FIRE, FIRE ALARM AND/OR EXPLOSION

INITIAL RESPONSE
ALERT others to the danger as you leave CLOSE the door to the area if possible PULL (RING) THE NEAREST FIRE ALARM LEAVE the building by the nearest exit DO NOT USE ELEVATORS NOTIFY 911 to report details of the emergency NOTIFY CAMPUS SECURITY: 585-4999 GO to the staging area and wait for Emergency Wardens; report details to the Wardens STAY to assist the Warden with information for the Fire Department

EMERGENCY WARDENS WILL:


INITIATE emergency evacuation procedures developed for their building CHECK, if safe to do so, their areas to ensure complete evacuation ENSURE that all evacuees move away from the building and there is an open route for arriving fire trucks MAKE SURE no one enters the building until the all clear is given by the Fire Department

CHIEF BUILDING WARDENS WILL:


ENSURE, upon notification of fire alarm or fire emergency, that the Fire Safety Plan is implemented ENSURE that no one re-enters the building until the all clear is given by the Fire Department LIAISE with the Fire Department and Campus Security at the fire alarm panel to ensure effective communication MAINTAIN communication with Facilities Management as required Upon notification from the Fire Department that the building is safe, INFORM building occupants that they can re-enter the building

CAMPUS SECURITY WILL:
If contacted directly, OBTAIN information, including: o Nature of the emergency o Location of the emergency o Whether injuries or loss of life occurred VERIFY that 911 has been called and given full information; if not, call 911 NOTIFY WORK CONTROL CENTRE/HEATING PLANT Upon arrival at the scene ESTABLISH an INCIDENT COMMAND POST in conjunction with the Chief Building Warden and the Fire Commander ASSIST the Incident Command Post by: o Providing radio communications o Providing crowd control as necessary o Providing assistance to the emergency response team Prepare a detailed, written report of incident and forward copies to DIRECTOR, HEALTH & SAFETY and DIRECTOR, PRODUCTION

WORK CONTROL CENTRE / HEATING PLANT WILL:


OBTAIN pertinent information, including: o Nature of the emergency o Location of the emergency DISPATCH Facilities Management personnel as required

TRADES PERSONNEL WILL:


STAND BY to silence and re-set alarms as directed by the Fire Department STAND BY to restore or turn off building water supply or fire sprinklers STAND BY to turn off natural gas supply to buildings STAND BY to turn off or restore electricity to buildings ADVISE Director, Production as required

NOTIFY as required by regulations: o Sask Ministry of Advanced Education, Employment & Labour OH&S Division 787-4496 o Sask Ministry of Environment 1-800-667-7525 Assist in investigating cause of emergency
