1. Demonstrate the skills to audition effectively for a specific music role and identify strengths and areas for development. This task covers part of Unit 365 Auditioning for Music.

Assignment You have been invited to audition for a top London House band; potentially guaranteeing you paid work Monday to Thursday evenings. The band is made up of well respected musicians therefore it is hugely important that you prepare fully for anything they might ask you to play. Also be aware of your soft skills; make sure you make an excellent first impression and dress appropriately. For the audition you have been asked to prepare 2 pieces that you feel suitably show off your ability to get the gig. You may also be asked to improvise something on the spot so make sure you are on top of your improvisation skills!

Tasks / Evidence / Submission Date Task 3: For the audition you will prepare 2 pieces, which can either be performed solo or with a backing track. Ensure that the pieces you choose show off your individual strengths as a musician. Be aware you may also be asked to improvise something on the spot. This may involve soloing over a track you have only just heard. During the audition you will consider the following: a). Personal Appearance b). The first impression you make c). Your attitude d). Your equipment (make sure it all works/is in tune)! You will be marked on the above points as well as your technical skill and expression when performing.
