ASSIGNMENT OF RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Imagine you own a company but suddenly the sale of your product started declining . To solve a problem do a research.
There are different types of research. They are: 1.Descriptive research 2. Analytical research 3. Applied research 4. Basic research 5. Quantitative research 6. Qualitative research 7. Conceptual research

1.BASIC RESEARCH The research which is done for knowledge enhancement, the research which does not have immediate commercial potential. 2.APPLIED RESEARCH Applied research is designed to solve practical problem of the modern world, rather than to acquire knowledge for knowledge sake. 3. QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH Quantitative research aim to measure the quantity or amount and compares it with past records and tries to project for future period.

4. QUALITATIVE RESEARCH. Qualitative research presents non-qualitative type of analysis. Qualitative research is collecting, analyzing and interpreting data by observing what people do and say. Qualitative research research refers to the meanings, definitions, characteristics, symbols, metaphors, and description of things. Qualitative research is much more subjective and uses very different methods of collecting information,mainly individual, indepth interviews and focus groups. The nature of this type of research is exploratory and open ended. 5. CONCEPTUAL RESEARCH A conceptual research is to outline possible courses of action or to present a preferred approach to an idea or thought.

Select a suitable research design & also state why choose?


For identifying the cause for declining the sales ,I am going to use exploratory research design method. Because to study about variation in sale must be on detailed manner. Because the chances of fluctuations are cause by seasonal variations, economical variations, government policy , etc So to identify why the sales decline must study in detale.

Problem/Question
1. Why the sale is reducing? 2. If the quality of products is good? 3. If we have enough products on time, according to demand? 4. If the arrangements of product is on a correct manner? 5. If the customers can find out & take the products easily? 6. If there are sufficient sales person in that firm? 7. If the sales persons are efficient? 8. If the customers are happy with the sales team? 9. If the customers are convenient with the price of the product? 10. If the customers can get new variety products?

11. Who are the main competitors of that firm? 12. What are the competitors sales policies?

Observation/Research
1.Evaluate the customer satisfaction by providing suggestion box/ complaint box. 2. Observe the purchasing pattern of the customers. 3. Observe that the customer got adequate products/goods. 4. Identify any shortage of stock on firm. 5. Identify the customer requirements. 6. Identify the customer is satisfied with the price of the product.

Formulate a Hypothesis
Ho: customer is not satisfied H1: customer is satisfied By using the hypothesis , we came to the conclusion that the customer is not satisfied.

Experiment
Select a few variety products which have customer requirement. The price of the product is comparatively more than the complementary goods .But the quality is good.

But the customer choose the complementary products because of its price.

Provide traning to the existing sales persons. It reflects on increase in sale & customer satisfaction. Provide a slip to the customers to write there suggestions / opinions/needs & wants .

Collect and Analyze Results

After Collecting the suggestions provided by customers, we got the idea that we need to increase some more new variety of products at low cost. Sales persons are less . So Appoint some new talented sales persons in the firm. Arrange the goods properly in a systematic order, because the customer be confused about the position of the products. So, sometimes they go out from the shop without purchasing some goods. Provide new offers & discounts.

Conclusion

As I conclude that we must change the arrangements of products in a systematic manner & include some more variety of products at high quality on lower cost. Provide tranning to the existing sales persons , it helps to increase the capacity & capability of them. Appoint new talented sales person in sales department accoding to increase in sales . And provide good customer service & create a good relationship & continue that relationship for future with them. Fix a target amount for sales.

Motivate employees by providing commission on the base of sales, it will help to increase the working capacity of employees .And also it helps to create loyalty.
