Task 7: Analysis and Interpretation

The questionnaire was distributed to twenty persons, nine being females and eleven being males. From the questionnaire a question Have you ever been in a case where you were abused by an adult was posed and forty five percent (45%) percent said yes which seems to suggest that persons when they were young were being abused while others are still being abused cause the respondents are of different age groups. Fifty five percent (55%) which are all females said no which would indicate that child abuse is widespread and prevalent especially among males. For the question Is child abuse common in your village? more than ten persons who agree that child abuse was and is still present in the village because amongst persons whose response was yes most of them are adults and the others are children which means it is still prevalent. The others who responded negatively were less than seven. The question Do you know anyone who was abused by their parents? was asked and All of the respondents answered yes which states that villagers are aware of child that child abuse is going on and know that children are being abused. Do you think people abuse other persons because they are under pressure? was ask via questionnaire and twenty persons (20) responded by saying yes which would indicate parents are suffering from stress from day-to-day activities and when children misbehave they abuse them. For the question Do you consider child abuse a major problem in your village? more people said yes in comparison to those who said no which therefore means that the

15

majority of the villagers are aware that child abuse is taking place and sees it has a major problem. Do you think laws should be enforced to prevent child abuse? was asked , 7/20 persons stated that perpetrators should be fined and counseled, 1/5 said they should be jailed while 1/10 said all of the above. For the victims 1/4 said they should be removed from their homes, 1/5 said they should be counseled, 1/4 said they should be placed in foster homes while 3/10 said all of the above. This would indicate that most of the villagers are willing and are trying to stop child abuse

16

Task 8: Findings
Child abuse is widespread and prevalent especially amongst women. Persons in my village are being abuse or was abused Child abuse was and is still prevalent in my village Villagers are aware that child abuse is present in the village and children are getting abused.
