CASE STUDY INSTRUCTIONAL SHEET


You need to select ONE product which has at least FIVE (5) different child parts assembled. Each group shall decide on a selection, different from other team: 1. Automotive parts (i.e power window motor) 2. Household/home appliances (i.e toaster) 3. HVAC (i.e air conditioner/humidifier) 4. Public (i.e playground set) 5. Handling and Transportation (i.e agricultural machines) 6. Steel construction (i.e crane with angle profiles) a) The report You and your group member (limited to 5 members per group) are required to submit a report on the selection. It is about 1015 pages, font 11 in Times New Roman, 1.5 spacing and justify. Submit with tape binding (minimum requirement). The report should have all the information below: 1. Cover (with suitable title) 2. Case Study Instructional Sheet 3. Table of content 4. Distribution of work among members 5. Introduction of the product and functions 6. Findings a) manufacturing process and technology employed b) design concept, VAVE & quality assurance 7. Discussions You may suggest and compare suitable manufacturing process and/or technology in making the product, problems that may arise in completing the product etc. 8. A page of comments (improvement that can be made for the task, problems faced, suggestions, etc. by each individual team member [compulsory]) 9. References Report Evaluation will be made regarding to: 1. Ability to discuss the manufacturing process and technology employed 2. Ability to discuss the design concept & quality assurance in respective processes 3. Ability to compare suitable manufacturing process and/or technology 4. Ability to give ideas and suggest possible solutions 5. Ability to work in a team 6. Ability to present the report in proper manner (the sequencing & language used) c) The presentation: 1. Should have about 10-15 slides that covers the scope of your work. th 2. Should be able to be presented within 10-15 minutes (target date : 10 June 2013, in class 3. Practice, practice & practice before the presentation day. 4. All group members must participate during the presentation. 5. Copy of the presentation slides should be submitted through email prior to presentation date. th 6. Copy of the report should be submitted hardcopy and CD-R/RW by 5 June 2013. Presentation Evaluation will be made regarding to: 1. Content and subject knowledge 2. Supporting items e.g. presentation aids 3. Organization and presentation skills 4. Discipline and team work Assessment ; Report Presentation : 7% : 3%
