What is our strategy?

The St. Augustine Young Adults Association (YAA) is a diverse group of young adults in the parish and in the community, aged 2040. We have some members who fall out of that age range, but are interested in growing in their faith with the young adult community. We are married and single, male and female, working professionals and full-time students. All who identify with this age group are welcome to participate in our activities.

Who are we?

We aim to provide spiritual, social, and service opportunities for the young adults in the parish, through bible study, spiritual reflection, socials, and service activities, and an annual retreat.

What do we do?
We have about 50 active members and hold meetings and activities at least once a month. Regular monthly meetings: we discuss a range of topics, including Lent, sexuality, vocation and professions, social justice, and politics Bible study: we are currently reviewing A Quick Journey Through the Bible with Fr. Pat Annual retreat: we conduct an overnight retreat each year with one of our parish Priests to build community and reflect on our faith Social activities: we have gone bowling, held game nights, holiday parties, happy hours, and other social activities Community service: in the past we have helped the youth of the parish and sung Christmas Carols at a nearby nursing home

When and where do we meet?

We meet for bible study the second Sunday of each month at 11:30 am at the Gingras Center (1419 V Street NW). Monthly meetings to discuss faith topics with the pastor are held the fourth Sunday of each month at 2:15 pm in the Gingras Center. Other activities are scheduled at least every other month. Location and time are determined at the monthly meetings.

How and when did we get started?

The YAA has existed off and on for many years. The most recent group has been gathering for about a year and half.
