ENERGY RENEWABLE SOURCES OF PAKISTAN

ENERGY SOURCES: An energy source is a system which makes energy in a certain way, for example a hydro-electric station. A hydro-electric station uses the current water of the river for the making of electricity. We use many different energy sources.

HYDAL POWER NATURAL GAS PETROLEUM COAL ATOMIC

Energy sources are classified into following two groups.

NON RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES

NON RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES: COAL NATURAL GAS PETROLEUM PROPANE URANIUM 235

RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES: SOLAR WIND BIOMASS HYDRO POWER

GEO THERMAL

COMPANIES: Companies which are working in Pakistan on projects based upon Energy renewable projects are listed below with brief history profile with achievements and current and future projects. PAKISTAN COUNCIL OF RENEWABLE ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES (PCRET) It was established by merging the National Institute of Silicon Technology (NIST) and the Pakistan Council for Appropriate Technologies (PCAT) on May 8, 2001. It is the prime institution in the country for coordinating R&D and promotional activities in different renewable energy technologies.

COMPLETED PROJECTS:
Development of Rural Areas through promotion of Biogas Tech. for production of Bio-Fertilizer and Bio-fuel (Inclusive of Manpower Training) Pilot Scale Production of Solar Cells and Modules. Electrification of Remote Villages of Hilly Areas of NWFP, FATA and Northern Areas through installation of 70 Microhydal Plants. Rural Electrification using Solar Energy. Development of Low Power High Intensity Solar Lights.

ON GOING PROJECTS:
Up gradation of facilities to produce Silicon Solar Modules up to 80kW annual capacity (revised on 2009). Feasibility Survey for Establishing of High Purity Pilot/Industrial Scale Silicon Production Plant in Pakistan. Up gradation and Extension of PCRET Facilities at Islamabad Centre. Development and Promotion of Biogas Technology for meeting domestic fuel needs of rural area and production of Bio-fertilizer. Provision of Electricity to Earthquake Effected Areas through Installation of 100 Micro Hydro Power Plants.

FUTURE VISION:
Pakistan Council of Renewable Energy Technologies is committed to research, develop, promote, disseminate, impart training provide energy services to the people living in remote areas, and create Renewable Energy culture in the country. HAL CROW (CH2M HILL COMPANY) On 10 November 2011 Hal crow was acquired by CH2M HILL the global full service consulting, design, construction and operations firm. With almost 30,000 employees, our combined firms strengthen our leadership in water, environmental, transportation, and other markets.

PROJECTS:
Gharo Wind Corridor Pakistan. Karachi Waterfront Development.

Other projects

Bay of Naples, Italy: reconstruction of reinforced concrete pier - 1905 Christmas Island, Indian Ocean: steel viaduct and pier - 1910 Beyt and Velan Harbor , India - 1921 Port of Beira, Mozambique - 1927 to 1946

The hydroelectric project on the River Caroni, Venezuela, completed in 1959 The Port of Tema in Ghana, opened in 1962, it was Africas largest manmade harbor Port of Benghazi, Libya - 1961 Al Maktoum Road Bridge, Dubai - 1963 The Orange-Fish Tunnel in South Africa: at 83KM it was the longest water carrying tunnel in the world - commenced 1965 The Accra Tema Toll Motorway in Ghana opened in 1965.

VISION:
We take a broad view of corporate responsibility and embrace a range of activities, from small, one-off events inspired by individual employees to large, sustained activities, such as those run by the Hal crow Foundation. We aim to develop a program which goes beyond individual projects and acts of giving to longer-term involvement with communities. We feel that depth of relationship has more substance and meaning for everyone concerned and ultimately leads to greater benefit. ALTERNATE ENERGY DEVELOPING BOARD (AEDB) AEDB was founded in 2003 to supply wind, solar and mini small projects of hydro power to generate electricity to remote areas of Pakistan. AEDB is also responsible for research and development cell in Pakistan. AEDB has mobilized different sources of funds from international donor organizations like ADB, GEF, USAID, UND for the promotion and execution of alternative energy renewable resources projects in Pakistan.

PROJECTS:
Design and development of 100 MW wind farm at Gharo Kati Bandar, Sindh. Electrication of 800 remote area villages through renewable energy technologies.

Indigenous development of wind turbines. Indigenous development of solar PV panels. Establishment of solar thermal power plants in the country.

VISION:
Changes in life pattern and growing urbanization have increased generation of waste material manifold, causing potential threat to the enviro nment. The vision to utilize the BM/WTE potential for electricity generation, has entrusted Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB) to facilitate pub lic and private sector organizations to set up BM/WTE projects in Pakistan through one window facility / operation. Created for development of, AEDB has devised a national strategy in for utilization of BM/WTE potential in the country, which is being implemented with the support of provincial, state.
