PLEASE NOTE BEFORE STARTING BUILDING

SUPER 9 Type Examination Certificate no 474001 SUPER 9 MEETS THE SCAFFOLDING STANDARD SS-EN 12810-1 TYPE EXAMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SPCR 064 ASSEMBLY AND DISMANTLING of Super 9 must only be carried out by personnel with adequate technical knowledge. When assembling, using and dismantling, regulations AFS 1990:12 and AFS 2004:4 must be complied with. Damaged components must be replaced by defect free components. GOOD FOUNDATION. It is very important that Super 9 is vertically and horizontally correct when the scaffolding is placed in position. Partly for durability, partly to avoid problems when assembling. ANCHORING. It is very important that the scaffolding is anchored so that wind loads and forces of motion in the scaffolding are taken up. Anchor as close to standard joints as possible and with approved expander in wall where the traction force has been checked. During extreme weather conditions, e.g. strong wind and precipitation in the form of loose snow, it is important to increase the anchoring. Covered scaffolding shall be considered from case to case as to the number of wall ties. If the scaffolding becomes covered with ice in the event of freezing rain, the plank platform must be sanded. EXAMINE THE SCAFFOLDING AT REGULAR INTERVALS. When Super 9 is complete it is important that it is examined regularly as it can be subjected to abnormal influence, e.g. be driven into or overloaded. Likewise wall ties could have been loosened by workmen. AFTER DISMANTLING AND BEFORE THE NEXT ERECTION the materials must be cleaned and inspected. Defective parts must not be reused before the fault has been remedied. In certain cases, if the components are cracked or bent, they must not be used at all.

DESCRIPTION OF SUPER 9

ALL THAT IS NEEDED to assemble Super 9 is a hammer and a spirit level. SUPER 9 IS A STRONG, stable, user-friendly and flexible scaffolding system for construction, plant and industry. Super 9 is also easy to use for stages, podiums, platforms, stands, signage stands etc, which, however is not covered by the type examination. SUPER 9 IS MODULAR SCAFFOLDING in hot galvanised, high class steel, for long life, designed to achieve the highest strength at the lowest weight. SUPER 9 CONSISTS OF STANDARDS, horizontal and diagonal braces (bars) that can be connected both lengthways and widthways. On the standards are rings at a distance of 0.50 m for connection of the bars. The standards are max 4 m long. THE BAY LENGTHS AMOUNT TO 1.5 m, 2 m, 2.5 m and 3 m. Bars are available between 0.7 m and 3 m. All measurements in cc standard to standard. NORMALLY DIAGONALS ARE NOT NEEDED on Super 9 as the lattice rails function as both brace and side guard. THERE ARE VARIOUS OPTIONS with regard to decking, but with aluminium plank diagonal treads or ledgers are not necessary.

ERECTING

Plan your work carefully before commencing erection of Super 9 and always use underlay for the base jacks. Try to begin at the highest ground level and roughly adjust the base jacks so that they are all at approximately the same height.

Fit the horizontal rail to the inside of the standards cups.

Adjust the base jacks and make sure to check that the scaffolding is horizontal and vertical.

ERECTING

Insert a double rail on the outside in the standards lower cups. Lock all couplers with a hammer.

Be careful to ensure that the couplers are secured during the work process.

Place aluminium plank on the upper horizontal brace and lock the plank with the sliding bolt. (If you are using wooden planks they must be joined together with a plank lock.) Your first bay is now complete.
10

ERECTING

The bay must now be adjusted so that the distance from the decking to the wall is not more than max 30 cm. Check also that the horizontal rail and double rail are at right angles and adjust the base jacks so that the scaffold is horizontal. Both longitudinally and laterally. Note that it is extremely important to make these adjustments before commencing erection, as all faults become magnified the higher the scaffolding.

Then continue assembling standards, horizontal rail, double rail and aluminium plank in the same way as before. In order to carry out the erection more quickly you can use 4 metre standards and fit 2 plank platforms on each standard (plank platform height 2 m). Dont forget to secure the couplers during the work process.

Depending on estimated load per standard you can now move some of the double rails and horizontal rails up from the base. The aluminium plank replaces ledgers on the inside of the scaffold. If you are using wooden planks or are moving the aluminium plank from one plank platform to another you must instead fit horizontals in each plank platform level on the inside.
11

ERECTING

Check that the scaffold is still horizontal before you fit the first ties. Fit them directly under the plank platform in each inner standard. Vertically the ties are distributed closer and closer in every second plank platform level and in positions exposed to wind.

DISMANTLING & ASSEMBLY INFORMATION

DISMANTLING OF SUPER 9 Dismantling is carried out in reverse/opposite order to the erection process. However, check before dismantling that no ties have been removed and that all components are in the original position. SUPER 9 FAADE SCAFFOLDING The S9 scaffolding system is type examined and certified by SP, No 47 40 01,Technical Research Institute of Sweden, for load class 2-6 in accordance withAFS 1 1990:12. Module length 3.0 m load class 4, module length 2.5 m load class 5 and all shorter module sizes load class 6. S9 PERMISSIBLE LEG LOAD To calculate the scaffoldings maximum construction height, the standards load capacity must be calculated in accordance with new standard safety tolerance. The standards load capacity is affected by distance vertically between the horizontal rail longitudinally and across the scaffolding. Likewise the vertical distance between ties. The table below shows the standards load capacity including margin for safe permissible load. Lift height Wall anchor distance 2.0 m 4.0 m 2.0 m 1/3-3.0 m 2/3-4.0 m 2.0 m 1/3-2.0 m 2/3-4.0 m 1.5 m 1.5 m 4-way Ledger Connection 1.5 m (Multiple Standards) 1.5 m (Single Standard) Leg load 12.0 kN 15.3 kN 19.8 kN 36.5 kN 50.0 kN

S9 LEDGER HORIZONTAL Super 9 faade scaffolding can be constructed 0.7 m wide as narrow scaffolding, alternatively 1 m and max 1.25 m wide. The design of the beams for the working level, so called ledgers, is the same as the horizontal rail, but shorter in length. The wider ledgers 1.25 m and 1.75 m in width, have a reinforcement on the underside to counteract downward bending.

13

DISMANTLING & ASSEMBLY INFORMATION

S9 HORIZONTAL Longitudinally, the horizontal rails form longitudinal braces between the standards. The short start standard is usually fitted with a horizontal rail both longitudinally and laterally. In general, horizontals must be fitted to the inside of the scaffolding in each plank platform level. If the scaffolding comes with lockable aluminium plank/hook plank, the horizontal rail can be fitted on every third plank platform on the inside of the scaffolding.

S9 DECKING For Scaffolding Deck the Super 9 scaffolding can be fitted out with either S9 Alu-plank made of bent profile or S9 extruded Alu-plank. Both fully adepted to the S9 scaffolding. S9 extruded Alu-plank is type examined to load class 6 all plank length up to 3.0 m. This Alu-plank is outfit with strong hooks that take the horizontal and rotation forces such way that Ledgers on inside of scaffolding bay can be replaced. Provided scaffolding width not exceed 1.25 m and fully planked out. Narrow scaffolding 0.7 and 1.0 m wide and bay size 3.0 m 4 scaffolding lifts can be loaded at class 3 at the same time. Bay size 2.5 m and shorter can be loaded at class 4 and 6 lifts at the same time. Both examples without stage brackets. Any other construction with shorter scaffolding bays can the load capasity be calculated based on maximum leg load specified page 14.

DISMANTLING & ASSEMBLY INFORMATION

S9 TOEBOARD All work plans must be provided with a toeboard on the long side outwards and on the gable of the scaffolding level. There are two variations of toeboards for the Super 9, of which one consists of an overlapping toeboard, 150 mm high and locked to the standard by a wedge junction, with a fork which grips over the boards. The other alternative is a wedge junction with a pin, on which a 150 mm high toeboard with exact module measurement is fitted. S9 DIAGONAL BRACING Super 9 is always fitted with the lattice rail on the outer standards, which has the threefold function of guard rail at waist and knee height as well as diagonal bracing. Further diagonal bracing vertically is needed when the scaffoldings total height exceeds 18.0 m. The scaffoldings outer bay must then be provided with a diagonal brace as well as in each 6th bay in between. S9 WALL TIE Anchoring to walls or similar fixed objects can be carried out with short or long anchor tubes. Each inner standard must be anchored in this way at least every 4th metre in height. The first anchoring above ground level takes place directly under the first joining of standards. E.g. at the top of the first 4.0 m base standard or 3.0 m base standard. Each 5th pair of standards must be provided with 2 anchor tubes at an angle, which thus takes up horizontal forces in the scaffolding.

DISMANTLING & ASSEMBLY INFORMATION

S9 BRACKETS A narrow scaffolding, 0.7 m in width, can be provided with 1-plank bracket, 0.3 m wide, in each plank platform level, however, only one height may be loaded per time. Brackets can, as a maximum, be loaded in load class 4. S9 MEANS OF ACCESS Through the fitting of an interconnected scaffolding bay, fitted with type examined approved aluminium stair with resting platform, on the outside of the scaffolding the most work friendly and ergonomically correct access to the scaffolding can be achieved. The aluminium stair is available for a 2.5 m scaffold bay with a rise corresponding to a plank platform height of 2.0 m. The stair must be fitted with a two member guard rail and with a toeboard at the lower resting platforms gable side. S9 ERECTION HIGHT Super 9 scaffolding is type examined and fully approved based on SPs latest scaffolding configuration, the 24 m model. Which configuration confirm the scaffolding can be erected with longest bay size 3.0 m width 1.25 m up to 24 m height all lifts equiped with planks. Any scaffolding which differ from the standard model require loading calculation in any new case depending on height, width, type of job, wall ties, and so on.
