32-20/2013-NDM-I Ministry of Home Affairs (Disaster Management Division) Dated, 24th June, 2013 Subject: SOUTHWEST MONSOON-2013: DAILY FLOOD SITUATION REPORT SUMMARY OF IMPORTANT EVENTS AS ON 24.06.2013 RAINFALL/FLOOD SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY Rainfall occurred at many places over Odisha, Chhattisgarh, west coast and Andaman & Nicobar Islands: at a few places over Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, West Bengal & Sikkim and Lakshadweep and at one or two places over north-eastern states, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, north Andhra Pradesh, south interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The chief amounts of rainfall (2 cm or more) recorded at 1730 hours IST of yesterday were: Gorakhpur, Seoni and Wardha-5 each, Pantnagar, Agartala and Rajnandgaon-3 each, Bhawanipatna, Tadong, Bilaspur, Jagdalpur, Punalur, Valparai and Medikeri-2 each. Indian Meteorological Department (Major features of weather forecast) Rain/thundershowers would occur at most places over Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh and west coast during next 48 hours and decrease thereafter. Rain/thundershowers would occur at many places over Uttarakhand and at a few places over Himachal Pradesh during next 24 hours and increase thereafter. Rain/thundershowers would occur at many places over Odisha, West Bengal and Sikkim, Northeastern States, Madhya Pradesh, Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar islands. Rain/thundershowers would occur at a few places over Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and North Interior Karnataka during next 24 hours and increase thereafter. Rain/thundershowers would occur at one or two places over rest parts of the country.

CENTRAL WATER COMMISSION (daily water levels and forecasts for level forecast sites) There are no moderate flood situation sites in the country as on 24.06.2013.

DEPLOYMENT OF NATIONAL DISASTER RESPONSE FORCE (NDRF) 30 teams of NDRF consisting of 993 personnel have been deployed in Uttarakhand (14), Himachal Pradesh (2), Uttar Pradesh (2), Rajasthan (2), Maharashtra (2), West Bengal (2), Assam (1) ,Bihar (3) and J & K (2).

INDIAN METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT (daily weather report) Rain/thundershowers would occur at most places over Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh and west coast during next 48 hours and decrease thereafter. Rain/thundershowers would occur at many places over Uttarakhand and at a few places over Himachal Pradesh during next 24 hours and increase thereafter. Rain/thundershowers would occur at many places over Odisha, West Bengal and Sikkim, Northeastern States, Madhya Pradesh, Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar islands. Rain/thundershowers would occur at a few places over Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and North Interior Karnataka during next 24 hours and increase thereafter. Rain/thundershowers would occur at one or two places over rest parts of the country. Warning Heavy rainfall (7-12 cm) would occur at one or two places over Uttarakhand during next 72 hours. Heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur at one or two places over Odisha, Telengana, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Sub Himalayan west Bengal & Sikkim during next 48 hours. Heavy rainfall would occur at one or two places over Madhya Pradesh, coastal Karnataka and Kerala during next 48 hours. Weather outlook for next four days Rain/thundershowers would occur at many places over western Himalayan region, Uttar Pradesh, west coast, Gujarat, East Rajasthan, east and northeast India. Rain/thundershowers would occur at a few places over Central and rest north west India. Rain/thundershowers would occur at one or two places over rest parts of the country.

CENTRAL WATER COMMISSION (daily water levels and forecasts for level at forecast sites) According to the Central Water Commission (CWC) report dated 24th June, 2013, there are no Moderate flood situation sites in the country. DEPLOYMENT OF NATIONAL DISASTER RESPONSE FORCE (NDRF) ON 24th June, 2013 01 team consisting of 20 personnel of 1 Bn, NDRF deployed at Guwahati, District Kamrup, Assam for training and emergency response. 02 teams consisting of 70 personnel of 2nd Bn, NDRF deployed at Malda and Siliguri, West Bengal respectively in connection with Monsoon deployment. 02 teams consisting of 75 personnel of 5 Bn, NDRF deployed in Mumbai, Maharashtra as pre-positioning due to Monsoon season. 2 teams consisting of 77 personnel of 6 Bn, NDRF deployed at Ghaziabad, UP for prepositioning for flood rescue in Delhi. 02 teams consisting of 70 personnel of 6 Bn, NDRF deployed at Krishangarh (Rajasthan) as prepositioning for flood rescue.

02 teams consisting of 51 personnel of 7 Bn, NDRF deployed at Shangla/Shimla/Reckong Peo/Gaibong (Himachal Pradesh) for rescue and relief operation. 04 teams consisting of 135 personnel of 7 Bn, NDRF deployed at Kedarnath, Rambara and Haridwar (Uttarakhand) for rescue and relief operation. 10 teams consisting of 314 personnel of 8 Bn, NDRF deployed at Jolly Grant Airport, Laskar, Haridwar, Bhairav Chetti, Gaurikund, Guptkashi, Sukhtop/Harsil (Uttarakhand) for rescue and relief operation. 01 team consisting of 30 personnel of 9 Bn, NDRF deployed at Muzaffarpur, Bihar as prepositioning deployment. 01 team consisting of 31 personnel of 9 Bn, NDRF deployed at Gopalganj, Bihar as prepositioning deployment. 01 team consisting of 31 personnel of 9 Bn, NDRF deployed at Supaul, Bihar as prepositioning deployment. 02 teams consisting of 89 personnel of 7 Bn, NDRF deployed at Pahalgam, J & K for table top and mock exercise.

LOGISTIC SUPPORT PROVIDED BY THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE ON 24th June, 2013 IAF choppers are being used for evacuating stranded persons and for rescue and relief operation in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh states. In addition Army troops are also involved in rescue and relief operations. REPORTS RECEIVED FROM STATES/UTs Based on the reports received from State/UTs, details of extent of damage and relief operations are appended in Annexure I & Annexure- II respectively.
