Al Salam Alaykum Parents,

My name is Haneen Jarrar, and I will be your childs Language Arts teacher for the 2012-2013 school year. This is my first year teaching at Al Huda Islamic School, and I am extremely excited to be working within such a close and supportive Islamic community. I will start out by telling you a little about my educational background. This past May I graduated from the University of Texas in Arlington with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Middle-level Education, to teach English and Social Studies to 4-8th grade. I also possess a middle school Multiple Subject credential and am therefore qualified to teach Math and Science to the 4-8th grades as well. The educational preparatory program I graduated from was recently named the Top Mid-Level Education Program in the Nation by AMLE (Association of Middle Level Educators), and I took part in an innovative full year of student teaching in Mansfield, Texas. It is also worth mentioning that I am experienced in working within an Arabic/Islamic school atmosphere, as I taught for two years at the English School Fahaheel in Fahaheel, Kuwait from 2007-2009. Now that you are familiar with my teaching qualifications, I want you to understand that aside from everything mentioned above, I possess a pure passion for education, more specifically, education in the middle school level. It has been my sense of duty to familiarize myself with the development, learning styles, and emotional attributes of adolescents, so that I may best meet their learning needs while helping them become dependable, confident, and independent thinkers who will leave a positive mark on their community. My goal as an educator is to not only help your student become successful in middle school, but to best prepare them and ensure their place on the flourishing path to college. It is vital that you keep these goals in mind throughout the year as you remember that I have your childs best interest in mind at all times. I want them to go on from Al Huda to represent themselves and the Islamic Community in the most educated and conscientious way possible. In order for your child to be successful, you and I must consistently be on the same page and cooperate with one another. The parent-teacher relationship is crucial to student achievement, and it is for this reason that I ask you to email me with any questions, comments, or concerns at anytime, while also staying updated with the latest class happening by visiting my blog at http://mrsjarrar.edublogs.org/.

Lets make this a fun, fantastic, and fundamental school year!

Sincerely,

Haneen Jarrar
