Executive Director Job Description About Leadership SAISD Founded

in 2012, Leadership SAISDs mission is to inform, empower and inspire civically minded individuals to become leaders within the SAISD community. We envision a community of shared responsibility strengthening educational opportunities for all children in SAISD. Position Overview Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic, program and operational responsibility for the establishment of the Leadership SAISD organization as well as planning and execution of its primary program, a 6-month leadership training program that runs twice a year. Responsibilities Leadership & Management: Ensure ongoing local programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals. Actively engage and energize Leadership SAISD nonprofit volunteers, board members, program participants, partnering organizations, and funders. Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Directors: serve as ex-officio of each committee, seek and build board involvement with strategic direction for the processes by which the organization is established and the key milestones for developing and executing the leadership training program. Set high-performance standards for Leadership SAISD culture and program delivery. Ensure effective systems to track scaling progress, and regularly evaluate program components, so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents Fundraising & Communications: Expand local revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing program operations while sufficiently planning for the future. The various types of fundraising include, but are not limited to: Writing grant applications to reach a wide range of potential and current 1

donors; Making risk analyses and balancing time-cost ratios to focus effort on the most appropriate fundraising activities with the highest chance of success; Developing new and imaginative fundraising activities, many of which involve organizing events. Deepen and refine all aspects of communicationsfrom web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand and enhancing public relations. Use external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities. Strategic Planning: Begin to build partnerships, establishing relationships with funders and political and community leaders. Be an external local and possibly regional and national presence that publishes and communicates program results with an emphasis on the successes of the local program. Qualifications The ED will be thoroughly committed to Leadership SAISDs mission and vision. All candidates should have proven leadership and relationship management experience. Concrete demonstrable experience and other qualifications include: Bachelors degree with at least 5 years of leadership experience. A track record of effectively leading an outcomes-based organization and programs; ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth. Proven non-profit administration & fundraising experience. Experience working with or within an Urban School District (or large urban institution). Experience developing and evaluating long and short term program curricula. Comfortable analyzing local, state and federal education policy Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation. Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget. Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships. Strong marketing and public relations experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures. Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills. Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning. Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
