ANECDOTAL RECORD Introduction: An anecdote is a brief account of incident.

An anecdotal behavior record a compilation of anecdotes which describe behavior significant incident which portray personality traits and the presence or absence of skill or understanding or which picture the quality of ward produced are written at the time of their occurrence. Definition: A factual record of an observation is a single specific, significant incident in the behavior of a student. Characteristics: 1) A factual description of an event, how it occurred; what happened; when it occurred and under that circumstances the behavior occurred will be described by the observer. 2) Each anecdotal record should contain a record of a single incident. 3) The incident recorded should be one in considered to be significant to the pupils growth and development.

Purposes: 1) To furnish the multiplicity of evidence needed for good cumulative record. 2) To substitute for vague generalizations about students specific exact description of behavior. 3) To stimulate teacher to took for information in, pertinent in helping each student realize good self adjustment. 4) To understand individuals basic personality pattern and his reactions in different situations. 5) To provide an opportunity for healthy pupil teacher relationship. 6) To help the teacher to understand her pupil in a realistic manner. Points to be included in anecdotal record: Imitativeness Punctuality Promptness Manual skill Knowledge and its application Team work Neatness Manner and appearance

Behavior indicating the capability

Method of Recording Anecdotes: To evaluate performance, the evaluator records specific critical incidents of effective and ineffective behavior. Total period of observation has to be written on the form. Number of incidents effective and ineffective behavior has to be recorded. Space for signature of the evaluator and the person who is being evaluated should be provided. Advantages: Supplements and validates of other structured instruments Provision of insight into total behavioral incidents. Use of formative feed back Economical and easy to develop. Disadvantages: If cordlessly recorded the purpose will not be fulfilled. Subjectivity Lack of standardization Difficulty in scoring Time consuming

Her General appearance is good and came with neat uniform. She is giving respect to the staffs and the seniors. While she was assigned with a patient she was taking care of the patient well. She prepared the ward and the articles neatly. She was maintaining punctuality for her duties. She had good communication skills. When she was assigned to do the nail cutting, she prepared the tray well with all the articles. She instructed the patient regarding the nail cutting procedure. But she didnt wash her hand before the procedure. She was not soaked the nails with the antiseptic solution or the : Ms. Esther : II Year.
