, especially at night 5. Mid-back pain (flank), below the ribs, near where the kidneys are located 6. High blood pressure (hypertension) As kidney disease worsens, symptoms may include: 1. Urinating more or less often 35

2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7.

Feeling itchy Tiredness, loss of concentration Loss of appetite, nausea and/or vomiting Swelling and/or numbness in hands and feet Darkened skin Muscle cramps

Causes Of Kidney Disorders The most common causes of kidney disease include diabetes, high blood pressure, and hardening of the arteries (which damages the blood vessels in the kidney). Some kidney diseases are caused by an inflammation of the kidneys, called nephritis. This may be due to an infection or to an autoimmune reaction where the bodys immune or defence system attacks and damages the kidneys. Other kidney diseases, such as polycystic kidney disease are caused by problems with the shape or size of the kidneys (anatomic disorders), while other kidney diseases interfere with the inner workings of the kidneys (metabolic disorders). Most metabolic kidney disorders are rare, since they need to be inherited from both parents. Other common causes of kidney failure include certain medications that can be toxic to kidney tissue, and blockages of the system that drains the kidneys (which can occur with prostate problems). A quick summary of the common causes of kidney failure: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Liver disease is any disturbance of liver function that causes illness. The liver is responsible for many critical functions within the body and should it become diseased or injured, the loss of those functions can cause significant damage to the body. Liver disease is also referred to as ahepatic disease. Liver disease is a broad term that covers all the potential problems that may occur to cause the liver to fail to perform its designated functions. Usually, more than 75% or three quarters of liver tissue needs to be affected before decrease in function occurs. The liver the largest solid organ in the body; and is also considered a gland because among its many functions, it makes and secretes bile. The liver is located in the upper right portion of the abdomen protected by the rib cage. It has two main lobes that are made up of tiny lobules. The liver cells have two different sources of blood supply. The hepatic artery supplies oxygen rich blood that is pumped from the heart, while the portal vein supplies nutrients from the intestine and the spleen. Liver disease is categorized both by the cause and the effect it has on the liver. Causes may include infection, injury, exposure to drugs or toxic compounds, an autoimmune process, or a genetic defect that leads to the deposition and build-up of damaging substances such as iron or copper. Effects may include inflammation, scarring, obstructions, clotting abnormalities, and liver failure. The following table summarizes some types of liver disease. The links lead to more information about the various types. Type of Liver Disease Acute liver failure Description Rapid decrease in liver function Examples of Causes/Conditions Drugs, toxins, a variety of liver diseases

The body produces an inappropriate PBC (Primary biliary cirrhosis), PSC Autoimmuneimmune response against itself; (Primary sclerosing associated sometimes develops antibodies against cholangitis),Autoimmune hepatitis own liver tissue Blood clots impede blood flow from the Budd-Chiari liver; symptoms such as ascites, Hypercoagulable disorders, liver syndrome enlarged liver, jaundice, and abdominal injury, cancer, parasitic infection pain can develop Can be caused by a variety of Scarring of liver tissue leads to conditions but usually a result of Cirrhosis decreased liver function chronic hepatitis, alcoholism, or chronic bile duct obstruction Gene mutations can lead to liver Hemochromatosis, Alpha-1 Genetic damage, disease; relatively rare antitrypsin deficiency, Wilsons conditions disease Hepatitis Acute or chronic liver inflammation Viruses, alcohol abuse, drugs, toxins, 37

autoimmune, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) Infections Certain infections can cause various degrees of liver damage, blockage of bile ducts A cancer that originates in the liver Complete or partial blockage of bile ducts Viral hepatitis, Parasitic infection Increased risk with cirrhosis and chronic hepatitis; hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is most common primary liver tumor Tumors, gallstones, inflammation, trauma

Liver cancer Obstruction of bile ducts

Liver Disease Symptoms Liver disease may not show any symptoms at first, as symptoms can be vague. This includes weakness and loss of energy.Other symptoms include jaundice that is a disease of the gall bladder. Jaundice is one of the main symptoms of liver disease. Jaundice can turn the skin color to yellow. Another symptom is related to digestion and appetite. Poor appetite is a very common symptom. It leads to loss of weight and anemia. Along with this vomiting, nausea or diarrhea can also manifest. Another important symptom is light colored stool. Due to the lack of bile production, the stool will appear light and can be gray colored or pale.Distention and bloating can be considered as another symptoms to watch out for and can cause a pain during breathing.Polyuria or excess urination and polydypsia or excess thirst are the other symptoms typical of the liver disease. Liver cancer has symptoms that include weight loss and loss of appetite. Abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, fatigue, accumulation of fluid in the abdomen, enlarged liver, change of color (yellowing) of the skin and the whites of the eyes are also noticed. Bile duct obstruction has symptoms like pale stools, dark urine, abdominal pain, jaundice, vomiting, nausea and fever. Portal hypertension that is a high blood pressure in the portal veins has no symptoms. But complications due to this disease can result in bloody vomiting and black, loose stools from varices, ascites; and signs of brain disease called encephalopathy. Alcoholic liver disease has symptoms like loss of appetite, nausea, swollen abdomen, jaundice, abdominal pain, ascites, weight gain, mental confusion, excessive thirst, dry mouth and fatigue. Additional symptoms include vomiting blood or black, paleness, lightheadedness or fainting, fluctuating mood and altered level of consciousness. Causes Of Liver Disease Liver disease may occur suddenly or develop slowly over the course of many decades. There are many reasons why you may develop liver disease, including personal habits, chronic illnesses, and exposure to poisons and infectious agents. Consider this information from the Mayo Clinic and the Centers for Disease Control about the causes of liver disease Alcohol If you are a regular, heavy drinker of alcohol, inflammation from drinking can cause you to develop liver disease over a long period of time (see Resources). Bile Duct Disorders 38

Medical conditions such as primary sclerosing cholangitis and primary biliary cirrhosis can damage or destroy your bile ducts and cause liver disease. Blood Disorders Disorders of your blood, such as hemochromatosis, may cause liver disease as a result of a buildup of too much iron in your blood. Cystic Fibrosis Cystic fibrosis is a chronic condition that begins during childhood and can cause liver disease as you get older. Fats Eating too many fatty foods such as meats and oils can cause you to develop liver disease as a result of a buildup of unprocessed fats in your liver. Toxins If your job involves work with toxins such as industrial solvents or petroleum products, you may develop liver disease after many years of exposure. Parasites Exposure to contaminated water may cause you to become infected with parasitic worms called schistosomes, which can cause chronic liver disease. What Is Male Sexual Disorders?

Male sexual dysfunction is a common problem that is experienced by many people all over the world. The sufferer is deprived of enjoying sexual pleasures and even cannot satisfy the sex partner. 39

Men who experience sexual dysfunction may have Erectile Dysfunction, ejaculation disorders and inhibited sexual desire. Erectile Dysfunction is the inability to maintain an erection that is required for sexual intercourse. Ejaculation might not occur at all; in some cases, it can occur before or just after penetration. The other abnormality could be that at orgasm, the ejaculate is pushed back into the bladder instead of coming out of the end of the penis, making its way into the urethra. A sexual problem, or sexual dysfunction, refers to a problem during any phase of the sexual response cycle that prevents the individual or couple from experiencing satisfaction from the sexual activity. The sexual response cycle has four phases: excitement, plateau, orgasm, and resolution. While research suggests that sexual dysfunction is common (43% of women and 31% of men report some degree of difficulty). it is a topic that many people are hesitant to discuss. Fortunately, most cases of sexual dysfunction are treatable, so it is important to share your concerns with our special cell of expert doctors. There are different types of ejaculation disorders, including: 1. Premature ejaculation : This refers to ejaculation that occurs before or soon after penetration. 2. Inhibited or retarded ejaculation : This is when ejaculation is slow to occur. 3. Retrograde ejaculation : This occurs when, at orgasm, the ejaculate is forced back into the bladder rather than through the urethra and out the end of the penis. Causes Of Male Sexual Disorders The sexual response cycle consists of four phases excitement, plateau, orgasm followed by resolution. Having difficulty during any one of these four phases results in male sexual dysfunction. There are many causes for male sexual dysfunction, which includes both physical and psychological factors. Impotence, also referred to as an erectile dysfunction (ED), is the term used to describe men who cannot acquire or maintain an erection during 75 percent of attempts to have sexual intercourse. Men who experience an occasional inability to have an erection and then have no problems later do not have ED. Limited blood flow : Anything that limits blood flow to the penis can cause impotence. The most common conditions that limit blood flow include cigarette smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure, alcoholism, drug abuse, normal aging, and depression. In addition, many commonly prescribed medications can interfere with male sexual function. Psycho logic causes : Depression, performance anxiety, and lack of focus are common causes of psychogenic impotence. 1. Depression Loss of libido and lack of interest in sexual activity are common symptoms of depression. Impotence is, in itself, a depressing experience for any man. Many men choose to accept a decline in sexual function as a natural consequence of aging. Because of shame or embarrassment, they do not discuss this problem with their healthcare provider. This is unfortunate because it is possible 40

to determine the cause(s) of sexual problems, and many options are available to treat erectile dysfunction. 2. Performance anxiety Performance anxiety may develop in men who suddenly experience one or more erectile failures during intercourse. The focus of the sexual act shifts from a sensual experience to one filled with anxiety. During later attempts to have sex, the inability to acquire and maintain an erection becomes the focus of the sexual experience. 3. Lack of sensate focus Lack of sensate focus refers to the decline in the importance of sex. As a man matures, his interests and concerns expand. If, in the midst of sexual intimacy, he finds himself preoccupied with concerns about money or business matters, his mind will drift and he will lose his sexual focus as well as his ability to concentrate on the sensual experience, both of which are needed to maintain an erection. Physical Factors :Ailments like diabetes, neurological disorders, heart and vascular disease, chronic diseases like liver or kidney failure, hormonal imbalances, drug abuse and factors like alcoholism are some common physical factors : Side effects of medicines like that of antidepressants can also adversely affect sexual activity and desire. Cow Urine Therapy And Male Sexual Disorders Cow urine therapy and ayurveda, minerals and their combinations have been traditionally used for treating male sexual disorders like erectile dysfunction, loss of libido, premature ejaculation etc. Below mentioned are some herbs and minerals which have shown to improve sexual health. Researchers in India are suggesting that cow urine can save bees from diseases. And experiments conducted so far are producing very promising results. It increases the core energy responsible for sexual and spiritual power. Cow urine therapy has been used for centuries by Ayurvedic practitioners for renewing vitality and as a rejuvenator. It is a natural herbo-mineral preparation that contains at least 85 minerals in ionic form as well as humic acid and fulvic acid. It is very useful as a sexual tonic in the treatment of sexual disorder. Seeds of drumstick are used for treating erectile dysfunction. Cow urine extract is also a valuable aphrodisiac and beneficial in the treatment of sexual weakness. It has been traditionally used to treat sexual dysfunctions encountered in both men and women such as loss of libido or lack of interest in sex and infertility, prem

What Are Muskuloskeletal Disorders?

MSDS are the disorders that affect the bodys muscle, joints, tendons, ligaments and nerves. The main problems which comes under musculoskeletal disorders are low back pain, joint injuries and repetitive strain injuries of various sorts, dislocation / herniation of discs, inflammation or irritation of joints, tendons or muscles, sciatica / lumbago, torticollis, carpal tunnel syndrome elbow epicondylitis etc. The main problems are described as:

41

ARTHRITIS Arthritis is derived from greak word arthro-joint + itis inflammation. It is a joint disorder that involves inflammation of one or more joints. The main problem with people having arthritis is joint pain. The main diseases which come under arthritis are. A) Osteo arthritis, B) Rheumatoid arthritis, C) Septic arthritis, D) Gout and pseudo arthritis, E) Juvenile idiopathic arthritis, F) Stills disease, G) Ankylosing spondylitis, H) Sarcoidosis, I) Psoriatic arthritis, J) Reactive arthritis etc. A) Osteo Arthritis It affects both the larger and smaller joints of the body including hand, feet, back, hip or knee. Intially the problem starts with minor pain while walking but soon the pain can be continuous and even occur at night. The pain will be debilitating and prevent one from doing some activities. B) Rheumatoid Arthritis It affects joints in fingers, wrists, knees and elbows. In RA there is inflammation in affected joint and it is swollen warm, painful and stiff particularly early in morning, on walking or following prolonged inactivity. C) Septic Arthritis It occurs when joint is infected by bacteria. The main symptoms are joint swelling, intense joint pain and low grade fever, inability to move the limb with the infected joint D) Gout Gout is a condition that occurs when higher than normal level of uric acid gets deposited in joints. It is more common in males, post menopausal women, and people who drink alcohol, people whotake certain medicines such as hydrochlorothiazide and other water pill. In involves big toe, knee or ankle joints mainly. The pain usually starts at night and pain is throbbing, crushing or excruciating, joint appears warm, red and tender. There may be fever E) Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis It is a long term disease resulting in joint pain and swelling in children. It is an autoimmune disease. Symptoms include joint pain, stiffness, limited range of motion, swelling or redness of joint etc. F) Stills disease It is of 2 types, juvenile and adult onset. In children (Juvenile) the symptoms are same as juvenile idiopathic arthritis. In adult onset stills disease the symptoms are high spiking fever, joint and muscle pains, a salmon coloured rash and systemic inflammation. G) Ankylosing Spondylitis It mainly affects joints in the spine and sacroiliac joint In the pelvis and can cause eventual fusion of spine symptoms as chronic pain and stiffness in lower part of entire spine in one or other buttock or back of thigh from the sacroiliac joint. H) Sarcoidosis In this there occurs swelling in lymph nodes, lungs, liver, eyes, skin or other tissues general symptoms are ill feeling, fatigue, fever, weight loss, joint pain dry cough, shortness of breath etc. I) Psoriatic Arthritis In this the arthritis is associated with psoriasis of skin. The symptoms are joint pains, swelling, skin sores and tenderness. 42

J) Reactive Arthritis It is an autoimmune condition that develops in response to an infection in another part of body. Sciatica Sciatica occurs due to compression of one of 5 spinal nerve roots or compression of left or right or both sciatic nerves. The symptoms include pain in the lower back, buttock or various parts of leg and foot. There may be numbness, muscular weakness, pins and needles or tingling and difficulty in moving and controlling the leg. Generally the symptoms first start in one side of body. Pain is severe on prolonged exposure to cold weather. Torticollis The general symptoms of torticollis are limited range of motion of head, headche, head tremor, neckpain, stiffness of neck muscle, swelling of neck muscle. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome This occurs due to pressure on median nervethat supplies the wrist. Symptoms are numbness or tingling in thumb or next 2 or 3 fingers of one or both hand numbness in palm of hand. Pain in wrist, hand, thumb etc. weak grip and weakness in one or both hand. Tennis elbow Tennis elbow is a painful condition of elbow caused by overuse. It occurs due to inflammation or damage of the tendons that join the forearm muscle on the outside of elbow.

Symptoms Of Muskuloskeletal Disorders

1. Pain in wrist. Forearms, elbows, neck or back etc. followed by discomfort. 2. Swelling or stiffness in the joints. 3. Reduced range of motion in affected part. 4. Muscles may feel like they have been pulled or overworked. 5. Sleep disturbances. 6. Numbness or weakness or tingling sensation on affected part. 7. Fatigue and decreased grip strength. 8. Loss of function or reduced function of affected part. Causes Of Muskuloskeletal Disorders The main causes include poor posture, repetitive movements, heavy lifting, forceful exertion, contact stress, vibration, direct mechanical pressure on body tissue, cold work environment, excess of uric acid etc. Ayurveda considers vitiation of doshas to be responsible for MSD, among the three vata pitta kapha dosha vatta is the main, to cause MSD. As per ayurveda vitiation of vata mainly result due to lifting of heavy loads, improper postures of body, taking vata vardhak aahar vihar etc. Ayurved And Muskuloskeletal Disorders As per ayurveda all diseases occur due to aggravation of one or more dosha and in MSD the main dosha that affects is vattta. The dosha may get aggravated due to a number of factors including improper food and life style, smoking, waking up till late nights etc. MSD is described in Ayurveda mainly as Aamvata, vatarakta and Sandhivata. The main symptoms of aamvata are it occurs in all big joints of body. It includes fever, inflammation, heaviness, it is tridoshaj mainly vata and kapha are involved. In vatarakta mainly small 43

joints are involved symptoms along with pain are inflammation, stiffness. It is also tridoshaj but mainly vata and rakta are involved. In sandhivata pain occurs in all the joints along with stiffness. It mainly involves vata dosha. All MSD disorders are described by different Aacharyas of ayurved. The diseases are classified according to their symptoms and treatment in Charak samhita, Sushruta samhita. Astang hridaya, Madhanidan, Sharangdhar Sanhita, Bheshaj Ratnwali etc. ature ejaculation, low sperm counts and erectile dysfunction.

Nasal Disorders
Nose disorders, also called nasal disorders, are the problems that you may experience in your nose due to structural or inflammatory issues. The most common disorders include a deviated septum, rhinitis, nosebleeds, and nasal polyps. Other problems related to the nose may be such issues as a nose fracture; polychondritis, which is a rare disease causing cartilage inflammation; nasal vestibulitis, which is an infection in the nostrils; or cancer. What Are Nasal Disorders Whether its large or small, button-like or beak-like, your nose is important to your health. It filters the air you breathe, removing dust, germs and irritants. It warms and moistens the air to keep your lungs and tubes that lead to them from drying out. Your nose also contains the nerve cells that help your sense of smell. When there is a problem with your nose, your whole body can suffer. For example, the stuffy nose of the common cold can make it hard for you to breathe, sleep or get comfortable. Many problems besides the common cold can affect the nose. They include 1. 2. 3. 4. Deviated septum a shifting of the wall that divides the nasal cavity into halves Nasal polyps soft growths that develop on the lining of your nose or sinuses Nosebleeds Rhinitis inflammation of the nose and sinuses sometimes caused by allergies. The main symptom is a runny nose

Ayurveda And Nasal Diorders Considering the patho-physiology of the disease, it is rational to think whether Ayurveda can offer something in Alzheimers? It is true that the disease was not mentioned in Ayurveda by this name but there many recipes mentioned to treat various kinds of mental, psychological and emotional disorders. While studying the subject, many hidden things came out which are of immense importance in managing Alzheimers disease. Few important references are given below to scientific thinkers. Nasal medication has immediate access to the brain as it bypasses the blood brain barrier. Hence the nasal route would be the best route to treat Alzheimers disease. Ayurveda has mentioned very clearly that nose is the gateway to brain and diseases attributed to Central Nervous System can be successfully treated only with nasal medication. American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) has published a research paper on this concept and the conclusion is In summary, the advantages of intranasal delivery are 44

considerable. It is both rapid and non-invasive. It bypasses the BBB and targets the CNS, reducing systemic exposure and thus systemic side effects. Even for drugs that can cross the BBB, it can reduce systemic side effects by reducing the need for the drug to enter the systemic circulation. It does not require any modification of the therapeutic agent being delivered and should work for a wide range of drugs. Intranasal delivery may facilitate the treatment and prevention of many different neurologic and psychiatric disorders. There are many herbs proven to have phenomenal improvement in the brain at the cellular level. The well known are Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri), Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), Shankhapushpi (Evolvulus alsinoides), Vacha (Acorus calamus), Saffron (Crocus sativus), Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum) etc. Oral medicines find difficulty in reaching the brain as there is a physiological mechanism called Blood Brain Barrier which prohibits the absorption. Therefore it is practical to use these herbs in the form of nasal medication and also should be processed by special method called Sneha Paka Widhi described in Ayurveda. This will bypass the Blood Brain Barrier and allow the active herbal constituents to reach the central nervous system and arrest the progress of Alzheimers eventually. Besides this, the nasal medication also helps to improve vision, arrest hair fall, prevent graying of hair, improve hearing and many other diseases attributed to ENT and supra-clavicular disorders. Like synthetic drugs have side effects, Ayurvedic drugs have side benefits. Unknowingly these formulations impart some added benefits and contribute to positive health achievements. Considering the research in modern era and viewing the verses in Ayurveda it becomes evident that Ancient science has enormous hidden potential. It is rather a golden treasury for human beings but needs to be explored and understood properly. Many times it seems that Ayurveda has given short verse with big meaning which is equivalent to one doctorate in that field. It is just like a question asked and the answer given in Ayurveda, modern research helps to find the various steps involved in getting the answer.

Neurological Disorders
Neurological Diseases are diseases that affect the nervous system, i.e. the brain, spinal cord, nerves and the nerve complexes. Since nerves are essential for every bodily action and functioning of the organs, the smallest of trauma to the nervous system or the onset of any condition that affects the nerves can indirectly initiate Neurological Diseases. Today, more than 600 types of neurologic diseases have been identified. Some of these are common and are found across the globe, across all genders and age-groups, while some are quite rare and are still being understood. Types Of Neurological Disorder A disorder of Nervous system of human body with the symptoms of structural biochemical or electrical abnormalities in the brain spinal cord or periphery. The main causes of neurological disorder include congenital, environmental or injury also may be idiopathic at large. Major neurological disorders are given below:Brain Injury: - Its the destruction or degeneration of brain cells due to illness, injury, hypoxia, poisoning, infections or chemotherapy. Cerebral Palsy: - Basically its a motor condition that causes physical disability in human development. Epilepsy: - A chronic neurological disorder characterized by seizures. It occurs especially in young children or people over the age of 65 years. 45

Alzheimers Disease: - It is a common form of dementia and is diagnosed in people over 65 years of age with the common symptoms of inability to acquire new memories and difficulty in recalling recently observed events. Cerebral Atrophy: - It is the loss of brain tissues and may affect consciousness, thoughts and volunteer process of brain. Diabetic Neuropathy: - A neuropathic disorders associated with diabetes mellitus. It affects all peripheral; pain fibers, motor neurons and autonomic nerves and may cause numbness, tingling, ED, dizziness, fasciculation, burning, diarrhea urinary incontinence etc. muscle weakness, vision changes, speech impairments etc. Syncope or Fainting: - Its the transient loss of consciousness and proceeded by dizziness and loss of vision, nausea and abdominal discomfort, weakness, sweating, a feeling of heat, palpitation etc. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: - An idiopathic median neuropathy at the carpal tunnel and is characterized by intermittent numbness of the thumb, index, long and radial half of the ring finger. Coma: - Its a state of unconsciousness, lasting more than 6 hours, in which a person cant be awakened, fails to respond normally to painful stimuli, light or sound, lacks normal sleep-wake cycle and doesnt initiate voluntary actions. Dyslexia: - A learning disability or reading difficulties result from other causes, such as non-neurological deficiency with vision or hearing or from poor or inadequate reading instructions. Back Pain / Dorsalgia: - It is felt in the back that usually originates from the muscles nerves bones joints or other structures in the spine as regarded having a sudden onset or can be a chronic pain. The pain may radiate into the arms and hands, in the upper back or in the low back and may include symptoms other than pain, such as burning, numbness, weakness or tingling. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: - It is a medical disorder that is defined by persistent fatigue accompanied by other specific symptoms for a minimum of six months, not due to ongoing exertion, not substantially relieved by rest nor caused by other medical conditions main 46

symptoms of CSF are 1. Post exertional malaise, 2. Unfreshing sleep, 3. Wide spread joints & muscle pain, 4. Sore throat, 5. Cognitive difficulties 6. Chronic often sense mental & physical exhaustion and also muscle weakness, depression, cardiac & respiratory problems, digestion problem etc. Encephalitis: - An acute inflammation of the brain. Symptoms include: headache, fever, confusion, drowsiness and fatigue, sometimes seizures, tremors, hallucination and memory loss also. Fibromyalgia: - It is the pain of muscle and connective tissue and also known as a medical disorder characterized by chronic wide spread pain, debilitating fatigue, sleep disturbances and joint stiffness, swallowing difficulties, bowel & bladder abnormalities, numbness and tingling and cognitive dysfunctions. Headache: - A headache or cephalgia is pain anywhere in the region of the head or heck and is caused by disturbances of the pain sensitive structures around the brain. Huntingtons Disease: - Known as a neurodegenerative genetic disorder that effects muscles co-ordination and leads to cognitive decline and dementia. It causes abnormal involuntary writhing movements called chorea. Lumbar Disease: - Its known as drying out of the spongy interior matrix of an intervertebral disc in the spine. Symptomacially lumbar discherniation causes pain, loss of muscle strength and loss of touch sensation. Sciatica pain is most common cause of nerve compression and associated pain. Meningitis: - Simply its the inflammation of the protective covering membrane of the brain, the meninges. Being medical emergency, the most common symptoms of the meningitis are headache, neck stiffness, fever, confusions or altered consciousness, vomiting, photophobia, phonophobia, drowsiness etc. Minieres Disease: - A disorder of internal ear that can affect hearing and balance to a varying degree and symptomatically known with episodes of vertigo, tinnitus and progressive hearing loss. Multiple Sclerosis: - A demyelinating and inflammatory disorder of brain & spinal cords myelin sheath. This disorder brings the symptoms of physical and cognitive disability. Main symptoms are loss of sensitivity, numbness, problems in speech or swallowing visual problems, fatigue, pain and bladder in or bowel difficulties with depression, loose mood temperament etc. Sleep Apnoea: - A sleep disorder characterized by abnormal pause in breathing or low breathing during sleep, breathing is interrupted by a lack of respiratory effort or by a physical block to airflow despite respiratory effort and snoring is common. Myasthenia Gravis: - Its an autoimmune neuromuscular disease leading to fluctuating muscle weakness and fatigue. Main cause of MG is circulating antibodies that block acetylcholine receptors at the post synaptic neuromuscular junctions. Muscular Dystrophy: - This disease refers to a group of hereditary muscle diseases and is characterized by progressive muscle weakness, defects in muscle protein and the death of muscle cells and tissue. Nine diseases including. Duchenne, backers, limbgirdless, congenital, facioscapulo humeral, myotonic, oculopharyngeal, distal and emery-driefuss are always classified as MD. 47

MD is multi system disorder with manifestations in body including the heart, intestine, nervous system, endocrine glands, skin, eyes and brain. Main symptoms of MD are:1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Progressive Muscular weakness. Poor balance & drooping eye lids. Inability to walk and frequent falls. Calf deformation & scoliosis. Gonadal atrophy and loss of bowel control. Respiratory difficulties. Waddling gait.

Migraine: - This disease is typically characterized by moderate to severe headache and Nausea. It remains unilateral or affecting one half of the head and pulsating in nature. Symptoms of migraine include nausea, vomiting, photophobia phonophobia, According to most common therapy migraine is a seratonergic control system disorder of neurovascular system. Parkinsons disease or paralysis Agitans: - A degenerative disorder of the central nervous system. Main symptoms are movement related, including shaking, rigidity, slowness of movement and difficulty with walking and gait, dementia and cognitive behavioral problem may occur on later period. Neurofibromatosis: - It is genetically inherited disorder in which nerve tissue grow tumors causing a benign growth or serious damage by compressing nerves and tissues. Schizophrenia: - A mental disorder characterized by a disintegration of thought process and of emotional responsiveness. It is accompanied by significant social or occupational dysfunctions and its common manifests are hallucinations, delusions, disorganized speech & thinking. Peripheral Neuropathy: - This term is used for damage to nerves of the peripheral nervous system, which may be either caused by diseases of or trauma to the nerve or the side-effects of systemic illness. Symptoms of the disease depend on the type of nerve affected and where nerve is located in the body. Common physical symptoms are muscle weakness, cramps, spasms, tingling, numbness and pain. Some damage in involuntary nerve fibres lead to symptoms such as abnormal blood pressure, excessive perspiration, constipation, bladder incontinence, sexual dysfunctions etc. Storke: - It is a rapidly developing loss of brain functions due to disturbance in the blood supply to the brain. Any type of lack of blood flow caused by blockage or a hemorrhage may produce stroke in the brain. The affected part of brain becomes unable to function and may result in an ability to move one or more limbs on one side of the body, inability to understand or formulate speech or an inability to see one side of the visual field. Trigeminal Neuralgia / Suicide disease: - A neuropathic disorder characterized by intense pain in the face originating from trigeminal nerve. This pain may be felt in the eye, ear, lips, nose, scalp for head cheek, teeth, jaw & side of the face.

Obesity
48

India is one of top ten obese patients in the world today. 120 million urban Indians are obese today. 45% of female population in metros is obese. It is a major problem affecting Indian society. Overweight and obesity are defined by the WHO as abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that presents a risk to an individuals health. Overweight and obesity are major risk factors for a number of chronic diseases, including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and cancer and while it was once an issue only in high income countries, overweight and obesity has now dramatically risen in low- and middleincome countries. Such countries are now facing a double burden of disease, for while they continue to deal with the problems of infectious disease and under-nutrition, they are also experiencing a rapid upsurge in chronic disease risk factors such as obesity and overweight, particularly in urban settings What Is Obesity? Obesity and overweight have in the last decade become a global problem according to the World Health Organization (WHO) back in 2005 approximately 1.6 billion adults over the of age 15+ were overweight, at least 400 million adults were obese and at least 20 million children under the age of 5 years were overweight. Experts believe if the current trends continue by 2015 approximately 2.3 billion adults will be overweight and more than 700 million will be obese. The scale of the obesity problem has a number of serious consequences for individuals and government health systems. Obesity is a concern because of its implications for the health of an individual as it increases the risk of many diseases and health conditions including:1. Coronary heart disease 2. Type 2 diabetes 3. Cancers (endometrial, breast, and colon) 4. Hypertension (high blood pressure) 5. Dyslipidemia (for example, high total cholesterol or high levels of triglycerides) 6. Stroke 7. Liver and Gallbladder disease 8. Sleep apnoea and respiratory problems 9. Osteoarthritis (a degeneration of cartilage and its underlying bone within a joint) 10. Gynecological problems (abnormal menses, infertility). These conditions can cause or contribute to premature death and substantial disability. Less common health conditions associated with increased weight include asthma, hepatic steatosis and sleep apnoea. Obesity Symptoms Patients appearance is sufficient to arrive at a diagnosis in most cases. Obesity is determined based on an individuals body mass index (calculated with reference to the persons height and weight). The following are the most common symptoms that indicate an adolescent is obese. However, the patients appearance is sufficient to arrive at a diagnosis in most cases, determined by the persons BMI (body mass index) depending on weight to height, though each adolescent may experience symptoms differently. Symptoms may include:49

1. Large body frame. 2. Difficulty in doing daily activities. 3. Lethargy 4. Breathlessness 5. Disproportionate facial features 6. Breast region adiposity (sagging fat cells) in boys 7. Big belly (abdomen), sometimes marked with white or purple blemishes 8. Male external genitalia may appear disproportionately small 9. Early arrival of puberty 10. Flabby fat in the upper arms and thighs 11. Knock-knees (Genu valgum) is common The symptoms of obesity may resemble other medical problems or conditions. Psychological disturbances are also very common as well as stress, social pressure and doing developmental chores. Always consult your adolescents doctor for a diagnosis. Causes Of Obesity It is a major health problem affecting globally, and is like an epidemic in 21st century. This is due to bad food habits like eating high caloric junk food, leading a sedentary life style. This has a net caloric gain effect and accumulation of body fat ultimately causing obesity. Obesity is caused by many factors. A persons weight is determined by a combination of genes , metabolism , behavior, culture, and environment . Genes and metabolism may help explain about 25 to 40 percent of body weight. However, a persons environment overwhelms the minor influences of biology. While genes may increase ones risk for obesity, they do not by themselves cause obesity. Genes certainly cant explain the rapidly increasing prevalence of obesity around the world. For most people, obesity results from eating too much and not being active enough. The overwhelming factors responsible for obesity are environmental. Modern Western society encourages poor diets and lack of exercise. For example, portion sizes continue to increase. Americans were eating about 200 more calories per day in 2003 than they were in 1993. Fast-food restaurants encourage customers to super size and purchase value meals. Many target children, using well-known movie stars and cartoon characters in their advertising. Further, people eat out more often than in the past and many restaurants offer huge portion sizes. Americans seem determined to get as much food as they can for their money. Television contributes to obesity through commercials urging people to buy food of low nutritional value, and by encouraging sedentary behavior. Many people tend to snack while watching television. Americans simply dont get enough physical activity. Less than onethird of American adults report that they do at least thirty minutes of brisk walking or other moderate activity on most days of the week, and almost half do no leisure-time activity at all. Almost half of U.S. high school students watch television more than two hours every day. This lack of physical activity is contributing to the increases in obesity and to other health-related conditions. Obesity is a result, when intake of food is in excess of physiological needs like consuming foods of high caloric density, extra responsiveness, eating habits, elderly, physical inactivity and injury or illness etc. Environmental factors like lack of awareness about caloric value of foods and hazards of excessive consumption of high calorie foods and lack of access to safe places to play and exercise, all contribute to the increase in obesity rates by inhibiting or preventing healthy eating and active living behaviors. 50

Causes of overweight and obesity include, for example: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Taking in more calories than one uses Oversized food portions Lack of access to healthy foods Lack of physical activity Genes and family history Hormonal imbalance, medications, pregnancy, emotional factors

Cow Urine Therapy And Obesity The healing properties of cows urine are also mentioned in ancient Hindu texts. The research conducted by doctors at the cow-protection commission indicates that the urine can cure obesity. The urine of Indian Cows has Immuno-modulatory properties, and hence has been advised as a prophylactic agent for allergies and infections. Recent studies show that it has anti-obesity value also, as taking cow urine therapy modifies the bodys internal Metabolism and sets it at a level which is conducive to keeping ones weight at the desired level. According to research, cow urine contains numerous vitamins often found in many major weight loss drug treatments, including vitamins A, B, D, E, and minerals like creatinine and gold. Enzymes critical to digestion are also found in cow urine, which is the active agent that assists in the weight loss process. According to a recent study published in the African Journal of Biomedical Research, lab rats who were administered a solution consisting of cow urine and vitamins presented a decreased appetite mere day after the initial dosage due to lower secretion in the pyloric gland. After numerous scientific studies, researchers propose that diseases ranging from diabetes to obesity can be treated successfully no side effects after consuming a cow urine with herbal extract. When combined with hormones and additional vitamins found in everyday foods, cow urine assist in weight loss

Respiratory Disorder
Respiratory Disorders refers to airways (breathing tubes) that are chronically sensitive and inflamed. Inflammation (redness and swelling) is the basis and this result in airways that are hypersensitive to trigger factors such as dusts, smog, the haze, certain foods (particularly the preservatives and artificial colorings used in food preparations), some pets etc. When the airways react with these trigger factors, they can result in Respiratory disorders symptoms, which can be sometimes dramatic and severe. It is important to understand that Respiratory Disorders is usually part of a spectrum of clinical disorders which is commonly termed Atopic Tendencies. Besides sensitive lower airways, many patients would suffer from sensitive upper airways (Allergic Rhinitis), skin (Atopic Dermatitis), eyes (Allergic Conjunctivitis) too. In the US, approximately 1 billion common colds occur each year. In UK approximately 1 in 7 individuals are affected by some form of chronic lung disease, most commonly chronic obstructive pulmonary disease which includes asthma, chronic bronchitis and emphysema asthma affects 25-30 million in India alone as per WHO report. What Is Respiratory Disorders ? 51

Respiratory Disorders is a chronic disease that affects your airways. Your airways are tubes that carry air in and out of your lungs. If you have Respiratory Disorders, the inside walls of your airways become sore and swollen. People who have Respiratory Disorders have inflamed airways. Respiratory diseases can be classified in different ways, including the organ or tissue involved, by the type and pattern of associated signs and symptoms or by the cause of the disease. Inflammatory lung disease The diseases which comes under this are asthma, cystic fibrosis, emphysema, chronic pulmonary disorder or acute respiratory distress syndrome. Obstructive lung disease These occur where the airways (bronchi, bronchioles alveoli) become reduced in volume making it difficult to move air in and out of cell. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease In this the airways become damaged, causing them to narrow. Restrictive lung diseases or interstitial lung disease Caused due to incomplete lung expansion and increased lung stiffness e.g., infant respiratory distress syndrome. Respiratory Tract Infection They are divided into two upper respiratory tract infection and lower respiratory tract infection. Upper respiratory Tract Infection The main infection that comes under this are common cold, sinusitis, tonsillitis, otitis media, pharyngitis and laryngitis etc. Lower Respiratory Tract Infection The most common lower respiratory tract infection is pneumonia. Respiratory Tumors Tumors of respiratory system are either benign or malignant. Pleural Cavity Diseases The main disease under this are emphysema, mesothelioma, pleural effusion and pneumothorax. Pulmonary Vascular Diseases Pulmonary embolism, pulmonary arterial hypertension, pulmonary oedema comes under this. Respiratory Disorders Symptoms During an attack, the commonest symptoms are that of cough associated with a sensation of difficulty in breathing (dyspnoea). The cough is sometimes the only presenting symptom, and is usually worse in the night or early mornings. Coughs can be productive of thick sticky phlegm. However, many times, the cough is non-productive. 52

The sensation of dyspnoea is usually described as chest tightness, and can be rather dramatic. Some sufferers had akin the sensation to taking each breath through a straw. The sufferer can be very anxious at this stage and panic. Sometimes, they hyperventilate during this time. Dyspnoea is usually less pronounced when the sufferer stand or sit. It is more pronounced when he lies down. Respiratory Disorders symptoms vary from person to person. Someone may have all the symptoms while another may have only coughing or wheezing. Do keep a close watch on your symptoms and discuss with our expert doctor now to help diagnose your condition correctly. And remember that with the Jains Cow Urine Therapy treatment you can control your Respiratory Disorders symptoms. Common Respiratory Disorders symptoms include: 1. Itchy watery eyes, soreness behind eyes, sometimes conjunctivitis. 2. Nasal discharge or nasal congestion. 3. Sneezing mainly in morning hours. 4. Sorethroat cough dyspnoea. 5. Breathlessness on mild exertion or shortness of breath. 6. Headache or heaviness over head. 7. Fever or feverish feeling. 8. Malaise fatigue, weakness. 9. Pain in muscles. 10. Wheezing sound during breathe. Not all people who have Respiratory Disorders have these symptoms. Likewise, having these symptoms doesnt always mean that you have Respiratory Disorders. A lung function test, done along with a medical history (including type and frequency of your symptoms) and physical exam, is the best way to diagnose Respiratory Disorders for certain. The types of Respiratory Disorders symptoms you have, how often they occur, and how severe they are may vary over time. Sometimes your symptoms may just annoy you. Other times they may be troublesome enough to limit your daily routine. Severe symptoms can threaten your life. Its vital to treat symptoms when you first notice them so they dont become severe. With proper treatment, most people who have Respiratory Disorders can expect to have few, if any, symptoms either during the day or at night. What Causes Respiratory Disorders Symptoms To Occur? The condition of Respiratory Disorders is basically an interaction of constitutionally sensitive airways with the environment. It is therefore important to understand that trigger factors precipitate attacks of Respiratory Disorders, but is not causative. Many things and circumstances in the sufferers environment can thus be trigger factors. Common trigger factors include dusts, house dust mites in bedding and draperies, pollution, strong odors/sprays, pests/insects such as cockroaches, animal dander, tobacco smoke, pollens, viral and bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, certain medicines and even exercise. A number of things can bring about or worsen Respiratory Disorders symptoms. Your doctor will help you find out which things (sometimes called triggers) may cause your Respiratory Disorders to flare up if you come in contact with them. Triggers may include: 53

Allergens found in dust, animal fur, cockroaches, mold, and pollens from trees, grasses, and flowers Irritants such as cigarette smoke, air pollution, chemicals or dust in the workplace, compounds in home dcor products, and sprays (such as hairspray) Certain medicines such as aspirin or other no steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and nonselective betablockers Sulfites in foods and drinks Viral upper respiratory infections such as colds Exercise (physical activity) Other health conditionssuch as runny nose, sinus infections, reflux disease, psychological stress, and sleep apneacan make Respiratory Disorders more difficult to manage. These conditions need treatment as part of an overall Respiratory Disorders care plan.Respiratory Disorders is different for each person. Some of the factors listed may not affect you. Other factors that do affect you may not be on the list. Talk to your doctor about the things that seem to make your Respiratory Disorders worse. Keep stuffed animals and toys out of your bed. 6. Wash stuffed animals and toys regularly in water hotter than 130F. 7. Reduce room humidity to less than 50 percent by using a dehumidifier.

Pets

Some people are allergic to the dander (the flakes of skin) or dried saliva that come from animals with fur or feathers. If your symptoms get worse around pets, try the following tips: 1. If you cannot keep pets out of your home, which can be hard to do, keep your pet out of your bedroom by keeping your bedroom door closed. 54

2. Place filters on the air vents in your bedroom. 3. Remove carpets and furniture covered with cloth from your home. 4. If you cant remove carpets and cloth-covered furniture, keep your pets out of the rooms where these are located.

Cockroaches

Many people with Respiratory Disorders are allergic to the dried droppings and remains of cockroaches. 1. 2. 3. 4. Keep all food out of your bedroom. Keep food and garbage in closed containers (never leave food out). Use bait or traps to eliminate cockroaches. If a spray is used to kill roaches, stay out of the room until the odor goes away.

Fix leaky faucets, pipes, and other sources of water. Clean mold off of surfaces with a cleaner that has bleach in it. Replace or wash moldy shower curtains. Reduce room humidity to less than 50 percent.

Strong Odors, Sprays, And Wood Smoke

If you have Respiratory Disorders, you may be very sensitive to strong odors or chemicals in the air. 1. If possible, do not use a wood-burning stove, kerosene heater, or fireplace. 2. Try to stay away from strong odors and sprays, such as perfume, talcum powder, hair spray, and paints. 3. Ask your family members to limit their use of perfumed products.

Pollen Or Outdoor Mold

Allergy season can be hard if you have Respiratory Disorders and allergies. During your allergy season, you should: 1. Try to keep your windows closed. 2. Stay indoors with your windows closed during the late morning and afternoon hours, if possible, because pollen and some mold spore counts are highest at that time. 3. Ask your doctor if you need to adjust your current Respiratory Disorders treatment regimen before your allergy season starts.

Exercise 55

If you can prevent most Respiratory Disorders symptoms, you can still be active and participate in sports or other athletic activities. 1. Warm up for about 6 to 10 minutes before you exercise by stretching or walking. 2. Cool down afterward. 3. Pace yourself and dont do too much. 4. Make sure to take any prescribed medication according to instructions from your doctor. 1.

Colds And Infections

If colds and infections trigger your Respiratory Disorders, try the following: 1. Talk with your healthcare professional about developing a treatment plan to follow when you start feeling sick. 2. Get a flu shot every year. 3. Get plenty of rest, eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, and drink plenty of fluids. 4. Avoid contact with others who have colds or the flu. Weather

If you are sensitive to very cold or very hot temperatures, try the following: Cover your nose and mouth with a scarf while outdoors on cold, wintry days.

If warm weather irritates you, try to avoid other triggers during very hot days, such as high pollen or mold counts. Use the air conditioner during those days rather than opening windows.

Throat Disorders There is a wide range of different conditions that can affect your throat, or pharynx, and these are called throat disorders. These disorders can occur from a wide range of causes and vary in severity, but the most common throat disorder is a sore throat resulting from a viral infection. Bacterial infections, especially strep throat, are also common. Gastric reflux and allergies can cause throat problems. There are also cancers that affect the throat, the most frequently occurring of which is squamous cell carcinoma. What Are Throat Disorders? Your throat is a tube that carries food to your esophagus and air to your windpipe and larynx. The technical name for throat is pharynx. Throat problems are common. Youve probably had a sore throat The cause is usually a viral infection, but other causes include allergies, infection with strep bacteria or the upward movement of stomach acids into the esophagus, called gastric reflux. Other problems that affect the throat include Tonsillitis an infection in the tonsils Pharyngitis inflammation of the pharynx Cancers Most throat problems are minor and go away on their own. Treatments, when needed, depend on the problem. Symptoms And Causes Of Throat Disorders Symptoms Symptoms of the throat, or pharynx, include a variety of abnormal or unusual sensations or problems of the throat. 60

Throat symptoms can vary greatly in character and severity depending on the underlying disease, disorder or condition. Common throat symptoms include: Change in voice, such as muffled or altered speech or hoarseness Dry throat Feelings of itchiness or tickling in the throat Phlegm or mucus buildup due to postnasal drip, infection, or inflammation Sore throat Swallowing problems, such as difficulty swallowing (dysphagia) or painful swallowing (odynophagia) Swollen tonsils Throat lumps or growths Throat pain White patches on the tonsils and throat Causes Throat symptoms may be caused by a wide array of conditions, including infectious diseases, allergies, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), in which stomach acid backs up into the esophagus. Certain types of head and neck cancers may also cause throat symptoms that include difficulty swallowing, sore throat, and the development of throat growths or sores.

Thyroid
The thyroid gland is located on the front part of the neck below the thyroid cartilage (Adams apple). The gland produces thyroid hormones, which regulate body metabolism. Thyroid hormones are important in regulating body energy, the bodys use of other hormones and vitamins, and the growth and maturation of body tissues. Diseases of the thyroid gland can result in either production of too much (overactive thyroid disease or hyperthyroidism), too little (underactive thyroid disease or hypothyroidism) thyroid hormone, thyroid nodules, and/or goiter. All types of thyroid problems in women are much more common than thyroid problems in men. What Is Thyoid? The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland located in the front of the neck. Inside the thyroid gland are millions of follicles. These follicles produce hormones which are used by every cell of the body. Production of thyroid hormones: The process of hormone synthesis begins in a part of the brain called the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus releases thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH). The TRH travels through the venous plexus located in the pituitary stalk to the pituitary gland, also in the brain. In response, the pituitary gland then releases thyroidstimulating hormone (TSH) into the blood. The TSH travels to the thyroid gland and stimulates the thyroid to produce the two thyroid hormones, L-thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). The thyroid gland also needs adequate amounts of dietary iodine to be able to produce T4 and T3. Regulation of thyroid hormone production: To prevent the overproduction or underproduction of thyroid hormones, the pituitary gland can sense how much hormone is in the blood and adjust the production of hormones accordingly. For example, when there is too much thyroid hormone in the blood, TRH and TSH production are both decreased. The sum effect of this is to decrease the amount of TSH released from the pituitary gland and to reduce production of thyroid hormones from the thyroid gland to restore the amount of thyroid hormone in the blood to normal. Defects in these regulatory pathways may result in 61

hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid problem) or hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid problem). Thyroid goiter: Thyroid goiter is any enlargement of the thyroid that can occur with hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism but also with benign and malignant (cancerous) nodules. Worldwide, the most common cause of goiter is iodine deficiency. Although it used to be very common in the U.S., it is now less common with the use of iodized salt. Multiple nodules in the thyroid are very common, but only about 5% of the nodules are a thyroid cancer. Thyroid cancer is diagnosed after a thyroid ultrasound exam and a needle aspiration biopsy of the nodule. Symptoms And Causes Of Thyroid Symptoms of Thyroid Problems Symptoms of thyroid problems depends on the age of the person and the exact problem with the thyroid. For example, some symptoms of hypothyroidism in children include: Symptoms similar to adult symptoms 1. Excessive fatigue 2. Poor growth 3. Poor school performance Symptoms of hypothyroidism in adults include: 1. 2. 3. 4. Easy fatigue, exhaustion Poor tolerance to cold temperatures Constipation Carpal tunnel syndrome (pain at the wrists and numbness of the hands)

Symptoms of hyperthyroidism in adults include: 1. Insomnia 2. Hand tremors 3. Nervousness Causes for Thyroid First, is Poor nutrition. Some studies have shown that people who develop thyroid problem, most notably hypothyroidism, suffer from iodine deficiencies. Since iodine is a trace mineral found in food that combines with tyrosine to make both T3 and T4, both of the hormones produced in the thyroid, a lack of it can lead to under- production of thyroid hormones. There is information out there that says that certain foods can interfere with the production of thyroid harmones. These include: soy, millet, or cassava. If a person eats too much of these, he or she can throw their thyroid off. Other studies find that deficiencies in Vitamin A, magnesium and iron can also cause the thyoid to malfunction. The second factor is Stress. When a person is under stress, certain harmones are released in the body, such as cortisol. Chronic stress can cause hormone disturbances and hormonal deficiencies which affect the endocrine system, and the thyroid. Third is Genetics. Like most conditions, if a member of your family has struggled with the condition, then you will too. 62

Ayurveda And Thyroid Ayurveda is based on the doctrine that certain substances of vegetable, animal and mineral origin have curative values. These medicinal values have been well documented by various writers and compilers of Ayurvedic literature who observed and experimented with herbs, minerals, metals, animal parts, cooked food articles, natural foods and fruits. The details of these substances are given according to their nature, effects, and curative properties. Thyroid disease is mentioned in detail by Charaka, one of the writers of the Ayurvedicmateria medica. There is a mention that milk, barley, green grams, Bengal grams, sugarcane juice, cucumber and milk products are good for thyroid health. Sour products, on the other hand, aggravate thyroid conditions like hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism is a condition where the thyroid gland does not produce the level of hormones that are required for the proper functioning of bodily organs. In other thyroid conditions, the gland may produce more hormones or may be inflamed or enlarged. Each of these conditions manifests in a wide variety of symptoms. The thyroid hormones are essential for metabolism, and like all other hormones, thyroid hormones must also be produced and released in definite quantities. Their excess or deficiency has a detrimental affect on various organs and their functioning. The Ayurvedic cure for specific thyroid problems involves the use of a potent herb, Kaanchanara (Bauhinia veriegata). Another herb of the genus of East Indian and African trees that yields balsamic products known as Guggulu ( Commiphora mukul ) is widely used for addressing symptoms of thyroid problems like weight gain. Among other herbs, jatamansi, shilajita (purified asphaltum), gokshura andpunarnava are also used for their curative properties and the management of symptoms associated with thyroid malfunctioning.

Urinary Disorders
The organs, tubes, muscles, and nerves that work together to create, store, and carry urine are the urinary system. The urinary system includes two kidneys, two ureters, the bladder, two sphincter muscles, and the urethra. Our body takes nutrients from food and uses them to maintain all bodily functions including energy and self-repair. After your body has taken what it needs from the food, waste products are left behind in the blood and in the bowel. The urinary system works with the lungs, skin, and intestines-all of which also excrete wastes-to keep the chemicals and water in your body balanced. Adults eliminate about a quart and a half of urine each day. The amount depends on many factors, especially the amounts of fluid and food a person consumes and how much fluid is lost through sweat and breathing. Certain types of medications can also affect the amount of urine eliminated.

What are Urinary Disorders? The urinary tract consists of the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra.
