(After pressing space( sym) it should take you to the screen) 4. select 1x and press ok. I think since its in EV mode, it won't let you receive any calls. If you noticed that if you make a call, the symbol change to 1x. Disarm EVDO/1xRTT if you re not using it: The XV6700 connection manager toggles between WiFi and EVDO/1xRTT connectivity. Verizon does not offer a no data service. The lowest monthly cost is metered ser vice paid by the Kbyte. When you turn off WiFi, it automatically turns on EVDO. If you then use Internet Explorer or any network application that connects to the Internet, the call will go via EVDO instead of WiFi and you might get a surp rise on the monthly bill. If you don t plan to use EVDO/1xRTT, then delete it: Settings -> Connections -> Connections- > Manage Existing Connections Push and hold the pen on top of data network until the option delete pops up Select delete. You can turn off that service beep: Start > Settings > Phone > Services tab > Alert (at the bottom of the menu) Turn it off. Setup Outlook email. Open Programs, and ActiveSync. Select Menu and Configure Server. Enter "webmail.copart.com" and select "requires SSL". Click Next. Enter your username and password. Click Next. Select what items you wish to sync from Exchange. Click Finish. You may wish to set the sync schedule in Menu -> Schedule. Setup Internet browsing. Start -> Settings -> Connections tab -> Connections Add new Modem connection. Number to dial #777 Username: your phone number + @vzw3g.com Password: vzw no domain. Steps: Hard reboot the phone. This is done by holding the two soft keys and pressing th e reset button. Hit "Y" to continue. Go through the screen calibration, zone and password screens. When you get to th e "Complete" blue screen where it asks you to tap to start using the device, put the stylus on the reset button but don't press it. Tap on the screen. You will get a message saying that the OEM (Verizon) customizations will be installed on 3 seconds. Hit reset as soon as you see the message and you're all set. When the

phone reboots you will have a fully functional and unbranded phone without all the garbage Verizon adds to it. Wifi/phone can be used at the same time, there a re no longer any locks. Obex may work as well, I have no way to test it. Also, y ou get some extra menu items here and there. Works flawlessly. If you do need some of the crap Verizon installs, open up the Extended ROM parti tion and install it by clicking on the cabs. Don't run the remove. cab. Accessing the extended ROM is easy, you just need to goto registry and change 2 keys to unhide it. When this is done, reset and you will see the Extended ROM in File Explorer. From there, you can run all the needed cabs. No need to run any ROM unlockers, files cannot be deleted from this partition so there is no risk o f losing anything. Btw, the MMS stuff takes up like 5MB. I don't use it and see no reason to pay Verizon money to send these useless messages. "How would i access the extended ROM cabs, etc. after removing the VZ stuff?" Yo u are not removing anything, you're just not installing the customizations. for 15 seconds, then perform the soft-reset. Then select the Services tab and scroll down until you see either NAM select or Switch NAM and the tap Get Settings... Okey dokey. Well I've found something that might help you. I can't actually test these settings myself as far as changing the settings go but I can tell you wha t to get and how to do it. OK. What you'll need: CDMA Workshop (http://www.cdma-ware.com) 6700 Drivers ( can be found here: http://members.driverguide.com/drive...riverid =333184) You need to get the drivers first so your computer can recognize the phone w/ a com port. To install the drivers visit this site (i tested the procedure to make sure and it does work) http://ppc6700users.com/forums/viewt...8c33cf4ae52a45 After you have the drivers installed make sure you have CDMA Workshop and make s ure your COM Port for the Qualcomm Diagnostic Interface is 5 or below. Once you have that done open CDMA Workshop and under Com Settings (AT Mode) sele ct the com port you chose for Qualcomm Diagnostic, once you do that select Conne ct, then Read.

If you get an error saying Failed... COM Port # doesn't exist just restart you'r e computer. After you have the settings read from the phone you should see a bunch of inform ation on the left side underneath Phone Information Select the 'Other' tab and you will see PRL as well as a drop down box with NAM1 and NAM2. Select the NAM you want for your other service and load the write the PRL to it. Once you have that done go to the 'NAM' tab and select the NAM you want to edit and click 'Read' You should see your phone's information being read, once it's read change the MI N and Directory number to whatever you need them to be and Write it back to the phone. That should be it. I haven't tested this yet, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. You can edit your NAM settings by first determining your MSL then: Send-##MSL-Send MSL=your six digit MSL. Something is weird if it's not showing bars when you have 50% or better receptio n. Mine goes from 1 to 4 bars, depending on signal in a given area, and it's sim ilar to the Treo 700w and other Verizon phones (except the mega-RF Moto e815 whi ch tops them all). When the phone has -95 db signal strength (equiv. to 25% sign al strength) it shows one bar. At -70 db and better it shows 4 bars (similar to other phones). How do you check the db levels on this phone? FieldTrial.exe in the Windows directory And FieldTrial.exe is a hidden file, so you'll need a 3rd party file manager lik e Resco's or Midnight Commander to see it and run it. Open file explorer, navigate to the windows directory and then hit the menu butt on (right softkey) . Choose "Show All Files" and then find "FieldTrial.exe" and see what your signal is then. I've noticed that the xv6700's signal meter as far as the number of bars goes is almost useless at worst and wildly inaccurate at best. Fieldtrial gives you the best reading of what your signal really is. Case in point, I've often seen signal in the low 80's and the phone shows 0 bars of s ignal. In case you're not sure where to look, your signal strength will be next to "Rx Power" and the lower the number after the negative sign, the better. I'm showing -79dB right now, which is decent. I've found I can hold a call reliably up to about 100dB at which point it can get sketchy. If you're in a non-EVDO area, then I guess changing it to 1x might help a little bit with battery life but I don't see how or why it would help increase signal strength. You're getting perfectly good signal, it's just that the "bars" don't reflect it. Either way, you dial ##778 on your phone, then hit talk, hit edit, e nter 000000 (six zeroes) for the unlock code and then there's a drop down on the top left. Change it to "modem settings". Find "preferred mode" and change it fr om "automatic" to "CDMA only". That should lock it down to 1x data only. You mig

ht even want to change HDR Hybrid preferred to disable, but I'm not so sure if t hat's necessary. Here are some suggestions to what could be the problem: (At your own risk, of co urse; I can't be held responsible for any changes you make) Update your PRL or re-run the activation. *228 + send. Circuit precedence - There is a call priority code you can put in that is suppos ed to force calls to interrupt both 1xRTT and 1xEVDO. I think most phones ship t his way already, though. Slot Cycle Index - There may be a problem with your phone's network polling (kno wn as Slot Cycle Index), although I've never heard of a case as severe as yours. Fortunately, the phone component of the XV-6700 allows you to configure this se tting. Try following the VERIZON directions in the PPC6700Users thread, linked t o above, to see if it makes a difference. Get the latest ROM if you do not have it. There is a thread in this forum that t alks about it and shows which version numbers will appear on your phone's bootup screen. Check it. If you don't have the latest ROM, upgrade to it. It's worth i t and fixes lots of issues people used to have. I changed setting in ESPT->Modem Setting-HDR Hybrid Prefered to Enable, It was d isable, & prefered mode to Automatic, now I am getting incomming calls in EVDO & stay on Verizon Wireless provider while I make a call. Registry tweak to store the Pocket Internet Explorer data on your Mini-SD EDIT: The following post is a registry tweak to store the Pocket Internet Explor er data on your Mini-SD card instead of the internal storage. It currently resul ts in a PocketIE error where it crashes and closes immediately after loading a p age. Clearing the data using the options in PocketIE solves the problem temporar ily. ok here's what i've figured out... (i suggest backing up your registry before changing anything, as always) find this key: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Exp lorer\Shell Folders\ 3 values are here: \Windows\Profiles\Guest\History \Windows\Profiles\Guest\Cookies \Windows\Profiles\Guest\Temporary Internet Files Create a folder on your storage card for all three and edit the values above: I used: \Storage Card\My Documents\IE\History \Storage Card\My Documents\IE\Cookies \Storage Card\My Documents\IE\Temporary Internet Files After doing this, I ran PocketIE and browsed a few websites and it appears that the temporary files are now being stored on my storage card! Let me know how thi

s works for you... you should be able to clear your Windows\Profiles\Guest folder now...it had been saving my gmail login/pw and when i changed the registry to bounce it to the st orage card, it no longer remembered...so it's not using these folders anymore. My last question would be about the folder \Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Con tent.IE5 - but that folder, for me, appears to be only taking about 20kb. good luck...let me know how this works for you guys. edit: i just found that, after making these changes, if you go to clear your tem porary internet files through pocketIE, it will clear the storage card folders.. .if you want to clear your windows/profiles folder (which you should, to get all that space back), either do it before making these changes, or do a soft reset and use file explorer to delete the files right afterwards. Download the fi le below, un-zip, put your phone in bootloader mode (hold record button and powe r button, press the soft reset button), and run APACUpgradeUt_noID. Follow the o nscreen instructions, then when finished, perform a soft reset instead of a hard reset (this way you wont lose all of your data). It will tell you to do a hard reset, but believe me, a soft reset will word just fine. This will work for all apache's on any carrier I'm flashing back to stock 1.10 rom. If you want the factory stock rom, download the original factory rom from UTStar's website, open the APA*.exe using Winrar (maybe winzip too?). Extract the \OutputFile\radio_.nbf. This is your 1.10 radio ROM. Then I used the same package phoenix has (1st post in this thread) and overwrote THAT radio_. nbf with the UTStar version and ran the program as usual. I suggest you flash back to the original radio ROM for your carrier. Just go to www.utstar.com and download the latest rom release for your particular carrier, extract it with winrar and delete the nk.nbf and ms_.nbf files. Then run the ROM UpgradeUT.exe and it will reflash the original radio ROM (takes a while, at lea st 5 minutes if not longer). Then once that is done see if you get any difference in your signal meter. If no change than what you're seeing is unrelated to the radio ROM. The first file is a zip while the second is an exe, but that makes no difference . (The exe is really a self-extracting zip or rar.) For either of them, point to the file in windows, right click and open with winrar, winzip, or other suitabl e unpacker. Extract the three nbf files (nk.nbf, ms.nbf, and radio.nbf) and drop them into the c:\BuildOS\Upgrade\NoID_RUU folder. Then double-click APACUpgrade Ut_noID.exe after placing your phone in bootloader and connecting . wifi on while the phone is on. Go to the key HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SERVICES\WirelessMGR and change MutexFlag to 0. soft reset. You ll now be able to have wifi on while the phone is on. from 1

Enable BT & USB DUN Go to the phone application and dial ##3328873 (FEATURE) and hit dial it will as k for your unlock code, so enter 000000 (six zeroes) EPST will popup and you ll se e two entries: Enable Wmodem and Enable BT DUN. Highlight each in turn and click

edit on the bottom right, change both to enabled. Push ok and it will prompt yo u to soft reset. After soft resetting, you can then dialup via Bluetooth or USB cable. In order to use the USB cable, you ll need the CDMA USB modem drivers which are on the 6700 product CD under \OEM\APPS\Drivers\CDMA USB Modem. Or download them here: CDMA USB modem drivers. It comes with a dialer program that you don t n ecessarily need to use. However, if you re using the USB cable, you have to start the wmodem program on your pocketPC to keep it from trying to activesync. It s loc ated in \windows\wmodem.exe. Run this before you connect the handheld to your PC via USB. Then you can just setup a DUN connection in windows to dial #777, use your 10-digit number @vzw3g.com as your username and vzw as the password. Once t he connection is setup (assuming you re using a manual connection in windows) clic k on the setup button in the connection under USB CDMA modem and change the COM po rt speed to whatever the highest setting you have is. After that, you should be able to dial up just fine. Eliminate accidentally dialing #777, if you don't have the unlimited plan Add a user name to the Data Network connect ion, without any password. In this way, when ever the phone attempts to dial #77 7, a password screen pops up. You can click cancel, if it isn't intentional, or just click "OK", and it will then complete the connection. start - settings - connections - connections - Manage existing connections (for me, this is under the Verizon Wireless heading) edit the Data Network Connect th at has the #777 number., click next - next then put in a username (ANY name will do), and NOTHING else. Force EV-DO/1X, quicker ring response To do this, you will need your MSL, which only Sprint (or your provider) can pro vide you. Verizons cods is 000000 Open up the phone app and dial ##778 (PST). Yo u will be asked to enter your MSL. Enter it, and you will be brought into the pr ovisioning of your phone. From the top left, select Modem Settings. On this page , your Slot Cycle Index (SCI) is how often your phone polls the tower for incomi ng calls, etc. This value is 1.28 seconds multiplied by 2^value (i.e 0=1.28 secs , 1=2.56secs) with 0 fastest, 7 slowest. The default is 2, but lowering it to 1 hasn't noticeably affected my battery life, and roughly 2.5 second (SCI 1) respo nse time is far more reasonable than roughly 5 seconds (SCI 2). Also on this page is your preferred operation mode. The Default is Automatic, wh ich is the best available mode (EV that will roll back to 1X when EV is unavaila ble). There are times when you might be in a fringe area and your mode may cycle frequently and this can seriously drain your battery. Setting this to HDR will force EV-DO only if you demand an EV-DO connection. Changing this setting to CDM A Only will force the phone to ignore an EV-DO tower and maintain only a 1xRTT c onnection. Doing this will confirm that the Poc ket PC still works, even though the touch screen is not. When I did it, the butt ons began to work and I browsed through a bunch of screens. However, if someone loosens the screws and the touch screen works again, it's an unnecessary step. I used ActiveSync to remove the short-cut "welcome" found in the Windows / S etup directory. It points to welcome.com in the Windows directory. That's the pr ogram that provides the set-up screen and runs the align program. Removing the s hort-cut in the Windows / Setup directory is completely recoverable. If you then do a hard reset, the system will replace it automatically. You can even cut-pas te it to your PC through ActiveSync and paste it back again. When you go through the set-up / align in the normal way, the system automatically removes it. If y our Pocket PC is already aligned and working normally, you will not find a welco me short-cut in Windows / Setup. Set Up Wireless Connection on Verizon XV6700 The Verizon XV6700 Pocket PC Camera Phone is a really neat device. It's like a m ini portable computer that fits in the palm of your hand. It provides not only w ireless network capability through the EV-DO network, but also has build in WiFi capability. That's where things get a little confusing. Switching between the t wo on the fly with the XV6700 is not as easy as it could be. It takes multiple s teps that even I have a hard time remembering. In this document, I will show you

how to set up various method of connecting to the network and how to switch fro m one to another. Set Up the Verizon EV-DO Wireless Connection It's likely that your phone is already set-up to connect to Verizon's wireless n etwork when you first got it. But if not, these instruction will help you on you r way. Pull down the Start Menu and select "Settings". In the Settings window, click on the "Connections" tab. You'll be presented with the following screen shot. [Settings -> Connections] Tap the "Connections" icon with your stylus. Select the "Advanced" tab. Tap the "Select networks" button. That would bring you to the "Network Management" scree n (see below). [Network Management] Pull down the two lists. If your Verizon Wireless connection already shows up in the lists, then you don't need to set-up this connection. On the other hand, if you doen't, then you'll have to go through the following steps. Tab the "New..." button to create a new connection. Enter a name for this connec tion. You can call it whatever you want. I prefer to use the phrase, "Verizon Wi reless". Now, tap on the "Modem" tab. Click on the "New..." button to make a new modem connection. You can enter any name at this point, but select "Cellular Li ne" for the modem. Tap "Next". At the next screen, enter "#777" for the dialing number. Tap "Next". Leave user name, password, and domain blank. Tap "Finish". F inally, tap the "OK" button to save your settings. Set Up the WiFi Connection If all you want to use is the Verizon Wireless connection, then you are already good to go. But if you want to set-up a WiFi connection as well, I'll show you h ow now, but it is going to get a bit complicated. You'll need some basic knowled ge of setting up a WiFi network. First you'll have to enable the WiFi connection on the XV6700. You can get to th e WiFi on/off screen by tapping the tiny radio wave icon on the lower right hand corner of the main screen. Once you have enabled WiFi, tap on the Start Menu, select "Settings", and then c hoose the "Connections" tab. Now open up "Network Cards". You will be presented with a list of access points to connect to. If you have a simple WiFi network wi th no password key, simply keep the stylus on the access point for two seconds a nd select "Connect". But if you have a password protected access point, you can tap the access point to change the authentication settings. I then remembered the post from equinoxe that had registry settings for his phon e. I took those settings and updated my registry. I now have a decent touch scre en - at least the top 3/4 works fine. The key and settings are: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\TOUCH] "CalibrationData"="1922,1957 3330,639 3317,3276 600,3230 609,677 " kernelguy Afterwards I used the remote alignment tool (attached) to retrieve the correct s ettings from the correctly aligned mda(after changing the registry key then rebo oting the device) then made sure the file was saved on my pc....normally it's sa ved by default in the C:\Program Files\Code Factory\Remote Screen Alignment dire

ctory. The file was called WIZA200.dat. I did a soft reset then when the alignme nt screen came up I did the skip function in the remote screen alignment applica tion and it automatically read the proper calibration from the wiza200.dat file and then properly calibrated my mda now my screen is properly calibrated even th ough i never ran the alignment wizard. So here are the Instructions folks: 1. Download the latest activesync and connect your mda to your computer and veri fy your device is connected(not as guest) 2. Perform a soft/hard reset on your MDA then tap your screen to start the scree n alignment wizard 3. Download the remote screen alignment tool attached and install it on your mac hine. 4. Download the wiza200.txt file attached and rename it to WIZA200.dat then put it in the C:\Program Files\Code Factory\Remote Screen Alignment directory on you r computer 5. Ensure your MDA is connected to your pc(A green activesync Icon usually indic ates a connection :P) 6. Open the remote screen alignment tool on your pc meanwhile your phone be disp laying the alignment screen wizard. 7. Click SKIP in the screen alignment tool. Assuming everything went fine a message box displaying "The operation has been c ompleted successfully. Your device will be restarted." should pop up on your com puter and your device should restart. Afterwards your phone will run the files i t always does when you do a soft/hard reset then you touch screen should be prop erly calibrated and work fine. This will open a "Run.." dialog like in normal windows: Hold the 'action' button (The Middle Dot on Dpad) Tap and hold the clock icon Release both and select 'run' Boost Windows Mobile 5 performance up to 20 percent [HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS] CacheSize = 4096 (Decimal Values) [HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS] EnableCache = 1 (Decimal Values) [HKLM\System\StorageManager\Filters\fsreplxfilt] ReplStoreCacheSize = 4096 (Deci mal Values) * Soft reset for changes to take effect. We've received many emails asking what to do, so don't feel alone. While there is no official workaround or solution of which we are aware, Code Fa ctory has written a small software utility called Remote Screen Alignment that r uns within Windows which allows you to bypass the Align Screen. This program was written for users with sight problems, but it can also be useful for those who are experiencing the stuck align screen problem. Download this .ZIP file from Code Factory: Remote Screen Alignment Application Connect your Windows Mobile device to your Windows PC. Install and run Remote S creen Alignment with the installer contained within the .ZIP file. Remote Screen Alignment Utility Screenshot Use the first "Skip" button to move past the Align Screen to the main Windows Mo bile Today Screen. You may need to align the screen manually by tapping Start > Settings > System ( tab) > Screen in order for the touchscreen to work correctly.

NOTE: Code Factory warns that Remote Screen Alignment should be run in Windows 2 000 or later. The program does not specifically state whether or not it will ru n on Windows Vista, but we were able to use it on our system. If you have a wireless cell phone and leave the coverage area of the phone, you enter into what is called "Roaming." This means you can still place phone calls, however, you are using the network of a different wireless provider. This often costs extra, especially if you are out of the country. To stop the roaming sign al on your wireless phone, there are two options available to you. Mute the speaker Listen to this using a male or female voice M/F Contact your wi reless provider and ask for the roaming package. Although most larger providers, such as Verizon, AT&T and Sprint, all have this included in your package, you m ay need to pay extra with a smaller provider. This removes the roaming signal fr om the phone, but the monthly bill will be higher. Mute the speaker Listen to this using a male or female voice M/F If you do not w ant to add roaming coverage to your phone service, press the "Menu" button and c hoose "Network" from the list of options. Mute the speaker Listen to this using a male or female voice M/F Select "Home" o r deselect "Roaming" (depending on the wireless phone you are using). This remov es the signal for roaming from the phone and you can no longer make phone calls when away from your network. If anybody is still interested in GPS for this model, here is how to get it to w ork. Register at Skyhook and download their cab for winmo. Then download gpsview er. I am using Pocketnavigator free version for mapping. I start gpsviewer first till I get position, then start the mapping program. I use this with no connect ion as the phone is not enabled (free). If any interest I will give more detail. Since this is a fairly simple process; here is a quick tutorial; 1) Download the Skyhook cab file. I had difficulty finding it on their site but if you Google Skyhookvgpsppc50 you will find it 2) Download GpsViewer.PPC300_2577 cab. 3) I am not sure you need this but it cannot hurt to have it. Unhide external GP S settings. HKLM/CONTROLPANEL/GPS SETTINGS add Group and give value of 2(dec) this will add the GPS icon in your phone settings. Here are the screenshots of settings that work for me. I could not get a screens hot of Mapfactor Nav so I used GoogleMaps as an example. I encourage others to e xperiment with the settings to see what else might work. Once again my phone is not activated but as long as wifi is turned on the GPS works(doesn't need to be connected however). To get this working initially though you do need to have a wifi connection at least for the registration scree n in WPS and to get your first several fixes. You may have to register at Skyhoo k to start this process I did not show my username but I used the one I register ed with as a developer. Good luck I hope this works for others. Force EV-DO/1X, quicker ring response I would put these in the tips and tricks section, but that thread is going to ge t long and these two questions are already far too common, so here's a thread wi th a quick answer that will be easily SEARCHABLE (hint, hint!). To do this, you will need your MSL, which only Sprint (or your provider) can pro vide you. Open up the phone app and dial ##778# (PST). You will be asked to ente

r your MSL. Enter it, and you will be brought into the provisioning of your phon e. From the top left, select Modem Settings. On this page, your Slot Cycle Index (SCI) is how often your phone polls the tower for incoming calls, etc. This val ue is 1.28 seconds multiplied by 2^value (i.e 0=1.28 secs, 1=2.56secs) with 0 fa stest, 7 slowest. The default is 2, but lowering it to 1 hasn't noticeably affec ted my battery life, and roughly 2.5 second (SCI 1) response time is far more re asonable than roughly 5 seconds (SCI 2). Hope this helps you all out! I found an interesting debuging mode on my phone from a Treo post somewhere onli ne. If you go into phone mode and enter ##33284# you enter this debugging/info m ode (like ##786#). I get the following fields: Drop down box for refresh rates (how often numbers update). Drop down box with 1 x and HDR. For those I get: 1x Call Processing State -> 2 =m Paging Channel State Service Option -> 0 Slot Cycle index -> 2 Band # -> -> Sleep Mode CH # -> 50 SID # -> 4195 NID # -> 6 Active Set -> 48 Neighbor Set -> 186 Rx Power -> -96 dbm Rx Ec/Io -> 25 db Rx FER -> 0.00 Tx Adj -> 127 P_REV in use -> 6 HDR Channel Number -> 150 Subnet Color Code -> 152 UATI (UATI104) -> 00 84 0A C0..... The numbers/values I entered above fluctuate on some or all the fields (some cha nge sometimes, haven't seen them all change or figured out what they mean). Saw this and got kinda confusing so did some research of my own...Not sure how t rue this is but what i gathered.

It's primarily for controlling the reverse control channel link. Each of the 16 values (0 to15) on the phones corresponds to a flag bit In the "overload control global action message " There is a total of 16 flag bits in the Global action message. It is not hierarchical! When a flag bit is set high, the phones with that ACCOLC setting will be in serve mode. They will place calls when the user request. When the bit is low, the phone will not accept a call request from the user. When a user request a call, the phone will respond with the fast busy signal. Any of the flag bits can be high or low, with no correlation to other bits. If the 16 bit control word is, 1010-0000-0011-1111. Only phones with the ACCOLC of 1, 3, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 will accept request for placing a call. It doesn't have to restrict the phones based on a hierarchical system. (ie) It can allow level 1 access while disallowing level 5 access. Incoming calls are regulated by the cellular network. The phone still monitors the control channel for incoming calls and new global action messages, but it will refuse to accept a call request from the user. The practice of using the last digit of the phone number will evenly distribute the current users into 10 groups. When incoming request grow beyond capacity, the control channel can basically disable users in 10% increments. It is up to the control station to rotate the blackout among the 10% chunks that reside on each overload class. Or the control station can lock out a group, or all groups for as long as it wants. Presumably with bit 10 in the high condition all the time to allow emergency personnel unrestricted access. When you dial 911 on an AMPS, CDMA, TDMA, GSM phone, it will ignore the global action message and proceed to initiate a call as soon as the control channel finishes serving the current phone that it is talking with. That is why you have a setting on AMPS (and newer) phones for the emergency number. When you dial that number, it will ignore any ACCOLC or global action messages, and it proceed to initiate the call . The ACCOLC is supported on AMPS, TDMA, CDMA, and GSM. It is used for a different purpose in the UK for GSM phones but it still has the same 16 bit control system. And no modifications have to be made to the phone for it to work on the US system or the UK system. When you get a recording that all lines are busy on the cell phone, Then ACCOLC is not being utilized. The wireline connection to the tower is what is beyond capacity.

When you get the fast beep, then the ACCOLC is being utilized, And your phone is currently being restricted by the tower, because their is no more frequency slots available.. Hope everyone will learn as much as I have off of this. This also mean's the higher your number the more importance you may have EDIT NOTE - It should be clear there is no CDMA or TDMA Analog band as Digital ( CDMA/TDMA/FDMA) is completely different from Analog. CDMA/TDMA/FDMA come only in Digital and is Cellular (800mhz) or PCS (1900mhz), while Analog is Cellular (80 0mhz) only (clearly not digital). Network congestion is a major concern on all n etworks. We absolutely have used ACCOLC since Analog, It became an auto program feature (defaulting to last digit of MIN/MSID) shortly after Digital handsets st arted making their way to the networks. This became auto in an attempt to seed t he network evenly to assist with congestion concerns. You do understand that the reason it allows your phone to ring quicker is becaus e your handset is polling the network more often, updating the network of its lo cation and status. Updating the network status this way means it is also looking at the nearby site s which allows your handset to determine its coverage, this is why it impacts ba ttery life. If you are in low coverage your phone will use more juice "looking" for the network. Lets not forget that .6 watts is the maximum output of the CDMA radio. The hands et dynamically adjusts its output based upon coverage quality. If it ran at full power all the time you would get little life and have a fairly physically hot h andset. (Ouch for GSM which is 1 full watt - cook you faster!). I talked to one other person that had this same issue. He only had it w/ a rom that had a registry setting for the screen alignment. Are there any custom registry settings you're using for alignment? One possible fix is to delete the registry setting from the phone, and re-align. Maybe that will keep them from changing back. Here is the registry location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\TOUCH Delete the key called "CalibrationData". Reset your phone, and then re-align. By the way, a quick way to get to the re-align screen is to push the center of t he joystick and the windows key at the same time.
