Supply vessels carrying Cargo Oil

When a Supply Vessels is carrying oil as Cargo then it is mandatory to account for it in an Oil Record Book Part 2 (cargo). There are ownership issues with the oil (traditionally bunkers belong to the ship, cargo belongs to charterers) therefore whether you load it as bunkers or cargo is up to you. What is important to remember is not where the oil is in the ship but where it is in the books. It is perfectly possible to load 100 Tons of Cargo & 100T of FO in the same tank and record it in 2 different books. If it is decided to re-designate some cargo to bunkers or visa versa then this may be just transferred from one book to the other.

If you loaded 200m3 your Fuel Oil as bunkers it would go in Part 1

Date dd-mmm-yyyy hh:mm Code H Item No. 26.1 26.2 26.3 Record of operation and signature of officer in charge Rotterdam dd-mm-yyyy from hh:mm to hh:mm 200 MT of ISO-RMH35 HFO bunkered in tanks: 200 MT added to DB4(S) now containing 250 MT signed: 3.eng Jane Doe dd-mmm-yyyy

If you then decide that you want to deliver 180m3 to a Rig you have to first transfer the oil from Part 1 to Part 2
