Sample Test: MRELTS ENGLISH for A1/A2 for SPEAKING & LISTENING

This test is fully approved by the UK Border Agency. The duration of this test will be approximately 20 minutes. This test is made up of 3 parts which will test the candidates for levels A1 and A2 in English. Part 1-Speaking (10 questions) includes a few brief recoded passages from which the candidate will be asked to give brief answers. The areas covered are: Personal life, Family life, House/Living, Work, Hobbies/Interests, Travel, Etc. few example questions are: 1) What is your name? 2) Where were you born? 3) How many brothers and sisters do you have? 4) What is your favourite colour? 5) What type of food do you like? Part 2-Listening (10 questions) includes brief recordings. Candidates have answer sheets with illustrations. Each question has 3 answers from which only ONE is correct. The candidate simply ticks or circles the correct answer. Example passage: Tony wanted to buy some clothes and so he left for the shops early. Usually he takes a Bus, however, today he has decided to WALK to the shops. He arrived at the shops at NINE O Clock.

The candidate has open time to answer each question in detail. Few example questions are mentioned below: 1) Where did you learn to speak English? glish? 2) Do you speak any other languages? 3) Have you ever been on holiday, and where did you go? 4) Do you work or study? Tell me more about it? 5) What are your hobbies or interests? Part 1 = 10 Questions. (Audio recording) - Total marks achievable (20) Part 2 = 10 Questions. (Audio recording) -Total marks achievable (10) . Part 3 = 10 Questions. (Examiner discussion) - Total marks achievable (20) This test is designed to test candidates level of English in Listening and Speaking modules only. There is no reading or writing involved during the Test for A1/A2 levels.
