Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Harry has finally come of age, and finally started on his

final journey to defeat Voldemort for good. The Durselys are forced to go into hiding so that Voldemorts Death Eaters will not torture them for information, and Harry sets off with Ron and Hermione on a difficult quest to find and destroy the last of Voldemorts Horcruxes. nly once those ha!e "een destroyed, Harry #nows, can Voldemort truly "e #illed. $ts not easy. Harry is %lagued with rumors of Dum"ledores %ast, and "egins to wonder if the Headmaster he so long re!ered might ha!e had a much dar#er %ast than he e!er let on. The three are frequently without food, and with winter coming their journey is no day at the "each. &ecause of their lac# of %lan, lac# of food, and lac# of %rogress, their s%irits are often low, and Ron es%ecially "ecomes argumentati!e. ne night he and Harry get into an e%ic fight and Ron lea!es to go "ac# home. Harry and Hermione are de!astated that hed a"andoned them. They finally decide to re!isit 'odrics Hollow in search of clues, and once again theyre almost caught "y Voldemort. E!ery ste% they ma#e, it seems, he is there antici%ating them. They!e almost died too many times to count, and their s%irits sin# e!en lower when Harry disco!ers his wand was "ro#en in the "attle. Ron redeems himself a few wee#s later "y coming "ac# and sa!ing Harrys life in the nic# of time. They manage to destroy another Horcrux with 'ryffindors sword, and they "ecome excited again as they "egin to learn a"out a mysterious trio of magical o"jects called the Deathly Hallows. (home!er %ossesses the three o"jects will "e a master of death, and to Harry, its his one chance to "eat Voldemort and li!e to tell the tale. )s his ad!entures and the danger hes in increases, Harry "egins to truly understand what Dum"ledore intended him to do. He reali*es, almost at the last minute, that his own life will ha!e to "e sacrificed in order for Voldemort to truly "e !anquished. +illed with lo!e for his friends, he willingly gi!es his life so that they may li!e. His last act of heroism, howe!er, sa!es his life. He meets Dum"ledore again in death, and Dum"ledore answers many of his questions. He is gi!en a choice to stay or to go "ac#, and he chooses to go "ac# and fight. $ts all o!er "etween Harry and Voldemort with just one s%ell. Harry is left ali!e, the true master of the Hallows, and Voldemort is #illed for good. He now understands more than he e!er has a"out lo!e, and life, and sacrifice, and in s%ite of the loss of many of his friends during the last "attle, is grateful for the second chance hes "een gi!en at life, and lo!e.

'eno Lo%egood ? @eno is 4una 4o!egoods father, and editor of the Dui""ler. He is !ery anti?Voldemort until they ta#e 4una away, and he ends u% turning Harry in so he can get her "ac#. Luna Lo%egood ? 4una is a Ra!enclaw student and one of Harrys truest friends.

(hen they get there they are seated at a long ta"le with their fellow Death Eaters. Voldemort sits at the head, and anxiously awaits 0na%es re%ort on when Harry 1otter is to "e mo!ed from his safehouse. He is %lanning to attac# Harry on his way to a secret location, where he will "e constantly guarded "y mem"ers of the rder of the 1hoenix. There is a woman dangling u%side down o!er the ta"le, "ut no one %ays any attention to her. 0he is a %rofessor of 5uggle 0tudies at Hogwarts and is doomed to die "y Voldemorts hand. Draco 5alfoy, howe!er, cant "ring himself to loo# at her. (hen Voldemort finally does #ill the %oor woman, Draco falls out of his chair. $ts o"!ious that he, as well as his father, 4ucius, and his mother, Earcissa, are not ha%%y that Voldemort is "ac# in %ower and staying at their home. ,editChapter ,* -n Memoriam )s Harry cleans out his school trun# com%letely for the first time since he started at Hogwarts, the %rocess is li#e going "ac# in time. He comes across items left a"andoned in there from each year, and going through them all is li#e ta#ing a wal# down memory lane. Hes sorting items "y the things hell need on his journey. E!erything else, hes sure, the Dursleys will "urn in the middle of the night after hes gone. )s hes sorting through the news%a%ers, he comes across a memorial article for )l"us Dum"ledore that was %u"lished just recently. The story goes into great detail a"out Dum"ledores life, and Harry is !ery sur%rised to reali*e he #new almost nothing a"out his %ast. The man was a mystery, and Harry wishes strongly hed ta#en more time to get to #now who he truly was. Harry also comes across another article written "y Rita 0#eeter, who will soon "e %u"lishing a scandalous new "oo# a"out Dum"ledores life. $t addresses questions li#e why Dum"ledores sister died so young, and what really ha%%ened to his "rother )"erforth. To Harry, the "oo# seems filled with nothing "ut nasty rumors, "ut it does get him wondering again a"out Dum"ledores life and what really ha%%ened while he was ali!e. ,editChapter .* The !ursleys !eparting +or the %ast few wee#s, the Dursleys ha!e "een %re%aring to go into hiding. His uncle has "een changing his mind e!ery day, alternating "etween going and refusing to go. Eow, he has con!inced himself that Harry is just after the house, and will do some Fhocus?%ocusF to get the deeds in his name the moment they lea!e. Harry manages to con!ince him of the danger that theyFre in, and that VoldemortFs su%%orters will torture them for information on Harry if theyFre caught.

(hen two mem"ers of the rder arri!e to ta#e the Dursleys into hiding, their good"ye is an aw#ward one. Harry is sur%rised when Dudley ex%resses concern that they are lea!ing Harry "ehind. He is further shoc#ed when Dudley than#s him for sa!ing his life the summer "efore last. $t a%%ears that the Dementor attac# "rought on a change in Dudley, and Harry realises the cu% of tea was %ro"a"ly su%%osed to "e a %resent. Dudley sha#es HarryFs hand, something that Gncle Vernon could not face, and follows his father outside. )unt 1etunia a%%ears to momentarily sto% "efore she lea!es, as if to say something, "ut instead follows her hus"and and son. ,editChapter /* The Se%en Potters )s Harry is left alone in the DursleysF house hes filled with something almost li#e sadness. He #nows he will %ro"a"ly ne!er set foot in here again, and as he waits for his guard he remem"ers all the times growing u% in this house. He re!isits his cu%"oard under the stairs and remem"ers what it was li#e wa#ing u% there e!ery morning. 0uddenly, figures "egin a%%earing in the DursleysF yard, and Harry wrenches o%en the door to greet them. Hermione, Ron, Hagrid, 5ad Eye 5oody, 4u%in, &ill, 5r. (easley, Ton#s, +red, 'eorge, and a few others ha!e all come to escort Harry to his safehouse. Harry is sur%rised to learn that their original %lan for getting him out had to "e a"andoned, and they!e got a new one. There will "e se!en Harry 1otters as decoys for the Death Eaters. Harry is a"solutely o%%osed to his friends %utting their li!es on the line for him, "ut they all insist that they want to do this for him. $t is the only way to get Harry out safely. nce the decoys ha!e all turned into Harry, the real Harry goes on the flying moter"i#e with Hagrid. They are u% in the air scant minutes "efore they are attac#ed "y Death Eaters. Harry and Hagrid "arely miss "eing #illed, "ut Hedwig doesnt ma#e it. 0uddenly, Voldemort is there in the s#y with them and is trying to #ill Harry. Harry "arely has time to thin# the s%ells are coming so fast, and just as Voldemort shouts )!ada >eda!ra at Harry, Harrys wand acts on its own accord and shoots a s%ell at Voldemort. ,editChapter 0* Fallen Warrior Harry cant thin# straight. )ll he #nows is that Hagrid is lying on the ground and wont get u%, and he has no idea where they are. He finds out he is at Ton#ss %arentsF house, and a few minutes later he finds out that Hagrid is all right. Harry tells Ted Ton#s that somehow the Death Eaters #new he was "eing mo!ed tonight, "ecause they were waiting for all of them. Ted tells Harry that their house is com%letely %rotected, so at least the Death Eaters will not "e a"le to attac# them there. Harry is terrified for the rest of his friends and ho%es that they made it through the attac#. They ta#e a 1ort#ey to the &urrow where they are met "y 5rs. (easley, who is anxiously awaiting their return. Harry is horrified to learn that hes the first one "ac#H no one else has managed to catch their 1ort#ey yet. 4u%in and 'eorge ma#e it "ac# next. 'eorge has "een injured and is rushed into the house. Hermione and >ingsley ma#e it "ac# next, and they all start wondering who in the rder could ha!e "etrayed them "ecause that is the only way the Death Eaters would ha!e #nown a"out the %lan. 5r. (easley and +red are the next ones "ac#, and then Ron and Ton#s ma#e it "ac#. They all ha!e horrifying tales of how they almost died in the attem%t. &ill and +leur finally ma#e it "ac#, "ut they "ring with them the news that 5ad?Eye 5oody died.

Harry feels terri"le. The guilt weighs on him li#e an anchor, and hes terrified that he has now %ut all the (easleys in danger "y staying there as well. The house is com%letely %rotected, "ut he still worries that he shouldnt "e there. ,editChapter 1* The Ghoul in Pa2amas )s Harry, Ron, and Hermione start %lanning for their journey to find Voldemorts Horcruxes, they ha!e to "e !ery tight?li%%ed a"out what they are doing. 5rs. (easley #nows they are %lanning something, and she does her "est to #ee% them se%arated so they ha!e no time to discuss what they are a"out to do. The entire household is %lanning for &ill and +leurs u%coming wedding, so they are #e%t really "usy cleaning and decluttering the &urrow. +inally they get an afternoon to tal# together and Harry tries to tal# the two of them out of coming with him. He is shoc#ed, howe!er, when they ex%lain to him how far they ha!e already gone %re%aring for their journey with Harry. Hermione has modified her %arentsF memory so they dont e!en thin# they ha!e a daughter Ishe doesnt want them caught and tortured "y Death EatersJ and shes sent them to li!e in )ustralia. Ron has turned the family ghoul into himself, only it loo#s li#e a Ron who is extremely sic# with s%attergroit. That way Voldemort and the Death Eaters would not #now if Ron was going with Harry since they would thin# Ron is sic#. ,editChapter 3* The Will of +l"us !um"ledore n Harrys se!enteenth "irthday hes touched and amused to "e gi!en a "oo# from Ron, of all %eo%le, on how to charm witches, and a watch "y 5r. and 5rs. (easley. )fter "rea#fast, 'inny %ulls him into her room and gi!es him her %resent, which is the longest, most %assionate #iss Harry has e!er had. They are interru%ted much too soon "y Ron and Hermione, and Ron is mad "ecause Harry was su%%osed to ha!e sto%%ed seeing 'inny at the end of the school year, for her %rotection. During his "irthday dinner Harry is shoc#ed when Rufus 0crimgeour shows u% and wants to tal# with him, Ron, and Hermione. (hen he tal#s with them %ri!ately he tells them that Dum"ledore left them some things in his will and he is here to deli!er them. Dum"ledore lea!es Harry 'odric 'ryffindorFs legendary sword, which 0crimegour has left "ac# in Hogwarts insisting that it wasnFt Dum"ledoreFs to gi!e away in the first %lace. He also left Harry a 'olden 0nitch, which, when touched to his li%s, re!eals the line KI open at the closeK, of which Harry cant ma#e heads or tails of. Ron is left a Deluminator Iwhich was shown in the "eginning of the first H1 mo!ieJ, which steals light from any near"y source. 4astly, he lea!es Hermione a "oo# of childrens stories entitled KThe Tales of Beedle the Bard.K Eone of them can figure out why Dum"ledore would ha!e left them these things, "ut they certainly dont tell the 5inister that. 0crimgeour is already highly sus%icious of the three of them and is con!inced they are u% to something. ,editChapter 4* The Wedding &ill and +leurs wedding turns out to "e a glorious affair. Harry, disguised as a (easley cousin named &arny, gets to meet all of Rons family and he gets to see many %eo%le he hasnt seen in a while. During the wedding Harry is tal#ing to >rum, who is !ery angry at 4una 4o!egoods father, @eno%hilius 4o!egood, "ecause hes su%%osedly wearing a !ery Dar# sym"ol on his dress ro"es.

>rum tells Harry that the sign is that of 'rindelwald, a Dar# wi*ard that Dum"ledore dueled with and defeated many years ago. 4ater, Harry gets the chance to tal# with the man who wrote Dum"ledores o"ituary in the Daily 1ro%het. The man, El%hias Doge, was good friends with Dum"ledore and Harry is excited to tal# with him. Rons )untie 5uriel, howe!er, is sitting with them and continues to s%read the same rumors that Rita 0#eeter is s%reading, that Dum"ledore was !ery cruel to his 0qui" sister and #e%t her loc#ed in the house all the time. Harry is also shoc#ed to find out that Dum"ledore grew u% in 'odrics Hollow, the same !illage as Harrys %arents. He is ama*ed that Dum"ledore ne!er thought to tell him this. &efore he can really register this fact, >ingsley 0hac#le"olts 1atronus, a lynx, arri!es at the wedding "earing a horrifying message KThe Ministry has fallen. Scrimegour is dead. They are coming.K ,editChapter 5* + Place To Hide 1andemonium "rea#s loose. Harry and Hermione s%rint through the crowd, loo#ing frantically for Ron. 5as#ed figures are starting to a%%ear out of nowhere, and then suddenly they find Ron. (ithout a word, Hermione gra"s them and )%%arates them "oth out of there. Hermione has )%%arated them into an area of 4ondon called Tottenham /ourt Road. Harry and Ron are shoc#ed to learn that she is com%letely %re%ared for their esca%e. 0hes magically %ac#ed e!ery thing they would need in her "ag. 0he used an Gndetecta"le Extension /harm on her "ag so e!erything can fit. They are "oth ama*ed at her ingenuity. They dart into a cafe to figure out what they are going to do. They are not in there long "efore two wor#men show u%, and somehow Harry just #nows they are Death Eaters. He doesnt #now how they found him, "ut they "arely ma#e it out of the diner after their minor duel. They decide to go to 'rimmauld 1lace to hide until they can figure out what to do. (hen they get to 'rimmauld 1lace they are accosted "y a few s%ells 5ad?Eye 5oody set u% in case 0na%e came "ac#. ) few minutes later they recei!e a 1atronus from Rons father, telling them KFamily safe, do not reply, we are eing watchedK. They are all ecstatic that no one is hurt. Harry can only feel ha%%y for a moment, howe!er, as the %ain in his scar shoots into his head. Harry rushes to the "athroom and succum"s to the %ain from the scar. He catches Ithe first of manyJglim%ses from VoldemortFs %oint of !iew, of Voldemort torturing the Death Eater Rowle, of whom Harry, Ron and Hermione had just stunned in the cafe. ,editChapter )6* 7reacher8s Tale Hermione has fortunately %ac#ed them slee%ing "ags and when Harry wa#es u% the next morning he sees that Ron and Hermione fell aslee% holding hands. The sight of them ma#es him feel a little "it lonely. (hile theyre still slee%ing, Harry cree%s u%stairs to 0iriuss room and goes inside. Hes ama*ed to find a letter to 0irius from his mother, 4ily. $t descri"es the "a"y Harry and his lo!e for the "roomstic# 0irius ga!e him for his first "irthday, also how Dum"ledore still has LamesF /loa#, "ut %art of the letter is missing and the text ends just as 4ilyFs going to write something shoc#ing a"out Dum"ledore, and so Harry searches frantically around the room for the rest of the letter, "ut he couldnFt find it anywhere. n the way "ac# downstairs Harry finds a sign on another door from 0iriuss "rother, Regulus &lac#. His initials are R.).&, the same ones that were on the fa#e loc#et Horcrux that Harry and

Dum"ledore retrie!ed last year. The three search the room for o!er an hour loo#ing for the real loc#et "ut dont find it. Hermione, howe!er, remem"ers they threw away a loc#et last summer when they were cleaning out the house. Harry is horrified, "ecause he now reali*es that the loc#et is Voldemorts true Horcrux. Harry summons >reacher to as# him if he stole the loc#et "ac# and the elf tells him that he did. He tells Harry that 5undungus +letcher stole it from him, and now >reacher doesnt #now where it is. >reacher then tells Harry an ama*ing story of how he came to #now where the original loc#et was, and how Regulus ga!e his own life to try and destroy the Horcrux with >reachers hel%. Harry then as#s >reacher !ery nicely if he would go find 5undungus so they could continue Reguluss wor# and ensure he didnt die in !ain. ,editChapter ))* The $ri"e (hile they wait for >reachers return, Death Eaters ha!e started ta#ing u% watch outside 'rimmauld 1lace. 4u%in shows u% to gi!e them news of what ha%%ened after the wedding, and theyre all really glad to see someone from the rder. 4u%in doesnt "ring much good news, howe!er. The Death Eaters now ha!e the full might of the 5inistry "ehind them now that the 5inister is dead, and rumors are "eing s%read that Harry is wanted for questioning in Dum"ledores death. He also tells them that the 5inistry, which is now really headed "y Voldemort, is rounding u% 5uggle?"orns and ma#ing them register. $f they cant %ro!e they ha!e at least one close wi*ard relati!e, theyre "eing %unished for BstealingC magic. 4u%in also as#s them if he can go with them on their mission. Harry wants to #now why hed !olunteer to go away when he and Ton#s just got married, and 4u%in tells them that shes also ex%ecting a "a"y. (hen Harry finds this out, hes outraged that 4u%in would ditch his wife and #id to go off with them. They get into a huge argument a"out it, and 4u%in tells them that he regrets marrying Ton#s and regrets ha!ing a #id "ecause now theyre all going to "e outcasts "ecause hes a werewolf. 4u%in lea!es suddenly when Harry calls him a coward, and then Harry feels really guilty for laying into him li#e that. 0till, his reasons, if it ma#es 4u%in go "ac# to Ton#s, will "e worth it. )s if the night couldnt get any more exciting, >reacher returns with 5undungus. Harry is amused to find that now >reacher is entirely on their side, and wastes no time trying to "eat u% 5undungus. Harry finds out from 5undungus that he sold the loc#et to none other than Dolores Gm"ridge. ,editChapter ),* Magic is Might )s )ugust %asses slowly on, more and more Death Eaters are hanging out in the square outside 'rimmauld 1lace. The change in >reacher is nothing short of ama*ing. He now coo#s e!ery meal, 'rimmauld 1lace is shining clean, and he treats Harry, Ron, and Hermione with utmost res%ect. 'rimmauld 1lace has "ecome li#e a co*y home to the three of them. They ha!e s%ent all their time trying to figure out how they are going to get the loc#et "ac# from Gm"ridge. They ha!e "een sta#ing out the 5inistry under Harrys $n!isi"ility /loa#, and they finally ha!e a %lan for getting inside. They find out from one of their scouting missions that 0na%e has "een %romoted to Headmaster at Hogwarts.

That e!ening Harry has another !ision from Voldemort, who is loo#ing for a man named 'regoro!itch, "ut he doesnt #now why. )ll he #nows is that Voldemort wants him, and "adly. The day they "rea# into the 5inistry is a hectic one. They ta#e 1olyjuice 1otion and disguise themsel!es as 5inistry wor#ers to get in. Theyre as#ed questions they dont #now the answers to, as#ed to do things they dont #now how to do, and now that they!e "een forced to s%lit u%, ha!e no idea how the others are doing in their quest to find Gm"ridges office. +inally, Harry finds her office "ut is dismayed to find that the loc#et is not there. He manages to find Ron and they "oth head down to the dungeons, where they #now Hermione was forced to go with Gm"ridge. Harry is shoc#ed to see that Gm"ridge is actually wearing the loc#et as shes trying %oor 5uggle?"orns in court. +inally, Harry cant listen to her a"use any longer and he 0tu%efies Gm"ridge and her team. He rescues the %oor 5uggle?"orns that almost surely would ha!e "een sent to )*#a"an or e!en worse, gets the loc#et, and hel%s them all esca%e. ,editChapter )/* The Thief (hen Harry comes to hes sur%rised to find them in a forest, and Ron is soa#ed with "loodH heFs "een s%linched so a "ig chun# of his shoulder was missing, and Hermione healed the wound with some dittany. Hermione ex%lains that one of the Death Eaters, Aaxley, gra""ed hold of her just as she was )%%arating them "ac# to 'rimmauld 1lace. He was ta#en along and she unwittingly let him into 'rimmauld 1lace, which means they couldnt go there. $n a s%lit second she )%%arated them out of the house and into the %lace where they had cam%ed during the Duidditch (orld /u%IHarryFs fourth year in HogwartsJ. They ha!e to stay in the forest now, since they cant e!er go "ac# to 'rimmauld 1lace, so Harry gets out their tent while Hermione casts %rotecti!e s%ells around where they are. (hile theyre in the tent they get out the loc#et and examine it. $t feels immensely strange to them to "e holding a %iece of Voldemorts soul, and the loc#et %ulses slightly, as if it contains his heart"eat as well. Harry %uts the Horcrux around his own nec# to #ee% it safe and Harry can feel the metal heart %ulsing on his chest, and irregular "eat with his own heart. That night, Harry is star!ing and dis%irited. Hes not as elated as he thought hed "e after stealing the Horcrux. He has no idea how to destroy this one, or where the other Horcruxes might "e. 0uddenly, his scar sears with %ain and he gets another !ision from Voldemort. Voldemort has found the foreign wand?ma#er, 'regoro!itch, and is torturing him for information a"out a thief that stole something from 'regoro!itch many years ago. Harry is !ery sur%rised to see this, "ecause he was sure that Voldemort had gone to lli!ander to find out why using a different wand Ito a!oid the %retection of Harry with the twin coresJ didnFt wor# "ecause 4uciusF wand was o"literated "y HarryFs, when HarryFs acted of itFs own accord. )nd so Harry thought Voldemort wanted to go to 'regoro!itch for ad!ice "ecause may"e he was the "etter

The loc#et, which they!e started ta#ing in turns wearing to #ee% safe, is ma#ing them all feel horri"le. (hen Hermione ma#es Harry ta#e off the Horcrux he feels so elated, li#e he can %roduce a thousand 1atronuses, unli#e when he was wearing it. )s time %asses they get no closer to figuring out the Horcrux riddle. +ood is often scarce, and Ron es%ecially does not hold u% well from "eing hungry all the time. Hes often argumentati!e with Harry and often %resents %ro"lem after %ro"lem without e!en trying to thin# of a solution. They search many of Voldemorts old haunts loo#ing for more Horcruxes, "ut they ne!er find any clues. ne night, in the middle of a fierce argument stemming from the lac# of food "etween Ron and Hermione, Harry hears a distur"ance outside the tent. They go out to in!estigate and disco!er some go"lins, Ted Ton#s, and Dean Thomas, their fellow 'ryffindor. )ll, it seems, are on the run. They hear a good "it of news a"out whats going on at Hogwarts and they find out from one of the go"lins that the sword of 'ryffindor thats hanging in the Headmasters office is a fa#e, and "ecause it was almost stolen, itFs now hidden in the 4estrangeFs !ault at 'ringotts. (here the real one is, no one #nows, and also the go"lin says that the real sword is go"lin?made. That night they %ull out of the hand"ag, the %ortrait of 1hineas Eigellus ta#en from HarryFs room in 'rimmauld 1lace. He tells him that go"lin?made %roducts a"sor" only what strengthens them, and also the last time the sword was remo!ed from itFs case was when Dum"ledore had used it to smash a ring. 0o the sword a"sor"ed the &asilis# !enom and Dum"ledore #new that so he used the sword to destroy the Horcrux. The 'ryffindor sword is what they need to destroy the Horcruxes. 4ater, howe!er, Harry and Ron get into another huge row, "ecause Ron thought that they were getting no?where and he thought that Harry actually #new what he was doing, and so Ron lea!es the quest to go "ac# home. ,editChapter )1* Godric8s Hollo: The next morning Harry cant "elie!e that Ron has really left them for good. Hermione is de!astated and she cried for wee#s after "egging Ron not to lea!e, and so Harry and Hermione %ac# u% and lea!e their cam%site with hea!y hearts. Ron does not show u%. )s the days %ass, Harry "ecomes ho%eless as the weight of what he still has left to do engulfs him. They still dont #now where the sword is, or where the other Horcruxes are. Harry and Hermione ma#e no mention of Ron, and their nights are silent and grim. ne night, wee#s later, as /hristmas is a%%roaching, they decide to chec# out 'odrics Hollow and see if they can find any information and clues there. Harry is anxious to !isit his home and his %arentsF gra!es, and hes ho%ing theyll get to tal# with &athilda &agshot, the magical historian who was a great friend of Dum"ledores. Harry and Hermione tal#ed themsel!es into "elei!ing Dum"ledore wanted them to go to 'odricFs Hollow, so they went. There is a %laque on the site telling a"out the death of 4ily and Lames, and how he, Harry, sur!i!ed the >illing /urse of 4ord Voldemort. They also are found "y &athilda &agshot and they follow her into her home, which is !ery dirty and smelly. 0he is !ery old, and they figure there is no one to ta#e care of her so thats why she ne!er cleans. &athilda ta#es Harry u%stairs alone. Hes con!inced that she has the sword to gi!e him, "ut "efore he #nows whats ha%%ening &athilda has turned into Voldemorts sna#e, EaginiM The sna#e coils itself around Harry, to #ee% him there for Voldemort. Hermione comes just in time to sa!e Harry. Harry #nows Voldemort is coming and that the sna#e was in &athilda the whole time, waiting for Harry to come, as Voldemort had #nown he would, to #ill him. He narrowly esca%es the sna#e, gra"s Hermione, and they )%%arate moments "efore Voldemort gets to them. HarryFs scar ex%lodes with %ain o!er Voldemorts rage, and Harry doesnt #now whats ha%%ening, or where he is, "ut somehow hes reli!ing the night of his %arentsF murders. Hes seeing that night as Voldemort saw it, through his eyes. (hen he comes to, Hermione tells him the worst news of all. His wand got destroyed "ac# at 'odrics Hollow. ,editChapter )4* The Life and Lies of +l"us !um"ledore Harry is de!astated "y the loss of his wand, and has no idea how hes su%%osed to defeat Voldemort now that his s%ecial wand is destroyed. He finds out from Hermione, howe!er, that the thief that Voldemort #ee%s seeing, the man who stole something from him so many years ago, is none other than a !ery young 'ellert 'rindelwald. He also finds out that Dum"ledore was !ery good friends with the wi*ard, 'rindewald. 'rindewald, Harry #nows, was the most famous Dar# (i*ard of all time until Voldemort emerged on the scene. 'rindewald was all in fa!or of wi*ards dominating o!er 5uggles, and Harry is shoc#ed to find out that, at least when he was younger, Dum"ledore agreed with himH Dum"ledore had said e!erything they were doing was Kfor the greater goodK, and that later "ecame 'rindelwaldFs slogan. They did duel famously later in life, "ut Harry cant sto% thin#ing a"out how little he truly #new )l"us Dum"ledore. This new information lea!es him feeling hollow and s%ent, and he wonders if Dum"ledore e!er truly cared a"out him at all. ,editChapter )5* The Sil%er !oe Theyre in the thic# of winter, and snow is falling hard and fast in the forests where Harry and Hermione are hiding. )s Harry is on watch one night outside the tent, he sees a sil!er light in the forest. He loo#s closer and sees a sil!er white doe. $t is "eautiful, and strangely familiar to Harry although he cant say why. The 1atronus "egins to %ic# her way "ac# into the forest, and Harry starts to follow her. 0he leads him to a small fro*en %ond and disa%%ears. (hen Harry loo#s into the %ond, he sees 'ryffindors sword dee% in the water.

The only way to get it, Harry #nows, is to go in %hysically and %ull it out, after all, only a true 'ryffindor could o"tain and use the sword. The water is ice cold, and snow is falling. )s his hands close around the hilt, the Horcrux tightens itself on HarryFs nec#, trying to cho#e him. Harry is sure he is going to drown, and is sa!ed "y Ron of all %eo%le. Ron has come "ac# to the quest and hes the one, Harry #nows, who is to ta#e %ossession of the sword and "rea# o%en the loc#et. The loc#et %uts u% a fight, howe!er, and when Harry o%ens it a !oice "egins s%ea#ing to Rons dee%est fears. $nstead of sta""ing it straight away, Ron listens, horrified, to his worst fears, that Hermione really lo!es Harry and not him, that Ron will always "e o!ershadowed "y e!eryone he #nows, that his mother doesnt really lo!e him. E!erything he always secretly thought is !oiced aloud through the loc#et. +inally, Ron sta"s the loc#et, in fury, with the real sword and its destroyed. Hermione is alternately o!erjoyed and furious to see Ron again. 0he rages at Ron for a"andoning them, and Ron finally tells the story of how he managed to find them again using Dum"ledores Deluminator. ,editChapter ,6* 'enophilius Lo%egood Hermione does not forgi!e Ron o!ernight for lea!ing them, "ut Harry is thrilled to ha!e him "ac#. Hes also excited that they managed to destroy another Horcrux, and hes feeling much "etter a"out their %rogress. Ron also fills him in that theres "een a Ta"oo %laced on Voldemorts name. (hoe!er says his name instantly gets mar#ed "y Death Eaters, which is why they!e "een a"le to find Harry so easily in the %ast. ne night Hermione announces that she wants to go see @eno 4o!egood, 4unas father and editor of The Dui""ler. He was wearing 'rindewalds sign at &ill and +leurs wedding, and Hermione is "ecoming con!inced that the sym"ol is im%ortant somehow. 0he wants to as# him a"out it. (hen they get to the 4o!egoodsF house, they tal# 5r. 4o!egood into hel%ing them out. He lea!es for a moment to go fetch 4una, and comes "ac#, offering them a drin#. He tells them that the sym"ol he wore to the wedding is really the sign of the Deathly Hallows. ,editChapter ,)* The Tale of the Three $rothers The Deathly Hallows is a childrens tale, "ut Harry has ne!er heard it. Hermione ta#es out the "oo# that Dum"ledore left her in his will and reads the entire tale to them. The story is a"out three "rothers who meet Death on their road late one night. They are each awarded a %ri*e from Death since they esca%ed him earlier "y not drowning in a dangerous ri!er. The first "rother as#s for a wand that will always win duels and allow the owner to esca%e death. (ithout question, Death gi!es it to him. The second "rother as#s for something that will "e a"le to recall others from death. Death %ic#s u% a stone and tells the second "rother that it now has the %ower to "ring "ac# the dead. The third "rother as#s for something that will ena"le him to hide from death. Death gi!es the third "rother his $n!isi"ility /loa#. @eno tells the three of them that the three o"jects, the wand, the stone, and the cloa#, ma#e u% the Deathly Hallows. (home!er %ossesses all three will "e a master of death. @eno also tells them that the $n!isi"ility /loa# is not a common one, "ut one that will hide the wearer eternally and not fade with time li#e most other cloa#s. The wand, called the Elder (and, is also !ery s%ecial "ut no one #nows where it could %ossi"ly "e.

The three wander u%stairs when @eno lea!es the room and they manage to find 4unas room. 0omething is wrong, howe!er. The room hasnt "een touched in months, and it doesnt loo# li#e 4una is home at all. (hen they confront @eno a"out it, he tells them that the 5inistry has ta#en 4una and @eno has already sent an owl to warn the 5inistry that Harry is at his house. )ll he wants, he says, is to ha!e his daughter "ac#. They "arely esca%e the Death Eaters that show u%, and Hermione sa!es them again "y )%%arating them out of there. ,editChapter ,,* The !eathly Hallo:s Theyre extremely worried that 4una has "een ta#en "y the 5inistry, "ut dont #now what they can do to hel% her. Hermione insists that their !isit to the 4o!egoodsF was a waste of time. 0he doesnt "elie!e the story of the three "rothers at all, "ut Harry is drawn to the fairy tale. The idea that he could conquer death and not "e #illed "y Voldemort %ulls on his imagination and gi!es him ho%e. He also figures out, howe!er, that this is what Voldemort is searching for. Voldemort wants the Elder (and to fight Harry with. The next wee# Harry "ecomes o"sessed with the Deathly Hallows. Hes sure that the stone is somehow hidden in the 0nitch that Dum"ledore left him, "ut he still cant figure out how to o%en it, and he still doesnt #now what the message B$ o%en at the closeC thats written on it means. Ron and Hermione "oth feel that Harry needs to "e concentrating on the Horcruxes and to forget a"out the Deathly Hallows. ne night Ron manages to tune their radio onto B1otterwatchC, a radio show o%erated "y +red and 'eorge and 4ee and a few others a"out the anti?Voldemort mo!ement. Theyre thrilled to hear their !oices again, and catch u% on the news of whats ha%%ening. )fter the show, Harry ma#es the mista#e of using Voldemorts name, and suddenly theyre surrounded "y a "unch of wi*ards. ,editChapter ,.* Malfoy Manor Hermione quic#ly does a s%ell on Harry to ma#e his face swell u% so it loo#s li#e hes "een stung "y "ees. The 0natchers dont recogni*e him at first, "ut they quic#ly reali*e that he is Harry 1otter. They decide to ta#e him to Voldemort %ersonally, and they "ring them all to 5alfoy 5ansion. nce inside, Earcissa 5alfoy ma#es Draco loo# closely at Harry to !erify that its really him. Draco doesnt want to loo# at Harry, and mum"les that it could "e him, "ut hes not sure. &ellatrix 4estrange sends them all downstairs to the cellar %rison while she #ee%s Hermione u% with her. )fter the rest of them are loc#ed u%, they can hear Hermione "eing tortured for information. $t is gut wrenching to hear her screams, and they cant figure out a way to hel% her. They disco!er that they are in the dungeon with 4una and lli!ander, the wand?ma#er, as well as Dean Thomas and a go"lin named 'ri%hoo#. $n des%eration Harry gra"s his %ouch and out falls a tiny shard of mirror, from which he thin#s he can see Dum"ledores eye loo#ing at him. He screams for hel% and suddenly the eye is gone. 0uddenly, Do""y is in the dungeon with them and Harry cant "elie!e it. Do""y ta#es all the %risoners to &ill and +leurs seaside cottage, and while hes gone, Harry and Ron are left in the dungeon alone. 0uddenly, (ormtail o%ens the door and they manage to esca%e. (ormtail is strangled to death "y his own sil!er hand when he fails to #ill Harry. They rescue Hermione and Do""y shows u% just in time to ta#e them to &ill and +leurs cottage.

(hen they get there they are all heart"ro#en to see that Do""y was sta""ed "y &ellatrixFs #nife just as he was hel%ing them )%%arate out. He dies in Harrys arms. ,editChapter ,/* The Wandmaker Harry is de!astated "y Do""ys death, and when he "uries him he does so "y hand, without using magic. (hen they all come out to lay Do""y to rest, they than# him for sa!ing their li!es. )fter the funeral, Harry questions 'ri%hoo# the go"lin a"out the sword, which he managed to esca%e with. Harry needs 'ri%hoo# to hel% him "rea# into 'ringotts "an#, "ecause he now thin#s that another Horcrux is hidden in &ellatrix 4estranges !ault. 'ri%hoo# tells them hell thin# a"out hel%ing them and let them #now when he decides. Harry also questions the wandma#er, lli!ander, as#ing him if its %ossi"le to fix his "ro#en wand. lli!ander cannot fix it. lli!ander does tell him, howe!er, that Voldemort really is see#ing the Elder (and so he can e!ade death. 0oon after questioning lli!ander, Harry "egins to truly understand what hes meant to do. Hes su%%osed to destroy the Horcruxes and not go after the Elder (and. He then has a !ision of what Voldemorts doing. Voldemort is at Hogwarts and has figured out that Dum"ledore was the %ossessor of the Elder (and. He "rea#s o%en Dum"ledores tom" and ta#es the wand for himself. ,editChapter ,0* Shell Cottage 'ri%hoo# has finally agreed to hel% them "rea# into 'ringotts. The only hitch is that he wants 'ryffindors sword in return. Harry agrees, "ut inwardly squirms at the thought of his white lie. He will gi!e the sword to 'ri%hoo#, "ut he doesnt tell him when. ne night 4u%in shows u% suddenly and announces that he and Ton#s ha!e had a "oy. They!e named him Ted, and the grou% gets to cele"rate for one night. 4u%in as#s Harry if hell "e a godfather to the "a"y, and Harry agrees. ,editChapter ,1* Gringotts Their %lan is sim%le3 'o with 'ri%hoo# with Hermione disguised as &ellatrix 4estrange and get into her !ault that way. They!e got her wand IHarry stole it during the tussle at 5alfoy 5ansionJ and e!en got some of her hair for the 1olyjuice 1otion. (hen they )%%arate into the 4ea#y /auldron theyre sur%rised to see how "ad Diagon )lley loo#s. There are many more sho%s dealing in the Dar# )rts, and most of the nice ones ha!e closed down. )ltogether, its not a friendly %lace to "e anymore. Theyre disco!ered to "e im%osters and the treasure in the !ault starts multi%lying e!ery time its touched. Harry manages to s%ot what they came for ?? Huffle%uffs cu%, which he is sure is a Horcrux, and he just manages to get it "efore theyre all crushed to death. Chapter ,3* The Final Hiding Place (hen the dragon finally gets them down low enough they jum% into a la#e, somewhere far, far away from 4ondon. nce they!e treated their many injuries they discuss the fact that they lost the sword they so des%erately needed to destroy the Horcrux. 0uddenly Harry has a !ision of Voldemort, who just found out that they too# the golden cu% from the !ault. His rage is a%o%lectic. He #ills just a"out e!eryone around him, and he cant "elie!e Harry #nows so much a"out his %ast and his Horcruxes. Voldemort now is no longer sure the rest of his Horcruxes are safe and reali*es he must go chec# on all of them, immediately, to ma#e sure. (hen Harry comes to he reali*es that the last %hysical Horcrux, other than the sna#e Eagini, is at Hogwarts. That is where they ha!e to go next, and soon, "ecause Voldemort will "e chec#ing to ma#e sure its safe. ,editChapter ,4* The Missing Mirror )s soon as they )%%arate into Hogsmeade Village a scream rents the air, alerting the Death Eaters to their %resence. Theyre ta#en in "y the "ar#ee% of the Hogs Head, who hides them from the Death Eaters and ma#es u% an excuse for the alarm going off. nce hes thrown them off the trail he closes the door and loo#s Harry, Ron, and Hermione u% and down. Harry suddenly recogni*es him as Dum"ledores "rother. He finds out that )"erforth is the one who sent Do""y to rescue them when Harry shouted into the mirror. )"erforth also tells them the truth a"out Dum"ledores %ast, and agrees to hel% them get into Hogwarts. He s%ea#s to the %ortrait of his dead sister, )riana. 0he lea!es and "rings "ac# none other than Ee!ille 4ong"ottom. ,editChapter ,5* The Lost !iadem Ee!ille is o!erjoyed to see them "ut Harry is horrified at Ee!ille, who loo#s li#e he recently got "eat almost to death. Ee!ille leads them through the %ortrait down a long, dar# hallway. $ts the last secret %assageway into Hogwarts. )s they wal# Ee!ille fills them in on whats "een ha%%ening at Hogwarts. $ts "een horri"le, and the three cant "elie!e at how different things are at the school. (hen they get there they are sur%rised to come out in the Room of Requirement. There is a cheering crowd waiting for them, and theyre all ha%%y to see their old friends again. Theres an argument, howe!er. Harry #nows that they dont ha!e much time, "ut e!eryone wants to hel% him. He insists they stay "ehind, and he gets e!en more %anic#ed when more and more %eo%le start %ouring in from the Hogs Head. 4una, Dean, +red, 'eorge, 'inny, 4ee Lordan, /ho /hang all come clim"ing through. Harry, with some urging from Ron and Hermione, agrees to let them hel%. He figures out that theyre loo#ing for Ra!enclaws diadem, a ty%e of crown she wore. (hen 4una ta#es Harry to the Ra!enclaw common room to loo# at a %icture of the lost diadem, theyre met "y one of the Death Eater %rofessors, who instantly touches the Dar# 5ar# to alert Voldemort that they found Harry. ,edit-

Chapter .6* The Sacking of Se%erus Snape They stun the /arrows and "egin to tell 1rofessor 5c'onagall what theyre u% to. They tell her that they must find the lost diadem "efore Voldemort gets into the castle. 5c'onagall tells Harry that she and the others will secure the castle against Voldemort as long as they can so that Harry can search for the diadem. )s theyre wal#ing through the hall they run into 0na%e. He and 1rofessor 5c'onagall duel fiercely, magic so quic# that Harry has ne!er seen the li#e of it. (hen the other %rofessors show u% to hel% 5c'onagall, 0na%e jum%s out one of the windows to join Voldemort, who is now just outside the grounds. The %rofessors immediately "egin %utting charms and s%ells all around the castle to hold off Voldemort. (hen Harry gets "ac# to the Room of Requirement hes shoc#ed to see that e!en more %eo%le ha!e shown u%, including 4u%in, >ingsley, and Rons whole family. +inally, e!en 1ercy shows u% and a%ologi*es to his family, saying that he was a deluded idiot and that hes sorry hes "een such a "ig %rat for so long. His family forgi!es him instantly, and they all lea!e to join the "attle together. ,editChapter .)* The $attle of Hog:arts $n the 'reat Hall teachers and %refects are snea#ing the younger students out of the school "efore the "attle "egins. The rder and the %rofessors ha!e agreed u%on a "attle %lan and start s%litting u%. 5any students who are o!erage ha!e stayed to fight, and theyre all %re%aring for the "attle that will come soon. The air is tense with ex%ectation and still Harry, who is starting to %anic, does not e!en #now where to "egin loo#ing for the diadem. )s he races through the hallways he has a "rainwa!e. E!eryone #ee%s saying the diadem hasnt "een seen "y anyone in li!ing memory. That does not, howe!er, include ghosts. He hunts down Eic#, the 'ryffindor ghost, and as#s him a"out it. Eic# %oints him towards the 'ray 4ady, who is Ra!enclaws ghost, and Harry as#s her a"out the diadem. 0he tells him that she was Ra!enclaws own daughter, and that she was the one who stole the diadem from her mother. He runs into Hagrid after tal#ing with the 'ray 4ady, and suddenly he #nows exactly where the diadem is. He reali*es he saw it last year in the Room of Requirement, when he went in to hide his 1otions "oo#. $ts a tiara, on a stone "ust, in that jun#y old room. He cant "elie!e it. )s hes racing to the Room of Requirement he finally finds Ron and Hermione, who had the "rilliant idea to go down into the /ham"er of 0ecrets and get some "asilis# fangs, which is one of the only other things that can destroy the Horcrux. Hes ama*ed at their "rilliancy. Hermione has already destroyed the cu%. The "attle has "egun and they race e!en harder to get there. (hen they finally get the Room of Requirement o%en, they "egin searching for the stone "ust that Harry #nows the diadem sits on. Theyre disgusted to find out that Draco 5alfoy, /ra""e, and 'oyle are in the room as well. They "egin to duel and Harry just manages to gra" the tiara "efore the %iles of jun# "ury it fore!er. The room catches on fire from a s%ell and they manage to get out, sa!ing 5alfoy and 'oyle in the %rocess. /ra""e is "urned to death "y the +iendfyre. )fter they get out they reali*e the tiara got destroyed in the magical fire, which ma#es them really ha%%y, "ut suddenly 1ercy and +red come into !iew, dueling with two Death Eaters in the hallway. 0uddenly the wall is "lasted o%en from the outside, and +red is #illed in the ex%losion.

,editChapter .,* The lder Wand They ha!e to drag +reds "ody out the way, and Harry cant %ermit himself to grie!e. The castle is under serious attac#, and the last Horcrux to "e destroyed is Voldemorts sna#e, Eagini. Harry allows himself to go into Voldemorts mind, and disco!ers that hes in the 0hrie#ing 0hac#. They throw on the $n!isi"ility /loa# and wea!e their way through the "attle. They ma#e it to the (hom%ing (illow and head into the tunnel that leads to the 0hrie#ing 0hac#. (hile they are in there, they hear 0na%e tal#ing with Voldemort. Voldemort wants to #now why the Elder (and wont wor# for him li#e its su%%osed to. He cant do the extraordinary magic that he thought hed "e a"le to, and he "lames 0na%e for this. &ecause 0na%e is the one who #illed Dum"ledore, 0na%e is the wands true owner. He therefore must #ill 0na%e in order for the wand to wor# %ro%erly, and he does this immediately, with no remorse, setting Eagini on 0na%e. Voldemort lea!es the shac# and the three of them rush in to see 0na%e dying. 0na%e, howe!er, gi!es Harry one last thing "efore he is gone for good3 he gi!es him his memories. )fter that, 0na%e tells Harry to loo# at him. 0na%e stares at HarryFs green eyes "efore his own eyes fade away. ,editChapter ..* The Prince8s Tale &efore Harry can e!en wonder what 0na%e just ga!e him, he hears Voldemorts !oice magically magnified. He calls for his forces to retreat, and tells Harry that he has one hour to surrender. $f he doesnt, 4ord Voldemort will enter the "attle himself, and #ill e!ery single %erson in Hogwarts. They ma#e their way "ac# u% to the castle to thin# of what to do. )ll the casualties ha!e "een %ut in the 'reat Hall, and Harry is horrified to see how many ha!e lost their li!es. +red, he #new, "ut hes shoc#ed to see "oth Ton#s and 4u%in there, laid out side "y side. Harry cant "reathe, seeing e!eryone who died for him, and he races away to Dum"ledores office. His sadness is too much to handle. He decides to loo# at 0na%es memory to see what hed "een trying to tell him. (hat he sees is so shoc#ing that he doesnt e!en #now how to com%rehend it. 0na%e, it turns out, had "een in lo!e with his mother, 4ily, since he was a "oy. He worshi%%ed her, and e!en though he lost her to Lames, Harrys father, he ne!er sto%%ed caring a"out her. (hile Harry was at Hogwarts 0na%e did whate!er he could to %rotect him, and it was all done out of lo!e for his mother. Harry also sees that last year, after Dum"ledore too# the ring Horcrux that shri!eled his arm, he had a limited amount of time to li!e in s%ite of 0na%es "est efforts to remo!e the %oison. Dum"ledore #new that 5alfoy had "een %ut to the tas# of #illing him, and as#ed 0na%e if he would do it when the time came, since he was dying anyway. E!ents and memories unfold, and Harry sees that 0na%e was loyal, that he always was, and that %erha%s he e!en cared for Harry in s%ite of his "est efforts to hide it. Harry also finds out that a %iece of Voldemorts soul is inside him, and has "een since he was an infant and Voldemort tried to #ill him. He finds out that he must die in order for Voldemort to "e truly defeated, and Voldemort has to "e the one to do it. ,edit-

Chapter ./* The Forest +gain His heart seems to "eat harder, with more !igor, now that he #nows he must die. Eow that he #nows, he feels more ali!e than e!er, and wonders if it will hurt. )s he sits in the office coming to gri%s with the fact that he must die, and soon, he #nows that he wont duc# out. Too many %eo%le ha!e died for him already. Eo more. He cant "ear to say good"ye to anyone, so he doesnt. He sees Ee!ille on his way out, and tells him that if something ha%%ens to Harry, he must #ill Voldemorts sna#e at all costs. )s he wal#s across the grounds towards the +or"idden +orest hes flooded with memories of his time there. E!erything is suddenly so %recious, and he wishes more than anything that he just had more time to li!e his life. He reali*es suddenly that the 0nitch might o%en now that he is a"out to die, and when he tries it sure enough, it o%ens. The Resurrection 0tone falls out. (hen he turns it, his %arents, 0irius, and 4u%in all a%%ear, ghostly white in the night. They stay with him as he wal#s to the middle of the forest to meet his doom. (hen he finally finds Voldemort, it only ta#es a moment. There is a flash of green light, and then nothing at all. ,editChapter .0* 7ing8s Cross (hen he o%ens his eyes he is alone in a "right mist. The more he loo#s around the more it loo#s li#e hes in some domed room. He thin#s that he is in >ingFs /ross. He sees an ugly, small crying child and "efore he can do anything a"out it, Dum"ledore a%%ears. Dum"ledore tells Harry that he IHarryJ is really not dead, and ex%lains to him that "ecause Harry let Voldemort #ill him, that %iece of Voldemort that was inside Harry is now gone. Harry still doesnt understand why hes not dead, howe!er, and Dum"ledore tells him that "ecause Voldemort used Harrys "lood to regenerate himself, 4ilys %rotection is now inside "oth of them. His "ody #ee%s her sacrifice ali!e, and its "ecause of this that Harry is still ali!e. Dum"ledore also tells Harry a"out the Hallows, and how all this time Harry has had the magical /loa# from the legend. He ex%lains all a"out his true %ast, his duel with 'rindelwald, and their quest to o"tain all three Hallows for themsel!es. He is sad and "itter a"out his %ast, "ut is determined not to ha!e any more secrets from Harry. He also tells Harry that he has a choice to stay or go "ac#, and Harry decides to go "ac#. &efore going "ac#, he loo#s at the child for the last time when Dum"ledore tells him to %ity the li!ing, not the dead. ,editChapter .1* + Fla: -n The Plan (hen he o%ens his eyes again hes "ac# in the forest, facedown on the ground. He hears Voldemort, who is on the ground as well, telling someone to ma#e sure hes dead. 0oft hands touch his face, and a whis%er as#ing if Draco is ali!e. He whis%ers that he is, and Earcissa yells "ac# to the crowd that Harry is, indeed, dead. Voldemort ma#es Hagrid carry him "ac# u% to the castle to show e!eryone that hes dead. (hen they reach the grounds all the fighters of Hogwarts come out. Harry is still %retending to "e dead, and his heart hurts to hear their grief for him. )s Voldemort tortures Ee!ille for trying to defy him, se!eral things ha%%en at once. /entaurs flood the grounds, shooting arrows at the Death Eaters, 'raw% comes "ursting out of the forest, and Ee!ille manages to slice off Eaginis head with 'ryffindors sword, which he %ulls out of the 0orting Hat.

) new "attle rages on, and Voldemort runs into Hogwarts. Gnder his cloa#, Harry follows him, intent on ending it for good. The "attle is fierce, and Harry winds in and out, determined to get to Voldemort. He watches in ama*ement as 5rs. (easley #ills &ellatrix 4estrange in an e%ic duel. Voldemort turns to #ill 5rs. (easley in return, and Harry un!eils himself at last. The entire hall eru%ts in cheers and then silence as he and Voldemort circle each other, %re%aring to duel at last. Harry tells Voldemort many interesting things as they circle each other, and he tries to get him to feel some remorse for what hes done. Voldemort, of course, doesnt "elie!e anything Harry tells him, and when the s%ell is finally cast its o!er in a moment. Voldemort is dead, and Harry is left ali!e, the true master of the Elder (and. )fter its o!er Harry wants nothing "ut to "e alone. He snea#s out with Ron and Hermione in order to tell them e!erything that ha%%ened. They go u% to Dum"ledores office for one last tal# with the Headmasters %ortrait, and Harry decides to %ut "ac# the Elder (and "ecause it causes more trou"le than its worth. Dum"ledore, it turns out, agrees with him. &efore returning the Elder (and, howe!er, Harry uses it one last time to re%air his "ro#en wand. ,editpilogue* )5 ;ears Later Harry and 'inny ha!e arri!ed at >ings /ross to see their #ids off to school. 4ily, their daughter, is not quite old enough, "ut Lames and )l"us are lea!ing. $ts )l"uss first year, and hes !ery ner!ous that he wont "e in 'ryffindor li#e his father. They run into Ron and Hermione, who are also there dro%%ing their #ids off. E!erything ends ha%%ily e!er after.
