Manipal University, Dubai has proudly served the higher education needs of the region for the last 13 years and is privileged to be a part of the growth and development story of Dubai, a leading global city in todays world. Our team of dedicated faculty across disciplines are committed to making your learning experience more rewarding and fruitful. I invite you to come and experience Manipal University, Dubais multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary education experience.
The Birth
In 1953, it was a barren plateau. Today, it is an oasis of verdant and vibrant life. The change at Manipal is deeply metaphorical. The dusty hilltop was where doctor and philanthropist Padmashri Dr. TMA Pai decided to create a learning ground that would be second to none in the world. Sixty years since the establishment of Kasturba Medical College, Dr. Pais dream has been realized many times over. The barren plateau was destined to turn into an oasis. After all, it was nourished by a river of knowledge.
The Journey
Today, Manipal, located in the South Indian state of Karnataka, is an international university town. Its roots may still be here, but this tree of wisdom has branched out throughout India and the world. Apart from Manipal, the Group has five universities and ten campuses spread across Bangalore, Mangalore, Jaipur and Sikkim in India and in Malaysia, Nepal, UAE and Antigua in the Caribbean islands. What began as a medical college six decades ago has now diversified into 24 varied fields as dental, engineering, architecture, nursing, allied health, pharmacy, management, communication, information science, hotel management, biotechnology, regenerative medicine and even the countrys only jewellery management and design institute. There are as many as 400 courses in which students can secure Bachelors, Masters or Doctoral degrees with various specializations.
The Progress
Over all these years, Manipal University has earned the trust of hundreds of thousands, not just in India, but across the globe. This has only been possible because of its obsession for education that is world-class, valuebased, inspired and empowering. No wonder then, that it was one of the first institutions in the private sector to be given Deemed University status in 1993. Today, Manipal Universitys degrees are recognized the world over. Its constituent institutes have made it a habit to secure top ranks in various surveys. Actualizing Dr Pais vision every day is a dedicated 3,500-strong faculty and a committed staff of about 8,200. Manipal Group institutions are located on scenic campuses, which provide high quality lifestyle and ideal environment for study. All campuses have excellent infrastructure such as air-conditioned lecture halls, world-class labs, air-conditioned hostels, multi-cuisine food courts, sports & recreation facilities and so on.
The Milestones
Manipal University has 94,000 strong alumni all over the world. Thats 94,000 success stories. 94,000 living testaments to Manipal Groups commitment to education. Every day, we uphold those values and we try to add value to wisdom. We make use of the dynamic industry-inspired curriculum, a proprietary process of Manipal University. We incorporate industry experts as part of our faculty. We collaborate with 80 universities in the US, UK, Australia and many other countries as part of twinning programmes, student exchange, projects and so on. We award merits and scholarships to deserving candidates. And we boast of high placement rates.
Manipal is like the Nalanda of yore. I am happy to see engineering, medicine and the other disciplines being taught in the same campus, an ideal environment for research to flourish.
NR Narayana Murthy
The achievement of the private sector in higher education is best illustrated by Manipal, which is the Harvard of India.
Azim H Premji
Chairman Wipro Technologies Ltd.
When Dr TMA Pai decided to build a medical college in Manipal, it sounded like a impossible dream. In the space of 50 years, Manipal was transformed into an educational capital, which is proof enough of a powerful vision.
Dr Peter C Doherty
A magnificiant institution. Library facility is extraordinary. The extent and diversity of teaching and research is very impressive.
The Birth
Thirteen years ago, Manipal was already a respected name in India and the world. It was only natural that the Group would make its mark in a region that has one of the highest number of Indian expatriates. With a vision to dispense the kind of top quality and globally relevant education that a progressive country like UAE deserves, a branch campus of the Manipal University was opened in Dubai in the year 2000.
The Journey
Every epic journey starts with a small step. Manipal Dubai, too, had humble beginnings with just 63 students in its first year. Since then, however, the student strength grew exponentially, as the university proved its worth and merit. The campus shifted to Dubai Knowledge Village in 2003 and later to the glitzy Dubai International Academic City in 2006. In May 2010, work on the universitys new campus commenced. The very next year, the 750,000 sq ft state-of-the-art campus was ready.
The Progress
Wherever we go, we make a mark for ourselves. Even in the Middle East, Manipal is the only Indian multi-disciplinary university in the region. At present, it offers 24 programmes in six disciplines, offering Bachelors and Masters degrees, and, Certificate & Foundation courses. The disciplines include Engineering, Management, Media & Communication, Interior Design & Architecture, Biotechnology and Information Technology. At present, Manipal University, Dubai has over 1,500 students from across 30 nationalities.
The Milestones
Manipal Dubais new campus is among the largest and most advanced campuses in the UAE. Matching the international status of Dubai, the campus boasts cutting edge laboratories in disciplines such as Engineering, Biotechnology and Information Technology and is also home to some of the regions best studios and workshops for programs in Media & Communication and Interior Design. The campus also houses a sprawling library, cafeteria and abundant indoor & outdoor sporting facilities. The alumni base of over 2,600 has excelled at workplaces around the world, bringing laurels to their alma mater.
I like the hands-on approach of the courses at Manipal University, Dubai because it has taken my learning beyond theory. I have learnt to apply my knowledge through experiences like giving presentations, working in teams, and active involvement in our tutorials. I feel better prepared to get into the workforce because of it.
I came to Manipal University, Dubai as a confused person, but its clearly defined programmes helped me decide what I would like to achieve in my career. The faculty is highly qualified and gives a thorough understanding of the concepts. Apart from teaching, they are constantly upgrading the course offering, in order to suit the changing market trends
Education was an immense pleasure with the presence of experienced faculty. College life was very enjoyable though studies were made first priority. Manipal University, Dubai has a wonderful and encouraging environment that inspires students to be creative and think out of the box.

On completion of the program a student will be eligible for entry level executive as well as a media professional such as reporter, sub-editor, production executive, content developers, advertising executive, public relations executive and event managers in a wide variety of media organizations. However, it is advisable for students to acquire higher academic qualifications in the areas of media and communications. The rationale for this suggestion is that students must aim at being the decision makers to shape the media of the future and not settle at being media workers. The advantage of higher academic learning is that they will focus on analytical, critical thinking processes rather than on professional skills and that is a highly desirable quality for leadership positions in media organizations. However, there are immense opportunities in the media industry for immediate engagement after graduation. These are: Advertising or marketing specialist, copy writer, media planner, creative director, media sales representative, media researcher Broadcasting station manager, film editor, news director, news writer, technical director, presenter, news anchor, public relations manager, casting director, news producer, business manager, and talk show host Corporate public affairs specialist, reporter, editor, newscaster, script writer, publisher, news service researcher and technical writer Director, producer, production manager, publicity manager, media manager, media relations cocoordinator and media & audience analyst Media trainers, corporate communicators, multimedia designers, graphic designer, web & print production designer, and graphic animators

In character, it has been prosperous and embracing. Dubai truly is where East meets the West. The second-largest emirate in the UAE, Dubais financial might is proven and time-honoured. The emirate is a virtual melting pot of people from various countries, cultures and ethnicities. Dubais welcoming culture, thriving business climate and comfortable lifestyle have prompted all these people to call it their home. A true jewel in the Arabian desert, Dubai has become an international city due to its pioneering, almost otherworldly real estate, booming tourism, massive shopping malls and breathtaking luxury hotels. Dubais cosmopolitan culture has also turned it into an education hub in recent years. With world-class universities from all over the world setting up their modern campuses in Dubai, the residents and massive work force have a wide array of institutions to choose from. With an education that is at par with the international level, those who study in Dubai are virtually work-ready anywhere in the world. Years ago, Dubai conquered the hearts of millions across the world. Today, those who step out of Dubai are ready to conquer the world.
