Overthetimeinwhichhehasbeennotquotedbyyourpublication,MrWoodhasinfactspoken onseveraloccasionsand,onmorethanoneoftheseoccasions,Imyselfhavebeenpresent andheardthecommentsmade. Onlyyesterday,overacurryinthedeadcityofWellington,MrWoodmadeseveralpithyremarks regardingthechangeableweatherandthestateofCricketinthiscountry.Noneofthesewere reportedinTheCivilian,givingyourreaderstheclearimplicationthatMrWoodhadsaidnothing atall. Myclientisextremelyconcernedyourimplicationheismute,totallydevoidofspeech,orjust extremelysociallyawkward,isanunwarrantedandfranklyscurrilousaccusationwhichholdsno basisinfact.GiventhehighstandingofyourpublicationinNewZealandsmedialandscape,we aregravelyconcernedthepeopleofNewZealandwillbegintoseehimaslesseloquentthanhe trulyis.Indeed,Ihavealreadyreceivedseveralinquiries,arisingfromyourinaccurate nonquotation,fromthepublicaroundthemuteorotherwisestatusofmyclient,includingone fromaMr.CCraigofAucklandwhowaswhollytakeninbyyourlackofcomments. IhaveinmypossessionsignedaffidavitsfromMrWoodsmother,myself,andthedudewho makeshimcoffeeinthemorningtestifyingmyclientcantalk,talksoften,and,insomecases, toomuch.Infact,Ihavesometimeswishedhewouldjustshutup.Moreover,thestatementfrom

MrWoodsmotherisveryclearthathisabilitytospeakandsometimeseventoformcomplex sentenceshasbeenongoingsincetheageofsixteen. Myclientasksifyouevenknowwhoheis? Inordertorectifythisegregiousoversightinfuture,Iherebydemandonbehalfofmyclientthat TheCivilian,atitsowncost,employasufficientnumberofstenographerssoastofollowmy clientatalltimestorecordhiscomments,andensurethatheishenceforthquotedfullyand correctlyinyourpublication. WealsorequirethatTheCivilian,againatitsowncost,collect,obtainandpublishatranscriptof allofMr.Woodsremarkstodatesoastocorrectthecurrent,incorrect,stateofaffairs.
