Who We Are
We are a community of friends hoping to live out our lives in the loving fashion towards which Jesus guides us. We do not claim perfection, merely forgiveness. We do not think we have arrived, merely that we are sharing the journey. We do not think we have completed our task, merely that we are learning to work, live, and play together as a family embracing the full spectrum of ethnicity, age, gender, family status, sexual orientation, heritage, physical ability, economic status, and religious background. To all who worship God in peace and fellowship, to all who want to find an inclusive community that expresses love for humankind, welcome to St. Johns.

Hanging of the Greens

Passed on from our English traditions is the pattern of decorating a worship sanctuary with evergreens and candles and garlands and wreathes and Christmas trees and lights. Our worship for the First Sunday of Advent (next Sunday, December 2) will feature the Hanging of the Greens. Symbolically, we will decorate our Sanctuary for Advent and Christmas during worship, but we will need lots of help after worship to really make our sanctuary sparkle. Please plan to stay for a while next Sunday to help all of us get our house in order for the coming of the Christ Child. A few folks might be needed to help on Saturday afternoon to gather all the accouterments of our Christmas decorations from our church attic (from the garage and the balcony storage area). Let Pastor Glenn know if you are able and willing to assist next Saturday and/or stay around a while on Sunday afternoon. Worship Matters

The Reign of God Sunday

Mass of Creation The Great Thanksgiving

May the Rock of our lives be with you! And also with you! People of God, open your hearts to the One who loves us. We will not turn away from the God of grace. Children of God, lift your voices in thanksgiving to the One who has freed us from sin. Our souls rejoice in the One who is, who was, who is to come. Then you sent Jesus to us, the One who loves us and frees us from our bondage. Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power, God of might, heaven and earth are filled with your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest! Remembering all the hardships he endured, praising you for the gift of new life in the resurrection, we tell of that mystery we call faith: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again! And when the time comes and Christ reigns forever, over sin, over death, over all creation, we will gather at the feast you have prepared for us, our hearts overflowing with joy as we sing your praises forever and ever, God in Community, Holy in One. Amen, amen, amen! Amen, amen, amen!

LISTENING, LEARNING, LOVING

Reading from our Sacred Texts John 18:33-37 Message Prayer of Confession (inspired by John 18:33-37) Almighty God, you alone are the King of all creation. Yet, we confess that we act as though we are the ones who rule the world. Forgive us, Lord. Help us to recognize your reign, that we may be faithful followers in your kingdom.
