HOW ECAs CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE TO OIL AND GAS PROJECTS

This presentation is intended to demonstrate how financing supported by an official export credit agency can enhance the prospects for the successful underwriting and completion of major oil and gas projects. The speaker will open by explaining why the major oil and gas producing countries have faced difficulty in raising offshore funding (ECA or bank) for major developmental projects. He will then explain how the characteristics of oil and gas projects nevertheless lend themselves to such funding despite the difficult country background. He will then describe how the ECAs have developed specific solutions to better enable them to support multi-national projects. He will move on to describe some particular financing structures in which ECGD has been involved. He will finish with a resume of 10 good reasons for using an official ECA.
