THE THIRD WORLD WAR WILL BE FOUGHT FOR WATER We never know the worth of water till the

well is dry is rightly said by Thonamas Tuller. Water is an inexhaustible gift of nature. Thought it is the most copiously available resources on this planet yet it is fast becoming the scarcest one for human use. Planet earth having 71% of the land covered with water, we have to cry for it. Water, Water everywhere nor any drop to drink. In spite of being surrounded by water we have failed to harness water for drinking & all, but let me tell you, we ourselves are responsible for this acute shortage of water. The pressure put up by our ever increasing population on this earth has exploited all natural resources including water to the fullest & even its uneven distribution in spaces & time has threatened human welfare, livelihood & economic development & my friends this water crisis would bring nations at logger heads & would certainly lead towards war for water in the times to come.

There is plenty of water on earth but we have to save this drinking water. Our earth looks beautiful when to save this drinking water. Our earth looks beautiful when viewed from outer space because of its blue colors that represents water & that is why the earth is called Blue Planet But isnt it ironical that this water cant quench the thirst of our future generation. Not to our surprise, we must accept that third world war will be fought for water. Wars on this earth have been fought over land, power & glory but war for water will be the last thing that well be left to fight for. This is very sorry state of affair that global consumption of water has doubled in the last two decades. According to one study, more than one billion people on this earth already lack access to the fresh drinking water & the mean annual flow of the Indian rivers is estimated to 1869 billion cubic meters but its a matter of great concern that only about 690 billion cubic meter i.e. 36.92% of it is available for use. You must have known that in the recent years around 85% of the Egyptian marshlands which is the largest wet land in the middle eat & the most outstanding fresh water systems of the world have been lost.

The immediate causes of marshland loss has been the massive drainage works implemented in southern drag in the early 1990s following the 2nd world war. My dear friend let us take another aspect of this problem. We talk about quantity of water but let me tell you closely linked wit the problem of quantity of water is the issue of quality of water. Industrial effluents, increasing population & rapid urbanization are causing deterioration of quality of surface water resources. Let me take you to a journey into the future. Imagine many centuries would have passed & our friendly alien from outer space feels the will to see the blue planet 7 the rain that falls here and the beautiful rivers that flow out. When he reaches the land, he is unable to find anything like that. What he would find? Barren land, dried ocean and deviled rivers. There would be no sign of life on earth. There would be just skeletons & weapons lying here and there because the third world war would have taken place.
