Zebra Hat

Materials: 1 skein Black Caron Simply Soft (or your choice yarn) 1 Skein White Caron Simply Soft (or your choice yarn) Scrap of pink Caron Simply Soft (or your choice yarn) Size H Hook

With black: Ch 3 and join into a ring, ch 1 1. Complete 6 sc in the ring, joining in the top of the first sc and ch 1 (6 sc). 2. Complete 2sc in each sc around, join in the top of the first sc and ch 1 (12 sc). 3. Sc in the first sc, *2sc in the next sc, 1 sc in the next sc, repeat from * around, joining in the top of the first sc and ch 1 (18 sc) 4. One sc in each of the first two sc, *2sc in the next sc, one sc in the next two sc, repeat from * around, joining in the top of the first sc and ch 1 (24 sc) 5. One sc in each of the first three sc, *2sc in the next sc, one sc in the next three sc, repeat from * around, joining in the top of the first sc and ch 1 (30 sc) 6. One sc in each of the first four sc, *2sc in the next sc, one sc in each of the next four sc, repeat from * around, joining in the top of the first sc and ch 1 and switch to white (36 sc) 7. (in white) One sc in each of the next 5 sc, *2 sc in the next sc, one sc in each of the next 5 sc, repeat from * around, joining in the top of the first sc and ch 1 (42 sc)

8. One sc in each of the next 6 sc, *2 sc in the next sc, one sc in each of the next 6 sc, repeat from * around, joining in the top of the first sc and ch 1 (48 sc) 9. One sc in each of the next 7 sc, *2 sc in the next sc, one sc in each of the next 7 sc, repeat from * around joining in the top of the first sc and ch 1 (54 sc) 10. One sc in each of the next 8 sc, *2 sc in the next sc, one sc in each of the next 7 sc, repeat from *around, joining in the top of the first sc and ch 1 and switch back to black (60 sc) 11 14: (in black) sc in each sc around, joining in the top of the first sc and ch1. At the end of the 4th row, switch back to white. 15 18: (in white) sc in each sc around, joining in the top of the first sc and ch 1. At the end of the 4th row, switch back to black. 19 22: Repeat rows 11-14 23 26: repeat rows 15-18 27 29: repeat rows 11- 13 (Note only three rows this time!) 30. (Ear flap) ss over 7 sc, sc in the next 11 sc, ch 1 and turn 31 - 32. sc in each of the 11 sc, ch 1 and turn at the end of each row, switching to white at the end of row 32 33. sc in each of the next 11 sc, ch 1 and turn 34-37: skip the firsts sc and work even across but dec 2tog on the last 2 sc. 38. sc in each sc, ch 1 and turn finish off Repeat 30-38 on the other side. Optional: In trim color (we chose pink) sc around entire hat to include the ear flaps Braid: 8 strands black, 7 strands white 2x as long Pull through so ends meet 2 sets, 5 each, mix of w & b Braid together, knot end and leave tails

Ears: Make 2 in Pink or white (inner ear) and 2 in black (or white if you did pink inner ears) for the outer ear ch 10 2 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 tc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 2sc. Continue around the other side of the chain: 2 sc, 1 hdc, 1dc, 1tc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 2 sc. F/O Take one pink ear and one black ear and place with back sides (or wrong sides) together with the pink on top, sc around the edge of the ear with black (or white if you did a white outer ear)
