MONSIGNOR MISSIMI CELEBRATES 50 YEARS AS A PRIEST

Parishioners are invited to join Monsignor Missimi at a special Mass of Thanksgiving, Sunday, December 16 at 2:00p, at Our Lady of Victory, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the Catholic priesthood. Monsignor Missimi was ordained to the priesthood December 22, 1962. His first assignment in the diocese was as assistant pastor at Saint Augustine Church, Columbus in 1963. Also in that year, he began his long relationship with Catholic education in the Diocese, serving as an instructor at Saint Francis DeSales High School. In 1967 he was named Diocesan Director for Religious Education, a post he held until 1974. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing the training of religion teachers in Catholic Schools and teachers of Catholic children in secular schools, emphasizing the implementation of the changes brought about Vatican II. He later served as a member of the diocesan Board Of Consultors from 1975 to 1977. He served as pastor of Holy Spirit Church, Columbus, from 1974 to 1982; pastor of Saint Mary Church, Groveport, from 1982 to 1991; and pastor of Immaculate Conception Church, Columbus, from 1991 until 2008. It was then that he retired from active priestly ministry and came to serve at Our Lady of Victory as weekend assistant. He also assists in other parishes as needed. During his tenure, he has also served as senator-vicar for the East Columbus Vicariate, Diocesan Vicar for Religious, and pro-synodal examiner and pro-synodal parochial consultor. In 1995, the Holy Father John Paull II elevated him the rank of Monsignor. We are grateful for Monsignor Missimis years of service to the Church and the diocese of Columbus. Congratulations Monsignor Missimi! Blessings to you as you continue in your priestly ministry.

INTERNATIONAL SINGING STAR, TATIANA (TAJCI) TO PERFORM AT ST. PATRICK CHURCH, COLUMBUS: Shocking her country and peers, Tajci left her pop stardom, glamour, fame, friends and family to come to the United States, alone and unknown at age 21. She came to America to be free of her celebrity, and to find herself. For a while, she fled her image and changed her name. While living in New York, she did menial jobs, studied musical theater and learned to speak English fluently. In her newfound anonymity, Tajci found her answers. Today, Tajci is once again a world renowned musician, a Christian singer/songwriter who performs throughout the United States and Europe filling stadiums, concert halls and churches as she sings about her faith journey. On Thursday, December 6 @7:00p, Tajci will perform EMMANUEL The Story of Christmas. Tatiana Cameron Tajci, in collaboration with Los Angeles based producer Denny Bouchard, adopted and arranged a wide array of musical styles, traditions and ethnic origins into a mesmerizing musical piece. This concert event is a true celebration of Christmas with laughter, joy, sorrow, hope, tears, family, and faith. The concert will be free for all those who attend. A good will donation basket will be passed to support Tajci and her mission.
