A STUDY ON THE QUALITY OF WORK LIFE BALANCE AMONG THE EMPLOYEES OF REGIONAL TRANSPORT OFFICES IN THE GOVERNMENT OF TAMILNADU

SYNOPSIS Regional Transport offices are ever busy and giving yeomen services to the public round the year. Every day variety of members forming the different dimensions of the whole spectrum of stake holders Who Knock the doors of Regional Transport offices. Like any other organization these offices are also can March ahead for development with respect to changes that are happening with leaps and bounds. Quality of work life denotes all the organizational inputs which aim at the employee satisfaction and enhancing organizational effectiveness. By the globalization the modern employees are experiencing distress. To meet the challenges posed by present standards, organizational must focus their attention in bringing a balance between work life and personal life. The underlying assumption is that work life balance will ultimately ensure Quality of work life. Sigmund Freud is considered to be the father figure of Psycho analysis. His prescription for a healthy person is a combination of Lieben und Arbeiten that is Love and Work. The defining of quality of work life involves three major parts, occupational, health care, suitable working time & appropriate salary. The term refers to the favorableness or unfavorable ness of a total job environment for people. QWL programs are another way in which organisations recognise their responsibility to develop jobs and working conditions that are excellent for people as well as for economic health of the organisation. The elements in a typical QWL program include open communications, equitable reward systems, a concern for employee job security and satisfying careers and participation in decision making. Many early QWL efforts focus on job enrichment. In addition to improving the work system, QWL programs usually emphasise development of employee skills, the reduction of occupational stress and the development of more co-operative labor-management relations. The safe work environment provides the basis for the person to enjoy working. The work should not pose health hazard for the person. The employees & employees where of their sticks & sights, could achieve a lot in their mutually beneficial dialogue.

The Quality of work life movement provides a value frame work and a philosophy which has a long term implication for the human development and enrichment. It tries to balance both the work and family life. Hence integrated approach with regard to Quality of work life is required for the success of an individual and an organization. This underlines the necessity of searching studies on the nature of human relations and the problems of human relations and the problems of human behavior in the organization and suggests measures to cope with the problems. Hence, an in depth on aspects like Quality of work life can throw light on many nonidentified aspects of human behavior which may help in understanding the issues involved and improving the overall performance of these organizations. There it is found that there is need to study in greater detail about the topic. Hence it is planned to do a research to find out the ways and means to upgrade the potentiality of the employees of Regional Transport offices in Tamilnadu by the way of how effectively the management of time, stress, anger, assertiveness, negotiation, leadership and inter personal management skills are being exercised by them. Through the whole gamut is a vast area of study, a sincere attempt will be made thorough this research , in which mainly the primary data on self assessment coupled with the available secondary data on employees performance appraisals are expected to fulfill the research need. The soul aim of this research study will be to have a Modeling of successful performance which will lead to excellence of individual capabilities. If one person can do something better, it is possible to model it and teach it to others and the purpose of organizational effectiveness will be thereby achieved. ******************************
