SIZE 21 circumference x 8 deep MATERIALS Manos del Uruguay RITTENHOUSE MERINO 5-PLY (100% extrafine merino; approx. 100g, 218 yds), 1 skein. Shown in 598 Violets. 3 buttons, 1 US 10.5/6.5mm ndls, or size to obtain gauge GAUGE 14 sts and 22 rows = 4 over Seed St with 2 strands of yarn held together Seed Stitch (odd number of sts) Every row: K1, (p1, k1) to end of row.

COWL Holding 2 strands of yarn together, CO 31 sts. Work in Seed Stitch until piece measures 21 (or desired circumference of cowl). Next row, make buttonholes: *Work 6 sts in Seed St as established, BO 2 sts for buttonhole; rep from * twice more; work in Seed St to end. Next row: work in Seed St, casting on 2 sts over buttonhole gaps. BO in Seed St. FINISHING Sew on buttons. Weave in ends. Block lightly if desired.
