4. What do you think is the role of Human Resources Management in business today?
Human resource management is one of the very important aspects of an organization. It is the human who provide their efforts and drive a business towards achieving its objectives. Therefore, effective and efficient management of human resources is very crucial for the success of a business enterprise. In general, the HR department works more closely with the individual employees and performs some basic roles for the organization. When candidates apply for a job, HR department has to recruit and select the best candidate by conducting tests and interviews. It provides different training and development programs to the employees as per their requirement so that they can upgrade and develop their skills and cope with the organizational environment. Performance measurement is another role of HR department. By using some tools and techniques, it measures employee performance and makes important decisions relating to promotion, demotion, termination and training needs of the employees. HR department also implements several motivational schemes on a regular basis for ensuring a congenial working environment for employees which, in turn, minimize employee turnover and absenteeism. Furthermore, HR managers have to carefully deal with the compensation and benefits issues of organization as it accounts for a large proportion of business costs. As another important role, human resources department needs to be updated with the changes in relevant laws. The department has to prepare and change the ground rules for hiring, firing, discipline and interaction with employees, as well as compensation and benefits in compliance with the local and international labour and employment laws. Because of globalization, diversity in the workforce, managements change in focus and existence of national and international laws, the role of HR management has become more challenging than ever

before. Rather than having focus only on HR department, HR is now getting involved in overall decision making, and thus contributing to the company as a whole. Now a day, it is becoming more a part of the team than it once was.

5. From your statement above, identify and outline three key Human Resources points/concepts: 1. In general, Human Resources Management performs some basic functions of an organization.
It deals with the recruitment, selection, performance appraisal, training, compensation, health and safety issues of the employees.

2. Globalization and employee diversity have made it mandatory for the Human Resources
managers to be updated with the national and international labour and employment laws.

3. Now a day, the boundary of human resource managers is not limited to HR department only,
rather their activities and involvement in overall decision making are becoming vital for the business success.

6. Why are you interested in becoming a Human Resources Professional?


I am highly interested to take the challenges of career and, would like to contribute for the organizations success in a direct manner. Human resource management is one of the very challenging professions now a day. It is the place where HR manager has to work keeping himself in the middle of conflicts between employees and owners. For this, it becomes a challenging issue for HR manager to keep both the party happy. I love to interact with the people for understanding their problems and to find the best solution of their problems. I am a person who likes to take all these challenges. It is the HR department that performs core functions of an organization including recruitment, selection, training, performance management, compensation etc. Organizations achievement and existence depends on the successful execution of these functions. I want to contribute in my organizations success working as a HR professional. My academic and professional experiences also convinced me to become a HR professional. I have an MBA with major in HRM and also I did a master degree in employment relations. Additionally, I have the experience in working as a HR consultant for some years in my home country. Having these educational and practical exposures in HR field, I have decided to pursue my career as a Human Resources Professional in Canada.
