C a n Yo u Sp ar e a Dim e?
"Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, 'In what way have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings (Malachi 3:8).

The old cartoons will have a bum on the street asking a passer -by, Hey buddy, can you spare a dime for a cup of coffee? Honestly, I dont remember the ten cent cup of coffee. In junior high, some friends and I would stop at a diner and get a cup of well doctored coffee before school, at twenty-five cents for the cup. At the college snack bar, a cup of coffee went for a terrible thirty-five cents. It was fifty cents at the soda fountain in the flower shop in downtown Minco. That was over thirty years ago. When we lived in Guthrie, there was a special deal at the Loves store. A cup of pretty good coffee could be bought for a quarter, but other places it was at least fifty-nine cents. How about a dime cup of coffee. Stop by the Starbucks or other local coffee shop and see how much coffee you can get for a dime. Of course some of the concoctions that are called coffee have more other stuff in them than coffee, and that is just fine. Still, even a cup of regular coffee at a 7-11 will begin at more than half a dollar. What about just having that cup at home. You might be able to have a weak cup for a dime (not counting the cost of water and electricity), but many now use those fancy one cup brewers. At least fifty cents is tied to each one of those special cartridges of coffee. No, a dime for a cup of coffee is not going to work any more than a dollar will buy you a gallon of gasoline. Costs and prices have changed. What used to be, is not necessarily available today. We can moan about it, but we will buy the cup and drink it anyway. The cost for the church changes too. Keep it in mind as you figure your giving. Russ

Spotlight on Missions
This Week: India Preaching School & Orphanage School: Preachers School: Men are screened prior to acceptance and spend 6 weeks studying and training to preach. After graduation these men go out in to the bush teaching, preaching and establishing congregations of the Lords church. Hundreds of men have trained and gone out since inception and many congregations have been established. Preachers: Southern Ridge supports 3 full time preachers who completed the training and were recommended by Chandrapaul. They all have families and preach in congregations apart from the school. Each man trained at the school returns about every six months for refresher courses to supplement their training and help them remain faithful to scripture.

you have iTunes on your smartphone, tablet, or computer, you can listen and download weekly sermons. Go to iTunes and search Southern Ridge Sermons.
