The Influence of Tri - Party Interactions on Cross - Strait Relations:

A Research Based onStrategic Triangle Theory

Abstract: The interactions among three major parties across the Taiw an Strait
Chinese Communist Party (CCP) , Kuo
M in Tang ( KM T) and Democratic Progressive Party ( DPP ) have imposed significant influence on the cross - strait relations.
Based on strategic triangle theory, relationship among the three parties could be interp reted as stable marriage partner2
ship s since 2005. W ith CCP and KM T p layed aspartnerroles and DPP asoutcastw ithin the framework, the current pat2
tern may hardly bring mutual benefit to relations across the Taiw an Strait in the long run. If more active movement towards DPP
could be initiated by CCP, then a romantic triangle partnership w ill be w ithin reach. A s a result, CCP w ill earn itself ap iv2
otposition in substantially opposing Taiw ans secession from China and p romoting peaceful national reunification.
