Lightweight carbon roof.
The roof made from carbon bre-
reinforced plastic (CFRP) also simply
called carbon is an extraordinary feature
of the new BMW M Gran Coup. Its
contours guide airow and therefore
improve aerodynamics. This, in itself,
is impressive. But the weight saving is
even more so. Thanks to a resin-coated
weave of microscopically ne carbon
bres, the roof is around per cent
lighter than steel. As a result it lowers the
cars centre of gravity and signicantly
renes driving performance.

Making the unique character of the BMW

stripes and double slats of the grille, the
M-typical gill elements with integrated

M Sport steering wheel with racing
car-style gearshift paddle technology:

The latest M cockpit technology denes the appearance of the interior. Striking features
include the multifunction Mleather steering wheel, the Mcentre console with ergonomically

already promise optimum comfort, while M multifunction seats with climate control and
electric adjustment are available on request.

POLISHED TO PERFECTION.
THE M HIGH-PERFORMANCE CHASSIS.
Traditional rules do not apply to the new BMW M Gran Coup. As an independent production of BMW M GmbH, it is faithful to the M philosophy
perfectly combining high performance with optimum, everyday practicality. To full these high demands, the intricately constructed M high-performance
chassis has been redeveloped from the ground up.
Active M Differential.
This optimises traction at full power even on
tight bends, during high-speed cornering and
on variable road surfaces. An electronic control
unit links the active system with DSC and
proactively ensures the intelligent use of locking
torque in every driving situation. In this way, no
drive power is wasted and perfect handling is
guaranteed.
M Carbon Ceramic Brake System.
The high-performance brakes in the new BMW
M Gran Coup provide exceptional performance
and are extremely resilient. At the same time,
the weight-reduced system impresses with
lower unsprung mass, maximum resistance
to fade and a long lifespan. The M Carbon
Ceramic Brake System can be identied by
the matt gold-painted brake calipers with M logo.
M Dynamic Damper Control.
The driver uses this system to adapt the
characteristics of the dampers to the driving
situation. In addition to the standard Comfort
setting, there are two programmes: Sport and
Sport+. These set the shock absorbers to a
rmer position, for an exciting, sporty ride.
M Dynamic mode.
Two M Drive buttons on the steering wheel offer
pre-programmed congurations for either a
sporty or a comfortable drive. One of these is M
Dynamic mode. For a particularly authentic
driving experience, it enables optimum use of
longitudinal and lateral dynamics potential by
raising the intervention threshold of the Dynamic
Stability Control (DSC) system. In this way, it
only intervenes in critical situations.

Wherever the road may take you, youll always be in touch with BMW ConnectedDrive*. Its innovative optional functions ensure optimum networking
of driver, vehicle and outside world any time, any place. The following are selected highlights relating to convenience, infotainment and safety. For a

Convenience. Fascinating BMW ConnectedDrive service-orientated innovations include Surround View and the Rear View camera for easier
handling of your vehicle. It means you will always be as relaxed as possible in your BMW.
New Generation Navigation System Professional.
This optional system offers a high-resolution and precisely detailed
." colour display that is now even easier to read. It also features a
quick-start function and delay-free input. Improved route guidance and
D map navigation provide still further convenience.
Park Assistant.
This optional driver assistance system makes parallel parking easier.
When travelling at speeds below km/h, the system measures any
parking gaps the vehicle passes. When a big enough gap has been
found, the Park Assistant will do the steering, while the driver
continues to operate the accelerator and brake pedals guided
by acoustic signals and instructions in the Control Display.
Speed Limit Info incl. no-overtaking indicator.
This optional assistance system shows drivers current speed limits
as well as information on overtaking restrictions in the instrument cluster.
A special camera captures information from relevant trafc signs. This
information is processed together with data from the navigation system
via a control unit. Other features, such as the vehicles rain sensor, are
also employed. This means that the system can even inform drivers of
variable speed limits in wet weather, for instance according to the
situation.
Park Distance Control, Surround View, Rear View camera.
These optional systems enhance visibility of the area around the vehicle
when manoeuvring. The Park Distance Control (PDC) enables
comfortable and safe parking, using visual and acoustic clues. Surround
View presents an image of the BMWas seen from above in the Control
Display. The Side View system included in this equipment option ensures
better visibility when joining a main road from a side street or exit. The
Rear View camera enhances visibility when reversing at speeds below
km/h, for example when parking. With such an excellent overview,
youll always feel relaxed and condent.

Infotainment. Offering a host of technological and media-orientated functions. It means that your car can provide all the entertainment and
information services you would expect of your own home or ofce.

BMWConnected App. For the rst time, you can now use apps in your
BMW. With the Apps option, an iPhone and the free BMW Connected
App from the Apple App Store, youre no longer limited to just listening
to local radio, your calendar is with you all the time and youre always in
contact with your friends. Using iDrive, you can easily select web radio
stations from around the world. You can also call up the latest status
reports from your Facebook or Twitter accounts and view upcoming
appointments on the Control Display, or even have them read to you
through the audio systems speakers. New features include RSS feeds for
news and Wiki Local, which allows you to source Wikipedia information
on your local area.
Bluetooth interface with extended functions (Ofce).
Use the time you spend on the road even more effectively. You can use
the Bluetooth connection to show ofce functions such as email, dates,
tasks, contacts and SMS messages on the Control Display while on the
move. You can even have the information read to you via the audio speakers
using the text-to-speech function. With Bluetooth Audio Streaming, you
can also enjoy wireless playback of music through selected Bluetooth-
enabled devices

.
USB/audio interface with extendedfunctions.
In combination with the standard USB/audio interface and the original
iPod USB cable, your BMW is able to display the album cover related to
the currently played track in the Control Display - for fast and convenient
identication (this function is also available for other devices). The USB/
audio interface also makes it easy to update vehicle software in your
BMW via a USB stick. This means that new mobile phones and music
players can always be fully functional

.
Safety. The BMW ConnectedDrive functions in this core area comprise safety-focused services that signicantly reduce the dangers of road
trafc to the driver and passengers. Features include the full-colour BMW Head-Up Display.
High-Beam Assistant.
Avoid dazzling other road users the optional High-Beam Assistant
detects sources of light in the vehicles vicinity and switches between
high and low beam as trafc allows. When the system is active, an
image sensor behind the interior mirror monitors trafc and light
conditions. The assistant function then uses these sensor images
to decide whether or not the high-beam lights can be switched on.
The high-beam is switched off whenever it detects vehicles in front
or oncoming trafc, or when there is sufcient ambient light.
BMW Night Vision with Pedestrian Recognition and Acute
Warning.
An optional infrared camera in the double kidney grille detects people
and animals up to a distance of metres, directly displaying images
on the Control Display. Pedestrian recognition also gives a visual warning
to indicate if people are moving close to the road, up to a distance of
metres ahead. This means that the driver can recognise potential
danger signicantly earlier and react more quickly. The new Acute
Warning system helps in imminently critical situations, thereby offering
even greater safety.
Lane Departure Warning and Lane Change Warning (optional).
At speeds above around km/h, the Lane Departure Warning system
registers lane markings ahead, up to a distance of metres. If the
vehicle starts to move out of lane, the system warns the driver with a
slight vibration of the steering wheel. If the driver has activated the
indicator meaning that the lane change is intentional no warning is
given. The Lane Change Warning system provides a visual alert signal
in the wing mirror if there is a vehicle in the drivers blind spot or
approaching fast from behind.
Full-colour BMW Head-Up Display.
This uses a multi-colour TFTdisplay to project important driving information
directly into the drivers direct eld of vision. In this way, eyes are kept on
the road for increased safety. Information includes road speed and
navigation instructions while the availability of more colours makes it easy
to distinguish general driving information such as speed limits from
urgent warnings like pedestrian on the road (optional with BMW Night
Vision). The M-specic display also presents, among other features, the
Optimum Shift Indicator.
