SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Warning: Before epening any system, make sure the pressure in the system is breught to. and remains atmospheric pressure. Failure to. comply can result in system damage and/or personal injury.
at

Read installation instructions theroughly. Failure to. follow instructions may result in valve failure, system damage, or' personal injury. . 2 De not use en service conditions or fluids net specifically cataleged, without prier written approval of ALCO Engineering Department. Use of Thermo. valves on applications net specifically catalcqed can resutt in vaJy.eJailura.andLQLs.y~!IlJi;;lrnage,.~~ . ,_. ",. .. 3. Prot~ct againstexcessive vibratien, it may ~a~a t~bingb-reakWhichWill causevalve'-faiiure. 4. Foreign matter In the Thermo valve may cause diaphragm failure, floodinq, or starving of the valve. Use of an ALCO liquid line filter-drier is strongly recommended. 5. Valves are factory set to. a specific superheat. If adjustment is needed, refer to. Superheat Adjustment section for proper procedure. Improper adjustment of superheat can result in system damage. 6. Use back-up wrench en all wrench flats. Over-torquing TABLE 1 can result in valve body damage. , Maximum Dehydration Temperature -F 7. Proper valve sizing is important. An oversizec valve may THERMOSTATIC CHARGE result in erratic control. An undersized valve 8. considerably reduces system capacity. Do not exceed maximum wor1<ing pressure of 450 psig., excess intemal pressure could cause damage to diaphragm. resutting in valve malfunction. Do not exceed maximum working temperature (see table 1) - excess temperatures could cause internal damage. resulting in valve malfunction. MEASURING SUPERHEAT
1. Determine the suction pressure On self-contained 2. From refrigerant determine suction pressure systems, with an accurate pressure connection. gauge at the evaporator outlet (see P in figure 2). the suction suction may be read at the compressor saturation temperature of suction temperature
