Accelerated Charter Elementary School (ACES) seeks Bilingual (Spanish) K-5th Grade Teacher 2013-2014

In August of 2004, ACES became the first off-campus charter elementary school to be opened as part of The Accelerated School Family. ACES is a dual immersion enrichment programproviding 50 percent of the classroom instruction in Spanish and 50 percent in Englishin an academically challenging environment. The ACES model, which is based on community participation, academic rigor, integration of the project approach, bilingualism and self-expression, is a path to educational success and ultimately, to college access. Responsibilities -Provide a caring and constructivist-learning environment for inner-city students that enable students to master the California Content Standards and develop as confident, courageous citizens prepared to succeed at the university of their choice upon high school graduation. - Use of effective instructional and intervention strategies to meet the academic and social needs of students that are measurable on state standards tests and other assessments. -Serve as a positive role model. -Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and community stakeholders. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: -Bi-literate in Spanish and English. -Clear California Teaching Credential, BCLAD required. -One year full time teaching experience desired. -Experience in early childhood environments. -Coordinate and implement meaningful, engaging curriculum based on the following philosophies: two-way immersion philosophy and a project approach. -Inspire, counsel and instruct students to facilitate academic, social, and emotional success. -Familiarity with innovative instructional strategies and interest/background in Charter School Education and School Reform. Compensation: -$45,637.00-$73,587.00/year based on education and experience -Start Date August 2013 -Vision, dental and medical coverage -State Teachers Retirement System (STRS)
