Introduction
Keeping track of hours worked is an essential part of the contractor's job, to ensure that the correct hours
are invoiced. This handy spreadsheet is set up to allow the contractor to record hours booked. In addition,
the spreadsheet can be used to record mileage (useful if travel expenses are claimed). The spreadsheet
is split into the following sections:
i. Manhours are recorded on four worksheets (One for each Quarter).
ii. The fifth worksheet provides an overall summary of booked hours and mileage.
Recording Manhours
Each week is setup individually, identified by the weekending date (i.e. the Sunday). The manhours are inputted
over three columns (cells requiring data are highlighted in green).
i. Time in
ii. Time out
iii. Time taken for lunch.
Days not worked should be left blank. UK (English Bank Holidays are highlighted in the spreadsheet. For other
parts of the world, these can be ignored.
Recording Mileage
Many contractors are able to claim mileage to and from their place of work. Daily mileage figures can be entered
into the table on the right hand side of the spreadsheet (cells requiring data are highlighted in green).

Monday - Hours worked between 8am and 5pm, with a 30 minute lunch, hence
8.5 hours booked.
Tuesday - Hours worked between 8am and 5:30pm, with a 30
hence 9 hours booked.
Wednesday - Hours worked between 8:30am and 5:00pm, with a 30 minute lunch,
hence 8 hours booked
Thursday - Hours worked between 8am and 5:00pm, with an hour lunch, hence
8 hours booked
Friday - Half day book between 8am and 12:30pm, with no
4.5 hours booked
Saturday & Sunday - No hours booked
In addition, the user has booked a daily mileage allowance of 20 miles - giving a total of
week.
Summary Worksheet
The fifth worksheet provides a summary of the manhours worked and earnings for the
the user has to input the contract hourly rate.
