17/06/13 Dear Parent/Guardian, SCHOOL SPORTS/FUN DAY The Knocknamanagh School Sports / Fun Day was held on Friday 31st May. Thankfully, the weather was pleasant and the children thoroughly enjoyed the many activities which had been planned for them. Thank you to the Parentss Association and all the parents who volunteered in a practical way and assisted the teachers at the various sports/fun stations on the day. We would also like to acknowledge with thanks PET ESSENTIALS, Carrigaline, who kindly sponsored all the medals. ATHLETICS TRAINING We would like to express our thanks and appreciation to the Tracton Athletic Club who organised a number of athletics training sessions for 1st to 6th classes during the summer term. SCHOOL TOUR As you are aware, the school tour will take place this Wednesday, 19 June and pupils are looking forward to their trip. Buses will depart from the school at 8.30am sharp and will return at 3.30pm. We request that your child is dropped off and picked up at these specified times. 3RD/4TH CLASS VISIT TO RNLI CROSSHAVEN Pupils from Ms. OSullivans 3rd/4th classes have been invited to visit the RNLI in Crosshaven on Friday 21st June. A note with further details is attached for the relevant pupils. WATER SAFETY Pupils from 2nd to 6th classes enjoyed their swimming lessons last term and made great progress in this important life-skill. Over the next couple of weeks, teachers will, once again, cover the subject of Water Safety with all classes and this is of particular relevance coming up to the summer months. Amongst the topics discussed will be safety and vigilance in and around water. We would also encourage parents to speak to their children on the importance of observing water safety guidelines whenever they are in the vicinity of water. For your information, we enclose a leaflet entitled Safe Swimming from Irish Water Safety. JUNIOR INFANTS COMMENCING NEXT TERM Envelopes for parents of Junior Infants commencing school next term are enclosed. BOOK SHOP Further to recent Parents Association Note, we wish to remind parents/guardians that High School Books will be in Tracton Community Hall on Friday, 21 June from 5pm-7pm. /Over
