(with due apology to yesterdays blogger Awonderer Awonderer and his blog Nature of Soul) Let us forget what Hindu scriptures say for some time. Nature of something can be said as essence. There is something called substance and there is something called essence. Essence is the nature of substance. Physical body is substance and soul is its essence. Does the substance which is a matter hides its essence. Or does it reveals it?Does this body an outer covering which hides the real nature of the body? As you can perceive this directly seeing your body, it is not covering or hiding the essence or its own nature, its own soul. It is revealing it. It is revealed by the body through its function, automation, the beauty (or ugliness) , through its thoughts and ideas or another one or whole the attributes of appearance and function. Similarly the universe is a substance and soul of the universe is the Universal Soul, Brahm or God. Or the Reality. Does this universe with myriad of planets, stars and black holes; the whole atomic and sub atomic realities, whole magnetism, electricity, light and sound principles covers or hides its soul. Does all the attributes of appearance of the universe hide the soul of the universe or are they are revealing it. The outer appearance of universe reveals the eternal and infinite essence of the universe. The nature of universe, its essence or its soul is not something as entity or to say that God or Reality has a body. Anthropomorphic God or one hidden in man or other individual creation, is inconceivable. Reality is the attribute, the feature, the property the quality or trait of the universe as a substance. Universe is due to its reality and reality is due to universe.

Every spec of creation reveals the soul or nature or God of the universe. God or Reality is the nature of the universe or the soul of universe. God is natured in nature. God is both substance or property of the substance. God is one single substance that pervades nature. this substance is indivisible and no other substance than God or Reality exists. God is both the function and reality of the substance. God or nature acts from the same necessity by which it exists. It is infinite, necessary, uncaused and indivisible. This is one single substance and is infinite. No other substance which is not God can be conceived. hense God is Uncaused. Cause will come if another substance exists parralel to God. A judging God who has plans and act purposefully is not the God or soul of nature. Seeing God as one who is to be obeyed and placated or calmed through prayers is absurd and inconceivable. Nature has no definite end or plans or Goal. Nature is not necessarily pre-determined. So God or soul of nature cannot not plan everything or put man as part of their plan to a predetermined end. The things follow one another without predetermined end or predetermined origin or cause and effect. This one single attribute determines freedom of man on earth. Extension is one of the attribute of God. God as substance is extended in its properties. Mind and thought are the extensions of substance. So idea (in mind) is just one mode or attribute of God. Something that exists in nature and idea of that something (in ones mind) is one and same thing. Infinite series of ideas constitute Gods mind or his infinite intellect. So man as mind is just an extended substance of God.

Source : Developed with some thoughts of Spinoza

Spinoza (17th century) goes parallel to Adi-Shankara or Astavakra when he says that all thought and ideas are Gods thought and ideas, mind is Gods mind, nature or soul is all universal (that of God, whole nature. Mind of man is extended substance of God. There is no individual soul left.
