Title of the Proposal:Islamic Banking: Origins and comparison with conventional banking.

Motivation of the Topic:Islamic Banking being one of the newest trends in the financial sector, I would like to know how the Banks would actually work without charging interest. There are many countries that are developing and are adopting Islamic Banking. Mostly all the big banks have started practicing Islamic Banking. As it might be the next big thing in the future, I was motivated to see how the whole process of Islamic Banking works and how it would compete with conventional banking.

Originality of Contribution: Compare maybe 2-3 banks performance with and without Islamic Banking. How the profits change when they implement Islamic Banking Compare conventional banking and Islamic banking

The Structure of the Dissertation 1. Introduction- The introduction will explain about the topic, and the origin of Islamic banking and all the insights about it. 2. Literature Review- In this chapter, with the help of the articles and other literature I find about this topic, will be used to give out information about how the Islamic banking works and has been useful. Some data that will be collected will also be shown. 3. The comparison of conventional banking and Islamic bankingThis chapter would compare both the types of banking techniques and with the help of the data collected, show which one is better. 4. Empirical Evidence & Analysis- Mostly the data will be collected from the banks website or from other databases such as World Bank, and other financial companies doing research on this topic. With the data collected I would compare the performance of the banks and institutions, as to how they react in terms of profit and their future aspect. 5. Conclusion- It will talk about the future aspects this new style of banking, and talk about the comparison that I did with conventional banking.
