Teaching Strategies:
Students in small group will find words to relate to their key vocabulary words as the teacher monitors for any mistakes and assist if they are struggling.

Warm Up Activity: -Will introduce the topic of our lesson which is on volcanoes. -Go over the key words that we will be working on through read alouds. -Read the words as a group to ensure they are pronounced correctly.
-After going over the key words, will read the paragraph each key word is in including its definition, so students are aware of its meaning in order to complete the word chain strategy.

Lesson Sequence:
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. With the key vocabulary, we will use the word chain strategy. I will choose the first word to demonstrate how this strategy works. The first word I will use is Volcanoes, it will be written down on a link. Next, I will write two more words that relate to volcanoes on additional links, and then connect them together. This will be a model explaining how they will create their word chains. Each student will be given a word and they are to create 2-3 words. They will write their word down on a link of paper and write the other words that relate to their word on additional links of paper. Students may refer to the text for additional help on what type of words to use. I will assist students if they are struggling with finding words to relate to theirs. Students may draw a picture to go along each of their words.
